Abstract

Indonesian Muslim women had long been an inseparable part from political activities since the colonial period to present era. During colonial era, although they did not work formally under certain Islamic women’s organizations, they made real contributions to the women’s political movement in Indonesia since they formed women’s branches of existing mass organizations. Fatayat, this organization is the sister branch of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia: Nahdlatul Ulama. This paper narrates that the involvement of Fatayat in politics had its historical and genealogical roots since Soekarno era. Sukarno facilitated Fatayat to develop power capacity in politics. However, during Soeharto era Fatayat experienced a setback due to New Order’s control toward women’s organization with its “ibuism” ideology. In order to maintain its existence, Fatayat decided to collaborate with government by incorporating state’s program such as PKK, Posyandu into their activities while alos made network with national and international funding organization.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper is a case study based on the research of the process of arranged marriages in Pesantren. Arranged marriages have basically been a tradition in the world for a long time. In the process, the women involved in arranged marriages are often put in the position of an object and are considered to have no voice. Women have been seen as passive agents that do not contribute anything in the process of arranged marriages, whereas those who have full power in the process of arranged marriages in Pesantren are the Kyai or other male family members. This study took place in the five major Pesantren in East Java. One female informant, the daughter of a Kyai, was taken from each Pesantren so there were five informants. This research was conducted through in-depth interviews using the capital theory by Pierre Bourdieu, power relation by Michel Foucault, and women's agency by Sherry B. Ortner. This study reveals that Kyai’s daughters and wives, Nyai, are active agents, as well. Using the capital they have, women played their agencies in different ways to achieve certain goals. They engage in critiques on the habitus practice of arranged marriages. They also negotiate and resist when the arranged marriage process runs. This study confirms that doing research focused on women’s voice can expose additional aspects of women’s agency that have been widely ignored. Keywords:Pesantren, Women’s agency, Arranged marriages

Abstract

Educator performance appraisal in Islamic Junior School has a significant role in improving educator motivation and retention. This study aims to explore the relationship between performance appraisal and educators' motivation and decision to remain teaching in the institution. Through a qualitative approach, this study involved in-depth interviews with educators at Islamic Junior School. The data obtained was analyzed using thematic analysis method to identify emerging patterns and themes. The results showed that performance appraisals conducted in a transparent and fair manner can increase educators' motivation, as they feel valued and recognized for their contributions. In addition, constructive feedback from performance appraisals serves as a professional development tool that encourages educators to improve their teaching quality. The study also found that the presence of a good appraisal system contributes to educator retention rates, where educators who feel supported and valued tend to stay longer in the institution. Thus, this study recommends the development of a more inclusive and participatory performance appraisal system, as well as training for educators to understand and utilize the appraisal results in their professional development. The findings are expected to contribute to human resource management in Islamic Junior School and improve the overall quality of education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kepala sekolah dalam mengoptimalkan supervisi akademik di MTs Muktar Syafaat, dengan fokus pada strategi yang diterapkan untuk mendukung pengembangan profesional guru dan kualitas pembelajaran. Masalah utama yang diangkat adalah bagaimana kepala sekolah dapat mengelola supervisi akademik secara efektif, mengingat tantangan waktu terbatas dan keberagaman kompetensi guru.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Jenis data yang digunakan terdiri dari data primer yang diperoleh melalui observasi langsung terhadap pelaksanaan supervisi akademik di kelas dan wawancara mendalam dengan kepala sekolah, guru, serta staf yang terlibat dalam proses supervisi. Selain itu, data sekunder berupa dokumentasi terkait rencana supervisi dan umpan balik yang diberikan kepada guru juga dianalisis untuk memperoleh gambaran yang lebih komprehensif mengenai implementasi supervisi tersebut. Wawancara dilakukan secara semi-terstruktur untuk memberikan fleksibilitas dalam menggali berbagai perspektif tentang efektivitas supervisi.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah telah mengembangkan rencana supervisi yang terstruktur, yang mencakup observasi kelas dan pertemuan rutin dengan guru untuk membahas perkembangan pembelajaran. Umpan balik yang diberikan bersifat konstruktif dan mendorong perbaikan teknik mengajar, sementara komunikasi terbuka antara kepala sekolah dan guru memfasilitasi penyelesaian tantangan yang dihadapi dalam pembelajaran. Meskipun demikian, tantangan seperti pengelolaan waktu yang terbatas dan keberagaman pengalaman serta kesiapan guru untuk berubah menjadi hambatan dalam optimalisasi supervisi akademik. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa supervisi akademik yang terstruktur dan berbasis dukungan dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di MTs. Muktar Syafaat, namun memerlukan penyesuaian terhadap kebutuhan individual guru.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning model type Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) with Contextual Teaching and Learning approach on mathematics learning outcomes of class IV UPTD SDN Demangan 1. The research method used is quantitative with quasi experimental design in the form of nonequivalent control group. Sampling was done using nonprobability sampling technique purposive sampling type. The first sample is class IVB totaling 32 students as an experimental class which is given the treatment of a cooperative learning model of Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type with a Contextual Teaching and Learning approach. The second sample is class IVC as a control class which is given treatment like the way the teacher teaches in class, namely using a learning model, with 33 students. The results showed that there was an effect of the cooperative learning model of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type with a Contextual Teaching and Learning approach on the learning outcomes of mathematics class IV UPTD SDN Demangan 1.
