Abstract

Abstrak. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi pencapaian prestasi akademik adalah keyakinan akademik rasional dan irasional yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa terkait proses belajar-mengajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekonstruksi academic irrational beliefs mahasiswa melalui konseling kognitif dengan teknik disputing irrational beliefs. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang dilakukan dengan desain eksperimental one-group pretest-posttest design pada dua orang mahasiswa sebagai partisipan. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan data statistik menunjukkan tidak adanya perubahan academic irrational beliefs pada mahasiswa sebelum dan setelah penerapan intervensi (sig. 0.09). Namun tidak adanya perubahan ini diduga karena jumlah partisipan yang tergolong minim dengan melihat adanya nilai effect size yang besar (0.949). Data kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa bahwa intervensi ini mengarahkan kedua partisipan untuk dapat berpikir dan bersikap lebih rasional dalam menjalakan perkuliahannya bahkan setelah proses follow-up. Faktor yang turut memengaruhi keberhasilan intervensi adalah besarnya kebutuhan untuk berubah, sifat kepribadian dan teknik konfrontasi dalam proses konseling. One of the factors that affect students’ academic achievement is academic rational and irrational beliefs related to the teaching-learning process. The purpose of this study is to reconstruct students’ academic irrational beliefs by using cognitive counseling with disputing irrational beliefs technique. The method used in this study is quantitative method performed with one-group pretestposttest experimental design to two university students as the participants. Based on statistical data, the results showed that there is no change on students’ academic irrational beliefs before and after cognitive counseling (sig. 0.09). However, this results may be obtained due to the minimal number of participants that can be seen from the big value of effect size (0.949). The qualitative data from interview showed that cognitive counseling actually help both participants to be able to think and act more rationally even after the follow-up process which taken more than a month after intervention. Factors that affect the success of intrevention are the need for change from themselves, personality traits and techniques of confrontation in the counseling process. Abstract

Public obedience to the implementation of the health protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic was important. In reality, not all people, especially in residential areas (neighborhoods), were obedient. Limited research had addressed the implementation of health protocols in the settings of the neighborhood so a thorough study on this issue was significant to explore new knowledge. This study aimed to identify the authorities in charge of handling the COVID-19 pandemic in the neighborhoods, the obstacles experienced by the authorities and the residents, the support of the neighborhood authorities, the residents’ responses to policies related to the pandemic, and the impacts of the pandemic on the residents’ lives. There were 30 participants from 30 neighborhoods interviewed and observed. To increase the credibility of the study, a triangulation method was employed. It revealed that there were formal and informal authorities. Both the authorities and the residents experienced obstacles. The authorities had conducted many efforts to handle the pandemic like delivering education, providing facilities, modifying the residents’ behaviors, and collaborating with related stakeholders. Residents were supporting and not supporting the policies and the authorities’ efforts. Besides the negative impacts on the economy, health, society, and psychology, it turned out the pandemic has also brought positive impacts such as the adaptation to new habits and the emergence of new micro-businesses in the neighborhoods.

Abstract

The increasing ease of learning for students in the era of technological advancement has led to a shift in students' learning motivation. Various platforms and applications can be utilized to support self-directed learning, one of which is through the existence of ChatGPT. However, the convenience offered by various technologies needs to be accompanied by good digital literacy skills. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of ChatGPT usage on student learning motivation. This research was conducted using a quantitative correlational design, by distributing an online form among students. The scale used was developed by the researchers based on indicators from existing theories and answered using a 5-point Likert scale rating. The analysis was performed using multiple regression methods. A total of 127 participants from various academic levels were obtained. The results of the study indicate that both ChatGPT usage and digital literacy together influence student learning motivation. Furthermore, ChatGPT alone does not have a significant impact, but it needs to be accompanied by digital literacy. These results emphasize the importance of understanding and mastering existing technologies before utilizing technological advancements to benefit student learning attitudes. Universities may consider providing training and guidance on the use of ChatGPT during the learning process to help enhance student motivation.

Abstract

Academic resilience is an important factor for university students to navigate through their assignments, as the absence of quality may cause issues. Perceived peer pressure and search for meaning act as major predictors of academic resilience as both factors are crucial for university students. This research aims to identify the roles of perceived peer pressure and search for meaning on academic resilience in university students in Surabaya. This research is a quantitative study using a survey design and double regression data analysis technique. The sample of this study are active university students in Surabaya with the number of 208 respondents collected through accidental sampling in the form of non-probability sampling. Measuring instruments used in this research are The Academic Resilience Scale (ARS-30) (Alpha Cronbach 0,685 (perseverance), 0,861 (reflecting and adaptive help-seeking) and 0,761 (negative affect and emotional response)), Perceived Peer Pressure Scale (Alpha Cronbach 0,865 (yielding to peer pressure), 0,844 (resistance to peer pressure), dan 0,633 (peers encouragement)) and Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) (Alpha Cronbach 0,922). When juxtaposed, this research finds a significant role of perceived peer pressure on academic resilience while no role of search for meaning is found. On the other hand, search for meaning is found to have an independent role on academic resilience. Thus, it is concluded that perceived peer pressure has a more dominant role in comparison to search for meaning. Further research needs to be done regarding search for meaning as the mediator of the roles of perceived peer pressure on academic resilience.

