<![CDATA[This community service program centers on the activities of empowering youth groups in response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s impacts on economy. It is intended to target those experiencing the loss of job due to company’s manpower reduction. The program is specifically conducted to the youth group in the village of Kerobokan Kaja, which is located in Badung regency, Bali province. The focus of activities is on the training of making digital design for the products that the participants want to sell and to widen the youth group’s knowledge on the features of online marketing. The participants were involved in the activity of both online meeting and face to face consultation with the strict health protocols since the program is conducted during the pandemic time. The method applied here was the combination presentation, tutorial, discussion and practice. They joined actively in the sharing of tips and tricks to make a digital design using Canva application and of understanding marketing strategies in the marketplace. Despite the limited access of interaction due to the pandemic, the program had given a significant contribution to the participants because they could apply their new knowledge as the alternative to get income while facing the loss of job. <![CDATA[This study aims to analyze the sustainability of the “Jempiring” Women Farmers Group, Badung Regency through the implementation of tri hita karana local wisdom. This study uses secondary data sources. The types of data include qualitative data. The data analysis technique is using qualitative analysis. Based on the results of the discussion, it can be concluded that the sustainability of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) "Jempiring" in Badung Regency is still running. This is due to the belief of the group members to continue to implement the local wisdom of tri hita karana in terms of parayangan, pawongan and palemahan. The implementation of various rituals (religious ceremonies) as a form of devotion to Ida Hang Hyang Widhi Waca, for the yadnya human ceremony, as well as for the implementation of the nyomia butha kala ceremony, continues.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to find out Kutanese parents’ attitudes towards Balinese, Indonesian, and Englis, as well as their strategies to develop their children language abilities. Participants in this study were twelve parents. The method for collecting the data was recorded interview and the recordings were then transcribed to facilitate research. The data was analized using family language policy and language strategies theories. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the participants have very positive attitudes towards Balinese, Indonesian and English. Their positive attitude is also in line with the strategy they are doing, where they want their children to grow up as multilingual children. Of the three languages, English is the language with the most varied strategies.]]>

<![CDATA[Desa Tangguntiti adalah sebuah desa yang berada di Kecamatan Selemadeg timur, Kabupaten Tabanan, Provinsi Bali. Desa dengan luas wilayah 1760,384 ha. Selama ini hanya fokus pada tanaman padi saja. Dalam pengabdian ini dicoba untuk melakukan pembelajaran melalui penyuluhan tanam Jagung NASA 29 (Nakula Sahadewa) 29 dan BIMA URI (Untuk Rakyat Indonesia) di Subak Aseman IV Desa Tanguntiti Selemadeg Timur Tabanan agar petani dapat meningkatkan pendapatan sebagai upaya awal untuk peningkatan kesejahtraan petani selanjutnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah penyuluhan yakni melalui tahap persiapan, kegiatan penyuluhan, praktek dan pendampingan dan evaluasi. Kesimpulan dari hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran melalui penyuluhan tanam Jagung NASA 29 (Nakula Sahadewa) 29 dan BIMA URI (Untuk Rakyat Indonesia) di Subak Aseman IV Desa Tanguntiti Selemadeg Timur Tabanan dapat meningkatkan pendapatan petani selama 3 bulan dari penanaman sampai panen yakni jagung NASA 29 mencapai 10.50 ton per hektar. Jagung BIMA URI mencapai 11.42 ton per hektar. Ini adalah langkah awal untuk peningkatan kesejahtraan petani selanjutnya. Karena semua memberikan manfaat bagi petani yakni daunnya bisa dijual ke singaraja untuk bahan pembungkus jajan dodol, batangnya sama daun untuk makanan ternak, bisa digunakan untuk pupuk dengan cara dicacah dengan kotoran sapi.]]>

<![CDATA[Many people use social media as a medium to interact with others, especially on Twitter. We usually see teenagers use slang words to communicate on social media Twitter and we know it as internet slang. This research aimed to discover the types of slang on the “Kevin Hart” Twitter account. In this study, the descriptive qualitative method was used to explain what types of slang and the meaning of slang. The writer used a theory of the types of slang by Allan and Burridge (2006). After collecting the data, the writer tabulated the slang words that had been found; divided the types and characteristics of the words; interpreted the meanings; and drew a conclusion. This study finds the types of slang in each variation, there are fresh and creative 3 data, flippant 3 data, imitative 13 data, acronym 1 data, and clipping 2 data.]]>

