Abstract

One aspect of preanalytical that may affect the results of erythrocyte examination is the ratio between the volume of blood with an anticoagulant. If the blood volume is insufficient to anticoagulant causes red cells to crenated, and if the blood volume is excess to anticoagulant can cause blood clot. This research is pre experiment with static group comparison design using total sampling technique. The Subject of this research amounted to 34 residents of RT 57 RW 13 Kelurahan Kebun Bunga Sukarami District of Palembang aged 40-50 years. Each subject of research conducted about 3 mL blood sample, then the blood is divided into 2 groups is group one (0.5 mL of blood in K2EDTA tube 2 mL) and group two (2 mL of blood in K2EDTA tube 2 mL). Blood samples were then examined using a Sysmex XS-800i. The results of the examination average number of erythrocytes in blood volume of 0.5 mL and 2 mL with K2EDTA have a difference of as much as 2%. Based on this research can Wilcoxon Sign Rank test results is p=0.011 (p <0.025) is showed a difference red blood count between blood volume of 0.5 mL and 2 mL in K2EDTA tube. Keywords: Preanalytical, blood volume, K2EDTA.

Abstract

Cell phones have become a very important communication tool in everyday life. Considering that many people are in the habit of using their mobile phones while doing other activities, most people even have the habit of taking their phones to the toilet. Cell phones become inanimate objects that play an important role in the transmission of microorganisms. Therefore, we need to maintain hand hygiene by keeping our hands clean after handling the mobile phone before performing activities and disinfecting the mobile phone regularly, considering that this object cannot be washed while the mobile phone is a potential vector for infectious diseases. Mobile phones can effectively eliminate hand hygiene due to their compulsive use despite hand washing. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of 70% alcohol cotton on the surface of mobile phones to reduce the potential spread of bacteria. Based on the results of the research conducted, there is a difference in the number of bacterial colonies on mobile phones before and after disinfection with 70% alcohol cotton, as evidenced by the obtained p-value of 0.0001 (p <0.05).

Abstract

COVID-19 immunization is a government initiative to prevent transmission and reduce the incidence of disease and death associated with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Although the SARS-CoV-2 virus is no longer a significant threat, older adults with comorbidities or people who are immunosuppressed should remain vigilant by maintaining a distance of at least one meter from others, covering their mouths with their elbows when coughing or sneezing, washing their hands regularly, and wearing masks. However, many groups oppose vaccination for various reasons, including the perception that the COVID-19 vaccine is less effective and efficient in preventing SARS-CoV-2 virus infection. This study compared COVID-19 antibody titers in participants who had arrived, without mentioning the vaccine brand, with those who had not yet arrived but had a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study design used a cross-sectional study; the number of samples in the study was 34, the location of this study was the Palembang Public Health Laboratory Center, and the statistical test in the study used the Independent T-test. The study results indicate that the mean antibody titer in the vaccinated group was 98.123. In contrast, in the unvaccinated group, it was 70.641, demonstrating a statistically significant difference with a p-value of 0.000. Further research suggests whether there is a relationship between antibody titers in subjects who have been vaccinated for the second and third time with a history of exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

Abstract

Abstract: Community Service is one form of implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education which is closely related to the community. This series of activities is aimed at easing the burden on the community from health problems, especially pregnant women, through preventing the onset of anemia which endangers the delivery process. Anemia itself is a condition of decreased hemoglobin, hematocrit and red blood cell counts below normal values. One of the groups at risk for anemia is pregnant women. The target of this activity is mothers who participate in health services at the Independent Midwife Practice (PMB) Lismarini Palembang. This PMB is located in an area with a high population density. The results of the examination of Hb levels showed as many as 61.9% of respondents did not have anemia, as many as 28.6% of respondents had mild anemia, as many as 9.5% of respondents had moderate anemia. The total of all respondents, namely 21 respondents, none of the respondents had severe anemia. It is hoped that this activity can increase the knowledge of pregnant women about anemia, the nutrients needed to prevent anemia and increase awareness of symptoms after childbirth.
