Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Hutagogy (Self-Determined Learning) system in basic proficient course training at Pusdiklatcab Jombang, East Java. Hutagogy is a learning approach that gives trainees greater control and responsibility in organizing and directing their own learning. The research method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews with trainees and instructors, and analysis of training-related documents. The results of this study are expected to provide insight into the effectiveness and benefits of implementing the Hutagogy system in the context of basic proficient course training. A significant 75% strongly agree with the use of diverse media in learning, indicating an understanding of the value of multimedia technologies. Furthermore, 50% strongly agree that students actively participate in course assessments, demonstrating a willingness to evaluate and improve the learning process. Finally, an overwhelming 81.3% support a thorough approach to assessment that includes pre-tests, post-tests, reviews, feedback, and reflections, demonstrating commitment to a holistic evaluation process. And all of the finding explained that hutagogy was applied at Pusdiklatcab Jombang , East Java.

Abstract

Abstract

The study aims to address the gap in understanding the effectiveness of project-based learning (PjBL) in enhancing students' creativity and academic performance. Despite increasing interest in PjBL, there is a need to thoroughly examine its alignment with traditional instructional paradigms. The study uses a quasi-experimental method design, stratifying participants into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental arm undergoes a targeted PjBL approach, diverging from the control group, which adheres to conventional teaching methodologies. Over a 12-week duration, data is methodically amassed through pre- and post-tests, encapsulating both quantitative and qualitative metrics to evaluate student performance and ingenuity. Preliminary findings underscore a marked enhancement in both creative output and academic performance among students exposed to PjBL. Nonetheless, the study elucidates potential challenges, such as resource constraints and implementation hurdles, necessitating further elucidation. The study suggests that PjBL can enhance students' creative thinking and academic achievement by inducing innovation, problem-solving skills, and collaboration. Future research should explore its impact on student motivation, engagement, and academic success, as well as its adoption and scalability strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive learning media using Google Earth to enhance the effectiveness of history instruction at the vocational high school (SMK) level. The background of the study stems from the low levels of student interest and understanding regarding historical materials, which are often perceived as abstract and lacking contextual relevance. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, utilizing a modified version of the Borg and Gall development model. The participants in this study were eleventh-grade students enrolled in the Visual Communication Design (DKV) program at SMK PGRI 2 Sidoarjo. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, validation questionnaires completed by media and subject matter experts, and limited trails involving students. The results indicate that the Google Earth-based learning media developed in tsshis study has a high level of feasibility in terms of design, content, and interactivity. This media allows students to visually and spatially investigate historical event sites, in accordance with cognitive learning theory and constructivist theory, both of which highlight the importance of students’ active participation in knowledge construction. As a result, using interactive media that utilizes Google Earth has demonstrated an improvement in students’ understanding and involvement in history. Furthermore, the media supports the implementation of contextual and discovery learning, and is recommended for broader application in history learning at vocational schools.