Abstract

Abstract: The current Covid-19 pandemic has brought a huge impact on business owners and studies on this issue are still few. This study aimed to recognize the resources entrepreneurs had to support their resilience in dealing with the pandemic. It used a qualitative approach with a case study design. There were five entrepreneurs from five different cities involved as the participants. They ran these following industries i.e. plastic (Gresik), outdoor gears (Mojokerto), solar-powered water heater (Bandung), coffee beverage (Surabaya), and leather (Sidoarjo). Data collection was conducted through an online interview. The data were analysed using data-driven thematic coding. To increase the credibility of this study, the recordings were conducted comprehensively and investigator triangulation was used. The result of this study showed that the participants did concrete efforts to remain resilient to go through both economic and non-economic difficulties caused by the pandemic. They increased their internal resources such as the capacities to accept the condition, to adapt, to innovate and to keep productivity; faith/hope of better future; spirituality; and empathy towards business partners and employees. Besides, external resources like strategic business partners and family members had also an important contribution to their resilience. The result of this study can become a reference for other entrepreneurs to increase their awareness of internal and external resources for coping with the impacts of the pandemic. This study can be developed using social network analysis and interdisciplinary methods to obtain more comprehensive information. Keywords: entrepreneur,source of resilience, pandemic Abstrak: Pandemi berdampak sangat besar pada dunia usaha, dan kajian tentang pelaku usaha di masa pandemi masih jarang dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami sumber daya yang menunjang resiliensi para pelaku usaha selama menghadapi pandemi covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Partisipan berjumlah 5 orang pelaku usaha yang bergerak di bidang industri plastik (Gresik), peralatan outdoor (Mojokerto), pemanas air/solar water (Bandung), minuman kopi (Surabaya), industri kulit (Sidoarjo). Metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah wawancara secara daring. Proses analisis data dilakukan dengan melakukan koding tematik berbasis data (data driven thematic coding). Upaya meningkatkan kredibilitas penelitian dilakukan dengan melakukan pencatatan yang detail, seksama dan menggunakan triangulasi investigator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para pelaku usaha secara otomatis melakukan upaya konkret untuk tetap resilien menghadapi kesulitan ekonomi dan non-ekonomi yang muncul akibat pandemi covid-19. Upaya yang dilakukan adalah dengan meningkatkan sumber daya internal yang meliputi kemampuan menerima keadaan, beradaptasi, berinovasi dan menjaga produktivitas kerja; keyakinan/harapan yang positif akan masa depan; keyakinan spiritual; serta kemampuan berempati terhadap mitra kerja & karyawan. Selain itu, dukungan dari sumber daya eksternal, yaitu para mitra strategis dan anggota keluarga juga berperan besar dalam menunjang resiliensi para pelaku usaha. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi salah satu sumber yang menguatkan para pelaku usaha lainnya untuk meningkatkan kesadaran akan sumber daya internal dan eksternal yang dimilikinya selama menghadapi efek pandemi covid-19. Kedepannya penelitian ini dapat dikembangkan dengan metode analisis jejaring sosial serta mengaitkannya dengan bidang ilmu lain untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif.

Abstract

Student learning motivation can be influenced by various factors, including sleep quality and social support. This study aims to examine the effect of sleep quality and social support on student learning motivation. This research employs a quantitative method with an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires on social media. The participants in this study consisted of 212 university students in Indonesia aged 19-25 years. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression tests with the JASP software. The hypothesis test results indicate that sleep quality does not affect learning motivation, whereas social support has an influence on learning motivation. Thus, social support is an important factor in enhancing student learning motivation.

