Abstract

Anemia in adolescents is a common health problem, especially in developing countries. The impact of anemia extends beyond the body and impacts a person's productivity and quality of life. Anemia can have a major negative impact on development, both physical and cognitive, academic achievement, and quality of life. Implementation of health education activities uses the lecture method using PowerPoint media and leaflet media prepared by the health education activities team. This health education aims to increase children's awareness of detecting anemia early so that they can recognize anemia early and of course, can prevent anemia from an early age. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant difference in anemia knowledge between before and after health education. Keywords: Adolescents, Anemia, Health Education,

Abstract

Anemia is a serious health problem that affects society and is common throughout the world, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. The prevalence rate of anemia in adolescents aged 15 to 24 years is 32%, which means that 3-4 out of every 10 adolescents are estimated to suffer from anemia. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about anemia and the incidence of anemia among adolescents. The method used in this community service is an educational method, namely health education about anemia.  The result of this dedication is a change in knowledge after the provision of health education about anemia.  Key Words:  Anemia In Adolescents, Health Education, Level Of Knowledge

Abstract

Many nutritional problems occur when the intake of children under five is not balanced so that it will cause problems with poor growth status. The purpose of this health counseling is to determine the influence of breastfeeding mothers' knowledge regarding balanced nutrition after being given health education. Using a survey research design with quantitative methods and accidental sampling techniques. The target used was breastfeeding mothers as many as 18 respondents in Margamukti Village, North Sumedang District, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province. The results of health counseling activities regarding the level of knowing of breastfeeding mothers obtained pre-test results of 50% (Enough) and after being given health education there was a significant accure of 22.2% with post-test results of 72.2% (Very Good). The conclusion shows that there is an influence after being given health education to breastfeeding mothers regarding balanced nutrition in Margamukti Village

Abstract

Background: The global increase in the older adult population is accompanied by complex health challenges, including cognitive decline, elevated stress levels, and decreased independence in activities of daily living. In Indonesia, approximately 12.7% of older adults experience dependency in basic activities, influenced by factors such as chronic disease, depression, low physical activity, limited social support, and cognitive impairment, which collectively accelerate functional decline. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between cognitive function and stress levels with independence among older adults residing at Griya Lansia Ciparay. Methods: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 61 older adults selected through purposive sampling based on predefined inclusion criteria. Cognitive function was assessed using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), stress levels were measured with the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), and independence was evaluated using the Barthel Index. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis to describe variable distributions and bivariate analysis employing the Spearman Rho correlation test. Results: The findings revealed a statistically significant relationship between cognitive function and stress levels with independence among older adults (p = 0.001). Older adults with better cognitive function and lower stress levels demonstrated higher levels of independence in performing daily activities. Conclusion: Cognitive function and stress levels are significantly associated with independence among older adults. Strategies aimed at preserving cognitive abilities and managing psychological stress are essential to maintain functional independence and improve quality of life in the elderly population, particularly in institutional care settings.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, including in Indonesia. Hypertension management depends on medication and requires patient compliance in undergoing routine check-ups at health facilities. However, the level of compliance among hypertensive patients in undergoing routine check-ups is still relatively low. One factor that influences compliance is family support, which can take the form of emotional, instrumental, informational, or appreciative support. Previous studies have shown a relationship between family support and compliance with hypertension control, but generally still view family support in general terms. Not many studies have examined each aspect of family support (emotional, instrumental, informational, and appreciation) more specifically, especially in areas with high prevalence, such as Hegarmanah Village, which makes this study unique. This study aims to investigate the relationship between family support and adherence to routine check-ups among hypertensive patients in Hegarmanah Village, the service area of the Jatinangor Community Health Center. This study used a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consisted of 357 people, and the sample size used was 85 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The respondents in this study were hypertensive patients living in Hegarmanah Village and registered at the Jatinangor Community Health Center. The inclusion criteria included: (1) diagnosed with hypertension with above-normal blood pressure, (2) undergoing routine health checks at least in the last 3 months, and (3) living with family. The measurement tools used were a family support questionnaire adopted from previous researchers and a check-up compliance questionnaire modified from the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale. The data were analyzed using the chi-squared test. The chi-squared test results showed a p-value <0.001, indicating a significant relationship between family support and patient compliance in controlling hypertension. It was found that respondents with good family support had good control compliance, totaling 19 respondents (24.1%), while those with relatively little family support had low compliance, totaling four respondents (5.1%). Based on Cramer's V value of 0.382, the strength of the relationship between the two variables is in the moderate category. This suggests that the higher the level of family support received by patients, the greater the likelihood of patients complying with hypertension control. Family support plays a significant role in encouraging patients to undergo routine follow-up care. Family-based interventions are expected to be part of health care strategies to improve patient compliance.
