Abstract

Multi-soil-layering (MSL) is well-known as an emerging technology for wastewater treatment. However, limited studies have been conducted on the crumb rubber industry. Thus, this study aims to reduce the crumb rubber industrial wastewater using MSL system. Four models of MSL conducted it. They are (1) constructed by body size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal; (2) body size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil, fine charcoal, sawdust, and iron particles; (3) tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal; and (4) tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil, fine charcoal and sawdust. The construction models were installed in the variance of the box and each of them was flowed by the Hydraulic Loading Rate of wastewater. Aeration treatment is given to the maximum hydraulic loading rate. The result showed that MSL systems significantly minimize the crumb rubber industrial wastewater under requirements that cover Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Total Nitrogen (T-N) and Total ammonia (T-NH3). It also significantly neutralizes the power of Hydrogen (pH) up to 6. The highest reduction was obtained by the MSL 3 system (tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal). The aeration significantly decreased the BOD, COD, TSS, and ammonia from 85% to 99%. Although the aeration process enhanced the performance of MSL system, however, MSL without aeration successfully treated the wastewater to meet the required standard. This study provides new insight into the effectiveness of MSL system in reducing pollutant parameters of crum rubber industrial wastewater.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain the best color formulation of aromatherapy candles using grapefruit oil with patchouli essential oil fixative and to analyze the business feasibility of grapefruit aromatherapy candles. This research was conducted from June to August 2021 in the quality testing laboratory for the Agroindustry study program, Pangkep State Agricultural Polytechnic. This research was conducted using an experimental method with two stages, namely; first, making aromatherapy candles which aims to get the best color concentration in aromatherapy candles with a hedonic test, after the hedonic test with the best color will proceed to further research, namely the stage of selecting the aromatherapy candle aroma of grapefruit essential oil as a binder added with patchouli oil. Business continuity analysis is carried out by looking for investment costs, variable costs, profits, production Break Even Point (BEP), price Break Even Point (BEP), Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR), and pay back period. The results showed that the best color formulation of aromatherapy candles was in the A3 treatment with a color concentration of 1.5% with an average of 3.6. The best aromatherapy candle formulation was in treatment B3 with a concentration of 2.5% grapefruit oil and 0.25% patchouli oil fixative with an average hedonic test result of 4.36. The best formulation of the effect of aromatherapy candles was in treatment B3 with a concentration of 2.5% grapefruit oil and 0.25% patchouli oil fixative with an average organoleptic test result of 6.52 and 80% of the panelists felt relaxed, comfortable, fresh and somewhat refreshed. The results of the Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) calculation analysis in the aromatherapy business with a BCR value of 1.11 indicate that this business is feasible to develop.

Abstract

Tujuan dari program pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas produk usaha laundry melalui peningkatan pemahaman mitra mengenai: pentingnya pemakaian bahan-bahan laundry yang aman dan ramah lingkungan, penyediaan bahan-bahan dasar kebutuhan laundry secara mandiri seperti deterjen, pewangi dan penghilang noda, serta administrasi pembukuan keuangan dan pemasaran. Metode pelaksanaan program pengabdian meliputi penyuluhan, pelatihan dan pembinaan. Program pelatihan pembuatan deterjen cair, pewangi dan penghilang noda telah menjadikan kedua mitra mampu membuat sendiri bahan-bahan kebutuhan laundry tersebut. Penyuluhan terkait Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja (K3) menjadikan mitra memahami bahaya bahan-bahan laundry dan telah mampu menerapkan cara menjalankan laundry sesuai prinsip K3. Pembinaan dilakukan untuk memastikan keberlanjutan program pada kedua mitra. Program pengabdian juga berdampak pada peningkatan omzet kedua mitra yaitu rata-rata sebesar 15%. Capaian lain dari program pengabdian ini adalah terbentuknya jenis usaha baru yaitu usaha produksi pewangi pada mitra Alfa Laundry dan Mammy Laundry.Kata Kunci: deterjen, laundry, pewangi, penghilang noda.
