Abstract

This research is conducted to address the controversy surrounding the thalaq hadith that circulates widely in society. Various opinions are spread about this hadith without properly delving into the quality of the hadith and solely relying on a single narration. However, thalaq (divorce) is a very sensitive matter, and misunderstanding a hadith without a proper understanding can lead to incorrect beliefs. Using a qualitative approach in the form of literature review, this study aims to explore a correct understanding of the controversial thalaq hadith. The findings of this research indicate that the controversy in society arises due to a lack of in-depth understanding of the origin of the hadith and a failure to comprehend the hadith comprehensively. There are other narrations that strengthen and clarify the thalaq hadith, making it evident that the hadith can be utilized as long as there are no conflicting narrations. Through this research, it is hoped that answers to the controversies circulating in society can be provided.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing prevalence of stress in women influenced by domestic, social, and professional pressures. At the same time, psychoreligious approaches based on hadith-derived worship practices remain underexplored in scientific research. This study aims to analyze the effect of istighfar and dhikr on stress reduction in women through a psychoreligious approach, integrating the study of the Prophet’s hadith. The research method employed is a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative analysis, involving 28 teachers, 56 students, 50 mothers, and 50 wives who participated in religious activities at the Fadhilah Quran Foundation. The results showed that the practice of istighfar and dhikr contributed significantly to stress reduction through mechanisms of releasing psychological burdens, improving emotional regulation, and strengthening spiritual awareness, thereby impacting affective stability. Quantitative analysis confirmed a decrease in mean stress before and after the practice with a strong level of significance. At the same time, qualitative data revealed the formation of consistent subjective experiences of calm, focus, and positive reinterpretation of life’s pressures. These findings confirm that integrating istighfar and dhikr can serve as an effective psychoreligious intervention model for women’s empowerment and provide theoretical contributions to the development of Islamic psychology and hadith studies.

Abstract

Studies on jihad in Islam have tended to be dominated by a masculine perspective that positions men as the main actors of the struggle, while the role of women is often marginalized or understood narrowly. In fact, the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad clearly record the active involvement of women in various forms of jihad during the time of the Prophet, both in the spiritual, social, humanitarian, and supporting dimensions of physical jihad. This study aims to examine the concept of women's jihad from the perspective of hadith through a thematic approach (mauḍū‘ī), by exploring hadiths that contain the role of female mujahideen and analyzing their meaning, form, and relevance in the context of contemporary Islam. This study uses a qualitative method with a type of library research, descriptive-analytical in nature, with primary data sources in the form of hadiths of the Prophet in the main hadith books (kutub al- tis‘ah) and secondary sources in the form of hadith commentary books and classical and contemporary scientific literature. The results of this study indicate that women's jihad in the hadith is not limited to physical warfare, but encompasses spiritual jihad through acts of worship such as the Hajj and Umrah; socio-humanitarian jihad through troop care, logistical support, and strengthening the morale of the community; and moral and intellectual jihad in upholding the values of faith and humanity. Hadiths on the role of women, such as those of Umm ‘Ammārah, Umm ‘Aṭiyyah, Umm Sulaym, and Asmā’ bint Abū Bakr, emphasize that the Prophet Muhammad provided proportional and dignified participation for women according to their capacities and circumstances. This study concludes that women's jihad is an integral part of Islamic teachings oriented toward devotion, welfare, and justice, and has strong relevance in strengthening moderate, inclusive, and gender-just Islamic discourse amidst the challenges of modern society.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has created new forms of distraction, excessive media use, and shifts in attention and social orientation. This study aims to examine the Qur’anic concept of ghaflah and its interpretive relevance to contemporary digital phenomena from a psychological perspective. This study employs a qualitative library research approach using the thematic interpretation method (Tafsīr Mawḍū‘ī). Primary data consist of Qur’anic verses related to ghaflah and their interpretations in classical and contemporary tafsīr, while secondary sources include scholarly literature on psychology and digital media. Data were analyzed through content analysis by identifying the meanings and characteristics of ghaflah, categorizing the findings thematically, and interpreting their relevance to contemporary digital behavior. The findings indicate that ghaflah encompasses several dimensions, including neglect of spiritual responsibility, excessive attachment to worldly interests, inadequate use of human perceptual capacities, and distraction from fundamental life purposes. These characteristics show conceptual and interpretive relevance to contemporary digital phenomena, particularly excessive digital use, compulsive scrolling, information overload, and social validation. Rather than establishing an empirical relationship, the study demonstrates that psychological perspectives on self-awareness, self-regulation, attention, and social comparison provide analytical frameworks for understanding how digital environments may intensify patterns of distraction and loss of orientation described in the Qur’anic concept of ghaflah. The novelty of this study lies in constructing an interdisciplinary dialogue between Qur’anic interpretation and contemporary psychology while maintaining the theological distinction between ghaflah and psychological constructs. The study concludes that ghaflah provides a relevant Qur’anic framework for reflecting on digital behavior and highlights the importance of conscious, self-regulated, and ethically oriented technology use.
