Abstract

The ability of betel nut skin as a biosorbent at a low cost to remove the metal ions Cd (II) from the solution has been investigated. This study shows the effect of pH of the solution, contact time and initial concentration on the absorption capacity of betel nut skin. The result of measurement of metal ion content of Cd (II) using AAS shows that optimum pH of biosorption is 6 and the optimum contact time is 15 minutes, while the optimum initial concentration of biosorption is 50 ppm. Based on FTIR spectroscopic spectra, it can be concluded that the functional groups which act as binding metal ions Cd (II) by betel nut skin as biosorbent are amine function group (N-H), alcohol (O-H) and carbonyl (C = O). The result of the langmuir isotherm obtained by the price of Q (maximum absorption) for metal Cd is 1.14 mg / g.

Abstract

Abstrak Seiring dengan meningkatnya kebutuhan hidup manusia maka semakin banyak pemanfaatan sumber daya alam bahan bakar fosil. Pemanfaatan bahan bakar fosil dapat meningkatkan emisi gas di atmosfer dan pemanasan global. Hal inilah yang mendorong banyak penelitian mencari sumber bahan bakar alternatif, seperti bioetanol. Artikel ini disusun untuk mengetahui potensi pemanfaatan limbah organik melalui proses fermentasi untuk menghasilkan bioetanol, khususnya membahas peran mikroorganisme, kondisi dan metode fermentasi bioetanol yang optimal. Metode penulisan yang digunakan adalah literature review berdasarkan analisa yang dilakukan pada berbagaisumber literature. Metode Solid State Fermentasi (SSF) merupakan metode yang paling sering digunakan dan menghasilkan konsentrasi bioetanol yang cukup tinggi, dari analisa yang dilakukan kondisi optimum untuk memproduksi bioetanol dari kulit buah berada pada kisaran pH 4,5-6, dan kisaran waktu fermentasi 24-120 jam, pada sumber organik lain (seperti limbah nasi basi, limbah air cucian beras, limbah popok bayi, limbah sayuran rumah tangga dan lain-lain) adalah pH 4,6-6, dan 35-130 jam. Kadar bioetanol terbaik terdapat pada produksi bioetanol dari limbah kulit onggok yaitu sebesar 92% melalui penambahan starter dan waktu fermentasi 7 hari. Bioetanol dari limbah kulit onggok ini yang berpotensi lebih lanjut untuk menjadi campuran bahan bakar bensin agar dapat mengurangi penggunaan bahan bakar fosil, selain itu bioetanol dari limbah kulit onggok ini juga dapat dimanfaatkan oleh industri farmasi, industri minuman beralkohol dan desinfektan. Kata Kunci : Bioetanol, Limbah Organik, EBT, Manfaat. Abstract Along with the increasing needs of human life, more and more utilization of natural resources of fossil fuels. The utilization of fossil fuels can increase gas emissions in the atmosphere and global warming. This is what encourages many studies to look for alternative fuel sources, such as bioethanol. This article was prepared to determine the potential utilization of organic waste through the fermentation process to produce bioethanol, specifically discussing the role of microorganisms, conditions and optimal bioethanol fermentation methods. The writing method used is literature review, based on the analysis conducted on various sources of literature, solid state fermentation (SSF) method is the most frequently used method and produces a fairly high concentration of bioethanol, from the analysis conducted the optimum conditions for producing bioethanol from fruit peels are in the range of pH 4, 5-6, and the range of fermentation time 24-120 hours, on other organic sources (such as stale rice waste, rice washing water waste, baby diaper waste, household vegetable waste and others) is pH 4.6-6, and 35-130 hours with the best bioethanol content is found in the production of bioethanol from onggok skin waste which is 92% through the addition of starter and fermentation time of 7 days. Bioethanol from onggok skin waste has further potential to be a mixture of gasoline fuel in order to reduce the use of fossil fuels, besides that bioethanol from onggok skin waste can also be utilized by the pharmaceutical industry, alcoholic beverage industry and disinfectants. Abstract

Health and economic self-reliance are two essential aspects in improving the quality of life, particularly for housewives in RT 05 RW 05, Lembah Sari Subdistrict, Rumbai Timur. This community service activity aimed to provide training in the production of kombucha probiotic drinks, which function as immunomodulators and have the potential to serve as an additional source of income. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which actively involved the community throughout the entire process—from problem identification to reflection on outcomes. The training was conducted in three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the activity showed an increase in the housewives' understanding of the benefits of kombucha and their ability to produce the drink independently.

Abstract

This research was instigated with the lack of student ability in processing the knowledge gained and the limited learning media in the learning process.  This research aimed at finding out the validity and practicality levels of animation learning video on Colloid lesson.  The development procedures were based on Borg and Gall model which was carried out in only 5 stages consisting of collecting data, planning, developing a product, field testing, and revising the initial product.  The research was conducted at State Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru.  Interview and questionnaire were used to collect data.  The instruments of collecting data were validity and practicality test questionnaires.  Animation video learning medium tested was valid with the percentages 88.57% (very valid) by media experts and 88.33% (very valid) by material experts, and it was tested practically with the percentages 95.38% (very practical) by 2 Chemistry subject teachers and 88.06% by 15 students (very practical).  Based on these results, it was concluded that animation video medium on Colloid lesson was valid and practical so that product test could be carried out at the next stage.

Abstract

The pyrazole scaffold modification in various chemical structures on several studies has shown various biopharmacological activities. This study aims to predict the potential inhibition of pyrazole analogs derived benzene-sulfonylurea (4A, 4B, 4E, 5A, 5C, 5D) against the α-glucosidase (3A4A) and aldose reductase (3RX2) enzymes based on a molecular docking approach using Molecular Operating Environment (MOE) 2020.0102 software and evaluate pharmacokinetic profile (ADMET). In this study, the six test compounds were obtained from previous studies that have been proven antihyperglycemic. The results showed that all the 3,5-disubstituted benzene-sulfonylurea derivative pyrazole analogs are predicted to have low inhibitory activity against the α-glucosidase enzyme. Further, all compounds showed good aldose reductase inhibitor activity and had lower binding free energy values ​​than tolrestat as the positive control (-6.82 kcal/mol). Compound 5C has the best potential inhibitory activity against the aldose reductase enzyme compared to the other test compounds, because it has the lowest binding free energy value (-8.76 kcal/mol) and interacts with important residues on the receptor forming four hydrogen bonds, namely the carbonyl group of SO2 with residues Trp111 and His110, and the carbonyl group of the amide with residues His110 and Tyr48, as well as 3 hydrophobic bonds, namely a pyrazole ring with residues Leu300, Trp219 and a furan ring with Phe122. ADMET properties of the compounds are also predicted. This information provides an opportunity for a 5C compound as an aldose reductase inhibitor agent to develop drug candidates with better and safer activities.
