Abstract

This study aims to describe the values of character education contained in the poem Es ist Alle Eitel, the work of a German writer named Andreas Gryphius. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis method based on semiotic analysis, in this case semiotic analysis based on the semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Pierce. The results of the analysis show that in this poem there are semiotic signs in the form of indexes and symbols, which reflect the values of character education. The index sign is found more than the symbol sign. While the icon sign is not found in this poem. Furthermore, the character education values contained in this poem are the character of believing and loving God, sincere faithful, humble, empathetic, intelligent responsibility and love for the environment.

Abstract

Metonymy according to the Great Dictionary of Indonesian is metonymia which means disclosure in the form of the use of names for other objects that are brands, distinctive features or attributes. The purpose of this study is to describe words or phrases that point to the disclosure of metonymia in Manado Malay as well as explaining the meaning according to the context based on semantic lexial relationships. The data were collected by participatory observation among students majoring in UNIMA English language education. Then the data were analyzed according to the steps of Bogdan and Biklen (1992). The results of the analysis showed that the use of metonymic speech was found in 5 categories based on the theory of Lakoff and Johnson (1980), namely: container for content, part for whole, face for person, place for institution and producer for product. In order not to have misunderstandings in communicating, every speaker must understand the meaning according to the context of the speech

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the inner structure, physical structure as well as the meaning of the expression of love contained in the poem Nähe Des Geliebten by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with library research as a data collection technique and a structural-semiotic approach as a data analysis technique. In the structural approach there are the essence of poetry and poetic methods, while in semiotics there are heuristic readings, hermeneutic readings, and three aspects of signs according to Pierce namely Icons, Indexes and Symbols. The results of this study conclude that the interesting thing that can be expressed from the poem "Nähe Des Geliebten" is that this poem tells about the extraordinary feelings of love from a woman for her boyfriend. Even though they can't meet and are separated by distance, it doesn't make a woman stop thinking about her lover. The woman faithfully awaits the arrival of her lover every time. And there are various expressions of love that researchers have found in the study of Nähe Des Geliebten's poetry through three aspects of iconic signs, indexes, and symbols according to Pierce, namely expressions of falling in love, restlessness, longing and desire.

Abstract

This study is a Classroom Action Research aimed at investigating the use of songs as a learning media to improve high school students' mastery of verb conjugation at SMA Negeri 2 Tondano. This research adopts Kurt Lewin's Classroom Action Research model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Tondano, specifically in the XI IPS class comprising 15 students. The research was carried out from March to May 2023. The activities were conducted in two cycles over a period of three months. In the first cycle, it was observed that the students were not accustomed to the teaching and learning process that utilized songs as a learning media. This significantly affected the students' level of mastery in verb conjugation for each taught topic. In the second cycle, there was an improvement as both the teacher and students began to familiarize themselves with using songs as a learning media. This was evident from the achievement results, which showed an increase from an average of only 49.9% in the first cycle to 70.8% in the second cycle.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan, menganalisis, dan membandingkan   persamaan dan perbedaan wortstellung (penempatan kata) dalam kalimat sederhana bahasa Jerman dan bahasa Inggris. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan studi kepustakaan (library research) sebagai teknik pengumpulan data serta analisis kontrastif (perbandingan) sebagai teknik analisis data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat persamaan dan perbedaan wortstellung (penempatan kata) dalam kalimat sederhana bahasa Jerman dan bahasa Inggris. Persamaannya adalah kalimat sederhana dalam bahasa Jerman dan bahasa Inggris secara umum memiliki pola yang sama, S + P/V + O/C. Perbedaannya adalah kalimat sederhana dalam bahasa Jerman polanya dapat divariasikan dengan menukarkan posisi subjek dan objek, tetapi posisi verba tetap berada pada urutan kedua sedangkan dalam bahasa Inggris hal ini tidak diterapkan. Selain itu, dalam bahasa Jerman, untuk menyatakan bentuk waktu sekarang dapat memiliki pola S + P/V + O/C, sedangkan dalam bahasa Inggris selain dengan pola yang sama, dapat juga memiliki pola S + to be + Verb-ing + O/C (present continuous tense).

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan yang dibuat siswa dalam melakukan konjugasi Modalverben beserta faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan siswa melakukan kesalahan tersebut. Selain itu penelitian ini memberikan gambaran tentang kesulitan-kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dalam mempelajari Konjugasi Modalverben. Penelitian berlokasi di SMA Negeri 2 Tondano. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian dilaksanakan melalui dokumentasi yang berupa wawancara dan tes tertulis dalam bentuk pilihan ganda (Multiple Choice). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis kesalahan dengan mengacu pada Taksonomi Siasat Permukaan yaitu penghilangan, penambahan, salah formasi dan salah susun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa frekuensi kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh responden berdasarkan taksonomi siasat permukaan yang paling dominan adalah jenis kesalahan penghilangan dan penambahan. Adapun faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan dalam mengkonjugasikan Modalverben yang ditemui peneliti yaitu adanya interferensi bahasa pertama terhadap bahasa kedua, adanya perbedaan kaidah bahasa pertama dan kedua, dan adanya penyamarataan kaidah yang berlebihan. Manfaat dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan data, informasi, dan gambaran faktual tentang kesalahan siswa dalam menggunakan Konjugasi Modalverben serta memberikan masukan kepada para pengajar bahasa Jerman tentang kesulitan pembelajar di SMA Negeri 2 Tondano dalam menentukan dan menggunakan Modalverben, sehingga para pengajar dapat melaksanakan kegiatan pengajaran secara lebih baik.