<![CDATA[Desa Jatiluwih memiliki potensi besar sebagai destinasi wisata alam dan budaya di Bali. Salah satu daya tarik utama Desa Jatiluwih adalah sistem subak tradisional yang diakui sebagai Situs Warisan Dunia oleh UNESCO. Potensi tersebut tentunya harus didukung oleh masyarakat setempat, salah satunya dengan kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang baik. Pelatihan bahasa Inggris ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris Kelompok Usaha Bersama dan Tenaga Kebersihan di Desa Jatiluwih. Pelatihan dilakukan secara luring dan terdiri dari beberapa kegiatan, yaitu pemaparan materi, role play, dan aktivitas ice breaking. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan bahasa Inggris, peserta menyatakan bahwa materi yang diberikan sangat bermanfaat dan mereka berharap akan diadakan pelatihan lanjutan agar mereka bisa semakin lancar berkomunikasi dengan wisatawan asing. Dengan kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang baik, potensi pariwisata Desa Jatiluwih bisa menjadi semakin optimal dan dapat menjadikan desa ini sebagai destinasi wisata unggulan.]]>

<![CDATA[The phenomenon of slang words is one of the factors of English literature development in modern era. Slang word is an identity of individual’s linguistic style to express their norms in the society, by conveying certain types of slang and placing it within different contextual topic of discussion. In the context of slang word distribution and role in daily conversation Slang language used under certain circumstances whether it’s informal or formal and to whom they speak to and also considered the politeness to the elder people. To study further of slang usage among people in context of media, this research used the video interview of Rich Chigga with Joey Franchize as an object of examination. The research employs qualitative approach, Qualitative research is used through observation of the video and aimed to extract information about slang words conveyed by both communicators and classified it according to Allan and Burdige of The Types of Slang Theory. The classifications are divided into four parts, namely Fresh and Creative, Imitative, Clipping, Flippant, and Acronym. The classifications of data are studied further by using American Slang Theory according to Zhou & Fan to analyze further the meaning of exemplary data based on Pursuit or Self-Identity, Emotive Feelings, and Achieving Politeness. The result showed 22 data collected from the video and the most slang type expressed is Imitative due to its connection with urban world and modern culture embodied by the communicators.]]>

<![CDATA[The use of figurative language in Philip David Wickham’s songs can make the words sound lovely and intriguing. The aims of this research are to identify different kinds of figurative language and their interpretations in four songs from Philip David Wickham’s album “The Ascension”. The study employs a qualitative approach in order to provide a thorough description of the problems identified. The observation method was used in collecting the data. The researchers discovered sixteen pieces of data that contain figurative language in Philip David Wickham’s songs based on the discussion and analysis data, and there are four kinds of figurative language found in the song lyrics, such as simile, metaphor, personification, and hyperbole. Hyperbole is the most common form of figurative language in Philip David Wickham’s songs. The types of meaning used in song lyrics containing figurative language are connotative and conceptual meanings. These two types of meaning are the most widely used in interpreting the meaning of Philip David Wickham’s song lyrics.]]>

<![CDATA[When a speaker ignores maxims of the principle of cooperation or fails to convey the hidden meaning of an utterance, this phenomenon is known as maxim disrespect. The disregarded maxim of the movie “Taxi Driver” is the subject of this study. Taxi Driver is a 1976 American drama and crime film directed by Martin Scorsese. This study is intended to identify the relevance of various ignoring maxims that appear in the film and to explain their occurrence. Ignorance of relevance occurs because the interlocutor must be as true as necessary or convey information based on what is happening in real life. Researchers draw on ideas from Grice’s Principle of Cooperation (1975). This study uses direct observation methods and qualitative descriptions in data analysis. As a result, the movie The Taxi Driver has at least 19 flouting maxim data, of which there are five results from the maxim relevance obtained from the conversational dialogue on the main character. From the 5 data, the author has also provided an analysis and answered various possibilities for the occurrence of flouting relevance either from the views of the speaker or listener. Flouting relevance occurs because the participants of the conversation have to be as truthful as required or should give the information based on what happens in real life. To sum up, there are various reasons why the character flouts relevance, including jokes and denial of a statement. However, it all returns to each character’s role, which makes the scene more perfect.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this study is to know the various types of code switching found in The Friday Podcast, especially in episode 213. Descriptive qualitative method is used to analyse the data. This study analyzed the different types of code switching using Appel & Muysken theory of Bilingualism, as presented in their book entitled Language Contact and Bilingualism (1987). There are three types of code switching stated by Appel & Muysken. The findings of this study revealed that all three types of Code Switching were discovered in The Friday Podcast. Intra-Sentential switching is the most common sort of code-switching occurrence in The Friday Podcast. Meanwhile, Intersentential-Switching is the speaker's least dominant data. For the conclusion, the reason why intrasentential-switching got the most occurrences in this podcast because the audience of this podcast is Indonesian people who are the majority of it not really fluent in English. The speakers in this podcast also using the familiar English terms that Indonesian society frequently heard.]]>
