Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the cancers that has a high prevalence in women, especially in childbearing age. Early detection through Visual Inspection of Acetic Acid (IVA) is an effective method to reduce the incidence and mortality rate due to cervical cancer. This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to increase the knowledge of women of childbearing age about the importance of early detection of cervical cancer and facilitate IVA examinations for them. The methods used include health counseling through interactive lectures, distribution of educational materials, and the implementation of free IVA examinations. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge about cervical cancer and the importance of early detection. In addition, enthusiasm and participation in IVA examinations increased, with more than 80% of participants attending undergoing examinations. This activity is expected to contribute to reducing the incidence of cervical cancer through preventive and educational efforts. A continuation of this program is the establishment of support groups in the community that will continue to promote reproductive health and early detection of cancer.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women can be caused by an increase in oxygen demand so that erythropoietin production in the kidneys also increases. This causes red blood cells (erythrocytes) to increase by 20-30%. This increase is not comparable to the progressive increase in plasma volume, which is 40-45%, so that a hemodilution process (blood thinning) occurs which causes a decrease in Hb concentration. This research method is an analytical survey with a Cross-Sectional research design, namely research on the relationship between two variables in a condition or group of individuals. The results of the Chi-Square test obtained a p Value = 0.020 ≤ α (0.05), this shows that there is a relationship between the role of health workers and the consumption of Fe tablets. The conclusion is that as health workers, they can increase their active role in providing counseling, information counseling and education to pregnant women and their families about consuming Fe tablets and especially to pregnant women to consume Fe tablets during pregnancy.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a serious public health problem, especially in developing countries, and can long-term impact children's physical and cognitive development. The nutritional status of pregnant women plays an important role in the growth and development of the fetus, which can affect the risk of stunting in children after birth. This study aims to analyze the influence of the nutritional status of pregnant women on the incidence of stunting in early childhood. Research Methodology: This study uses a cohort study design involving pregnant women and their children under five years old. Data were collected through interviews, anthropometric measurements, and laboratory analysis to assess the mother's nutritional status, including macro and micronutrient intake. Result: The analysis showed a significant relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women and the incidence of stunting in children. Pregnant women with good nutritional status have a lower risk of giving birth to stunted children compared to pregnant women who are malnourished. In addition, factors such as maternal education, economic status, and access to health services also contribute to the incidence of stunting. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the importance of adequate nutrition during pregnancy to prevent stunting in early childhood. Appropriate nutritional interventions and increased awareness of the importance of nutrition during pregnancy are urgently needed to improve maternal and child health. Recommendations for public health programs and nutrition policies were also discussed to address the stunting problem.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia ranked third among ASEAN countries in maternal mortality rate (MMR) in 2017, with 177 deaths per 100,000 live births. This high rate has prompted various governmental initiatives to reduce MMR, with the family planning (FP) program being one of the most effective strategies. However, the uptake of long-acting and permanent contraceptive methods (LAPMs) remains low, particularly due to social and personal barriers. This study aims to analyse the factors influencing the use of long-acting contraceptive methods (LAPMs) among family planning acceptors. Method: A quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study involved 35 FP acceptors selected from a population 62 using accidental sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analysed through the Chi-square test with a significance threshold of α = 0.05. Results: The findings revealed significant associations between LAPM use and three key factors: knowledge (p = 0.036), attitude (p = 0.027), and husband’s support (p = 0.005). Most respondents who did not use LAPMs had poor knowledge, unfavourable attitudes, and lacked spousal support. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between knowledge, attitude, husband’s support and the use of long-acting contraceptive methods. These findings highlight the importance of educational interventions and partner involvement in enhancing LAPM uptake
