Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between learning motivation and the ability to write descriptions, mastery of sentence structure and writing skills, and the relationship between learning motivation and mastery of sentence structure and ability to write descriptions. The research method used in this study is correlational, a type of research designed to determine or describe the relationship between existing variables. This study describes the relationship between learning motivation (X1) and mastery of sentence structure (X2) with the ability to write descriptions (Y). The findings showed that learning motivation and mastery of sentence structure are the essential variables that need attention to improve the ability to write reports of students of class VIII SMP, especially class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Way Tuba. in general. Motivation to learn and mastery of sentence structure is the essential part that students must master to improve their ability to write descriptions. The ability to write reports can increase if students have high mastery of sentence structure. Both aspects need to be enhanced by the teacher in line with efforts to improve the ability to write descriptions of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 4 Way Tuba.

Abstract

This study aims to increase learning activities by applying a heuristic approach to learning to improve listening ability and learning activities for Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Trimurjo in the 2018/2019 academic year by applying a heuristic approach. This research method is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection techniques in research are observation, documentation, and tests. The technique used in this research is a written test technique, which is to obtain data from the test results of each cycle. Based on the analysis of observational data. There is an improvement in listening ability through a heuristic approach in class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Trimurjo in the 2018/2019 academic year. Therefore, student activity has achieved an indicator of student activity success increasing at least well.

Abstract

This study aims to improve speaking skills through storytelling techniques for class VIII G students of SMP Negeri 21 Bandar Lampung. This research method is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique was based on observation and speaking skill tests through storytelling techniques. From the analysis of observation data, speaking skills through storytelling techniques for class VIII G SMP Negeri 21 Bandar Lampung in the pre-action stage obtained an average score of 11.53, in the post-action cycle I increased to 14.13, and in the post-action cycle II also increased to 16.06. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that storytelling techniques can improve speaking skills in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 21 Bandar Lampung.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of online word cards in improving the quality of learning in Lampung literacy writing skills and to find out the increase in Lampung writing skills in students in class V MIN 4 Pringsewu. The problems raised in this study were 1) to find out the use of online word cards in improving the quality of learning of writing skills in Lampung literacy. 2) to find out the improvement in Lampung writing skills in class V MIN 4 Pringsewu. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with research subjects V MIN 4 Pringsewu. This research was conducted in two cycles. Researchers provide guidance as a collaborator to the fifth-grade teacher on the application of word cards to improve the writing skills of Lampung students in grade V which is still very low. Therefore, this research can be said to be collaborative class action research. The subjects of this study were 27 students. The results of the study can be concluded as follows: first, the word card media can improve the quality of the learning process of Lampung students' writing skills online for class V MIN 4 Pringsewu. Students experience changes in behavior (improvement) in online learning. Second, word cards can improve the product/results of Lampung students' writing skills online grade V MIN 4 Pringsewu. Improvement of product quality/results can be seen from the comparison of the average writing scores at the pre-action and post-cycle stage II.