Abstract

Plastic Bank Indonesia (PBI) has done trainings and evaluated its results through two modules and tests. However, it does not yet have a standardized tool to evaluate the participants’ understanding.Therefore, the purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of PBI’s trainings across two modules in order to develop a standardized tool for evaluation. This is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design involving one experimental group without a control group and using post-test measurement only. The participants of the experinmental group are heads of warehouses and plastic collectors who received training and tests by PBI. Results show that the average score of the test falls into the category of Average and Good using an ideal norm, indicating that this training was effective in raising participants’ awareness of plastic waste. Results of the t-test show that there is no significant difference between the average scores of heads of warehouses (N=220) and plastic collectors (N=678). However, the results of the distractor test show that the majority of items are not a good distractor, which indicates that the test is still quite easy. Based on the reliability test, the majority of items have a moderate reliability (Cronbach’s alpha .5 to .7). The implication of these findings is that ineffective distractors should be revised to enhance the accuracy of evaluating participants’ understanding. Plastic Bank Indonesia (PBI) telah melakukan beberapa pelatihan dan mengevaluasi hasilnya melalui tes yang dilangsungkan dalam dua modul. Namun sejauh ini masih belum memiliki alat ukur untuk mengevaluasi pemahaman peserta pelatihan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur efektivitas pelatihan yang dilakukan PBI dalam modul 1 dan 2 dengan harapan agar terdapat alat ukur yang baku untuk digunakan sebagai saran evaluasi. Metode penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi-eksperimen dengan satu kelompok eksperimen tanpa ada kelompok kontrol dengan pengukuran post-test saja. Sebanyak 898 peserta kelompok eksperimen yaitu kepala gudang dan kolektor di Indonesia yang diberikan pelatihan lalu diminta mengisi tes. Hasil rata-rata skor tes masuk dalam kategori Cukup dan Baik menggunakan normal ideal sehingga pelatihan ini efektif untuk menumbuhkan pemahaman peserta pelatihan. Hasil uji beda menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan signifikan antara rata-rata kepala gudang (N=220) dan kolektor plastik (N=678). Namun, hasil uji distraktor menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas butir tes masih memiliki distraktor yang kurang baik yang mengindikasikan bahwa pertanyaan tes tergolong mudah. Dari hasil uji reliabilitas, mayoritas butir tes memiliki reliabilitas sedang (Cronbach’s alpha .5 sampai .7). Implikasi dari hasil ini distraktor yang kurang baik dapat direvisi untuk meningkatkan evaluasi pemahaman peserta yang lebih akurat.

Abstract

Beberapa penelitian di Indonesia telah mencoba mengukur kepedulian lingkungan berupa pengurangan penggunaan plastik sekali pakai. Namun belum ada alat ukur yang divalidasi dalam bahasa Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengadaptasi alat ukur single-use plastic reduction berdasarkan theory of planned behavior. Forward translation serta expert judgment dilakukan dengan melibatkan tim peneliti serta tim ahli dari lembaga swadaya masyarakat yang bergerak dalam bidang pengelolaan sampah plastik. Terdapat 295 partisipan dari anggota lembaga swadaya masyarakat dengan random sampling. Alat ukur single-use plastic reduction berdasarkan theory of planned behavior memiliki konsistensi internal yang baik serta hasil confirmatory factor analysis yang acceptable fit dengan data. Uji structural equation modelling menunjukkan bahwa dimensi attitude, perceived behavioral control, social pressure memprediksi single-use plastic reducing behavioral intention.  Hasil ini menunjukkan alat ukur single-use plastic reduction yang diadaptasi dalam bahasa Indonesia reliabel dan valid

Abstract

The term “preacher” refers to individuals who serve as religious or belief system speakers. The core of this role is the responsibility to communicate the principles and teachings of faith to the community. To perform this task effectively, speakers must have a comprehensive understanding and comprehension of public speaking, which includes the art of conveying oracles and the broader concepts of communication in public places. In public speaking, understanding oneself, building confidence, and overcoming anxiety are essential skills to master. The training aims to equip students to become skilled and impactful preachers by learning about public speaking, managing anxiety, and developing self-confidence. This study was designed using a quasi-experiment, one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants that accomplished the entire training series were 21 students. The data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test by SPSS 16 program. The result showed a significance value of 0,000 (< 0.05) for knowledge and 0.001 (<0.05) for skills. The significance value of 0.001 indicated differences in knowledge and skills of public speaking before and after the training. Public speaking training performed periodically can be a good alternative to help students develop public communication skills. Istilah “pengkotbah” mengacu pada individu yang berfungsi sebagai pembicara dalam sistem agama atau kepercayaan. Inti dari peran ini adalah tanggung jawab untuk mengkomunikasikan prinsip dan ajaram iman kepada umat/jemaat.  Untuk memenuhi tugas ini secara efektif, pengkotbah harus memiliki pemahaman dan keterampulan komprehensif mengenai public speaking, yang mencakup seni menyampaikan kotbah dan konsep komunikasi yang lebih luas di tempat umum. Dalam public speaking, pemahaman akan diri sendiri, membangun rasa percaya diri dan mengatasi cemas juga merupakan aspek yang penting untuk dikuasai. Pelatihan ini dilakukan untuk melatih mahasiswa menjadi pembicara yang baik dan efektif, melalui pembekalan terkait public speaking, kecemasan dan kepercayaan diri. Desain penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen melalui one group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian yang mengikuti keseluruhan rangkaian pelatihan ini adalah sebanyak 21 mahasiswa.  Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test melalui program SPSS 16. Hasil uji beda menunjukkan signifikansi sig. 0.000 (< 0.05) untuk pemahaman dan sig. 0.001 (<0.05) untuk keterampilan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan tingkat pemahaman dan keterampilan public speaking setelah dilakukan pelatihan. Maka pelatihan public speaking yang dilakukan secara berkala dapat menjadi alternatif baik untuk membantu mahasiswa dalam mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi di depan umum.
