Abstract

The nitrite-in-water examination should be noted for the existence of the iron metal cation (Fe+), in the water cation samples can affect the test result of nitrite levels at the time of reading in the UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Na2EDTA Additions function to bind the metal found in the sample as well as chemical disorders as in the presence of chemical formation that can lead to not perfecting the association of substances to be analyzed so as to influence measurements at the time of reading in Spectrophotometer. The nitrite rate assessment was measured using the UV-Vis spectrophotometer method with a wavelength of 534 nm. The measuring rate range is 0.01 mg/L to 1.00 mg/L. There are differences in nitrite-level test results on well-dug water around the TPA with addition and without Na2EDTA using Uv-vis spectrophotometry.

Abstract

Lead as a component of air pollution has broad toxic effects and can be detrimental to humans, such as causing abnormalities in kidney function, digestive tract, nervous system, and hematopoietic disorders. Many people carry out their activities on the highway, one of which is an Angkot driver. Drivers who work on the road daily get direct exposure to air pollution, especially from lead (Pb). Therefore they are very vulnerable to the negative effects of lead (Pb). This study aimed to measure blood lead levels as a biomarker of lead contamination in a driving group in Palembang City. The subjects were drivers who had been working for more than 20 years (average 28 years) and the average age was 58 years. Testing blood lead levels using the APHA method and examining erythrocytes leukocytes and platelets using the impedance method and correlation test using the Spearman test. Based on the results of this study, there is a relationship between blood lead levels and erythrocyte (significance: 0.0019) and leukocyte (significance: 0.002) values, but there is no relationship between blood lead levels and platelet values (significance: 0.4), while blood lead levels in drivers are still within the threshold limit (average: 14.9804 µg/L).

Abstract

Abstract: Community Service is one form of implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education which is closely related to the community. This series of activities is aimed at easing the burden on the community from health problems, especially pregnant women, through preventing the onset of anemia which endangers the delivery process. Anemia itself is a condition of decreased hemoglobin, hematocrit and red blood cell counts below normal values. One of the groups at risk for anemia is pregnant women. The target of this activity is mothers who participate in health services at the Independent Midwife Practice (PMB) Lismarini Palembang. This PMB is located in an area with a high population density. The results of the examination of Hb levels showed as many as 61.9% of respondents did not have anemia, as many as 28.6% of respondents had mild anemia, as many as 9.5% of respondents had moderate anemia. The total of all respondents, namely 21 respondents, none of the respondents had severe anemia. It is hoped that this activity can increase the knowledge of pregnant women about anemia, the nutrients needed to prevent anemia and increase awareness of symptoms after childbirth.
