Abstract

Speaking skill merupakan salah satu kemampuan dalam bahasa inggris yang sangat penting dimiliki oleh peserta didik. Penggunaan metode yang tepat sangat berpengaruh pada peningkatan speaking skill peserta didik. Metode project based learning merupakah suatu metode mengajar yang dapat membantu peserta didik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan speaking skill. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan menggali informasi dari penggunaan metode project-based learning dimana mahasiswa bahasa inggris semester 2 IKIP-PGRI Pontianak sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk descriptive kualitative. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan wawancara, dan questionnaire, Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa speaking skill mahasiswa dapat meningkat, Peningkatan juga terjadi dalam berbagai aspek seperti kemampuan kolaborasi, grammar, pengucapan, pemahaman, kosakata, dan kelancaran. Mereka juga merasa termotivasi dan lebih percaya diri dengan kemampuan yang dimiliki.

Abstract

The purposes of the research here 1) To find out the level of students’ interest in speaking skill at eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Boyan Tanjung. 2) To find out students' responses in speaking skill at eleventh grade in SMAN 1 Boyan Tanjung. The research method used in this research was descriptive method. Data collection techniques used in this research resume are Direct communication technique, and Indirect Communication Techniques. Data collection tools are questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis technique used is the formula percentage by Zuldafrial (2012:226). Based on the results of the study can be concluded that in that in a manner general speaking skill at Eleventh Grade in SMAN 1 Boyan Tanjung has been low interest. More specifically can be described as follows 1) The level of students’ interest in speaking skill at eleventh grade SMAN 1 Boyan Tanjung in the Academic Year of 2021/2022 which has a fairly good level of interest this is evident from the results of the acquisition of 50% included inpretty high category. 2) Students' responses in speaking skill at Eleventh Grade in SMAN 1 Boyan Tanjung in the Academic Year of 2021/2022 is low. The low interest of students in speaking English there are several factors from them not liking English, from accuracy, fear of spelling mistakes to difficult lessons for them.

Abstract

Project based learning merupakan suatu pendekatan yang menekankan peserta didik sebagai student-centred dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dimana mahasiswa semester 2 menjadi sample penelitian yang dipilih secara purposive. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa terhadap penerapan pendekatan project based learning serta efek terhadap mahasiswa dalam kelas public speaking yang dilaksanakan secara online. Data dalam penelitan ini dikumpulkan menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Terdapat 12 mahasiswa yang menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memberikan respon yang positif terhadap penggunaan pendekatan project based learning. Mereka merasa dapat belajar sambil mengerjakan tugas. Penggunaan pendekatan ini membuat mahasiswa menjadi termotivasi dalam mengikuti perkuliahan, kemampuan mereka menjadi lebih baik dalam autonomous learning, menyusun ide atau tugas, bekerjasama dengan teman, menyampaikan ide kepada orang lain atau komunikasi, dan memecahkan masalah. Tetapi ada beberapa kendala yang harus diminimalisir yaitu besarnya biaya penggunaan kuota, jaringan yang tidak stabil, serta mahasiswa yang terkadang bosan karena harus menatap layar HP atau laptop sepanjang pembelajaran.

Abstract

This research is descriptive qualitative which aims to find out the practices of the English village in the village of Nyayum. A class consists of eighteen participants from different classes who are deliberately selected as samples. Data was collected by using observation, field notes and student text. This research was conducted during teaching and learning activities. This research lasted for eight meetings. In teaching and learning activities, four stages of genre pedagogy are applied, namely knowledge building, modeling, combined joint construction, and independent construction. The application of a Genre-Based Approach to help Students to be able to communicative. Communicative can be in the form of oral, written, or even nonverbal. It is an inclusive term that refers to having knowledge of the language as well as the skills to use language in real-life situations to meet communicative needs. Language according to the researcher, is achievement in communication. During teaching and learning activities, observations were made by collecting field notes and student text. data analysis used thematic analysis to analyze field notes and text documents therefore, trigulation was carried out to validate the data. the findings describe the practice of English village at  nyayum village using a genre-based approach in learning activities. The practice of English village using a genre based approach as a method in teaching and learning activities can help students practice English because there is interaction between tutors, and participants. So, it can be used to teach English both informal and non-formal education.
