Abstract

Various characteristics of land use and plant canopy density will result in different soil physical qualities and groundwater transfer capacities, affecting groundwater reserves, drainage, runoff, and erosion, as well as agricultural output. Naharuddin, 2018; Risamasu and Marlissa, 2020; Naharuddin et al., 2020). This study aims to determine the correlation between the C potential of biomass and the soil quality index (IKT) on various types of dry land use in Aceh Besar district. This research was carried out on a unit of land in a dry area in Aceh Besar district with a study area of 239,439.63 ha. Analysis of biomass samples and soil samples was carried out at the Laboratory of Soil and Plant Sciences and Soil Physics Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Syiah Kuala. The partners of this community service activity are students of the Indonesian Polytechnic and students of the Agrotechnology study program at Iskandar Muda University. The relationship between potential C Biomass and soil quality index is in a strong correlation. It is hoped that all students of the Venezuelan Indonesian Polytechnic and students of Agrotechnology at Iskandar Muda University. be able to understand how to take samples of biomass and soil and be able to use the SPSS 24 program or Microsoft Excel to process the results of the correlation test. For further community service, other soil fertility parameters are also calculated which are related to the soil quality index for different regions.

Abstract

This research examines the effect of rice husk biochar and manure on the growth of shallots and the interaction between the two treatments carried out. This research was conducted in Gampong Pineung, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh, from September to December 2023. The method used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a 3x3 factorial design and three replications. The factors tested in this research were the dose of rice husk biochar (0, 10, and 20 tons/ha) and the dose of manure (0, 10, and 20 tons/ha). Several parameters were observed, such as plant height at the age of 15, 30, and 45 dap, the number of tubers per clump at the age of 30 and 45 dap, the weight of wet tubers and dry tubers per clump, and the potential yield per hectare. The results of the research showed that the dose of biochar had a very significant impact on plant height at 30 and 45 dap, the weight of wet tubers, the weight of dry tubers, and the potential yield per hectare. Plant height at 15, 30, and 45 dap, number of tubers per hill at 30 and 45 dap, wet and dry tuber weight per hill, and potential yield per hectare. The study showed that plant height at 30 and 45, wet tuber weight, dry tuber weight, and potential yield per hectare were all significantly affected by biochar dosage. It had no visible impact on the number of tubers per hill at 30 and 45 dap, or on plant height at 15. Plant height at 15 and 30 days was significantly affected by manure application, but plant height at 45 dap, number of tubers per hill at 30 and 45 dap, wet and dry tuber weight, and potential yield per hectare were not affected. In the study of shallot growth and yield results, there was no clear interaction between manure dosage and rice husk biochar

Abstract

Waste management is a global issue affecting cities worldwide. The increase in population and the intensity of community activities directly contribute to the increasing volume of waste piles. One of the most significant impacts of this problem is evident in the school environment, where waste accumulation is often a challenge that has not been optimally addressed. This problem is caused by the low level of knowledge and skills of school residents in managing waste, especially organic waste. Therefore, educational and practical efforts are needed to process organic waste, one of which is the manufacture of Eco-Enzyme. The purpose of this activity is to improve the understanding and skills of teachers, education personnel, and students of SD Negeri 2 Jeumpet, Darul Imarah District, Aceh Besar Regency, in processing organic waste into Eco-Enzyme products and to foster awareness and motivation of the school community in supporting environmental conservation and improving the quality of public health. The activity was conducted at SDNegeri 2 Jeumpet, Darul Imarah District, Aceh Besar Regency, from September 20 to December 20, 2024. The series of activities included socialisation and training on the production of eco-enzymes. The evaluation results showed that the participants of the activity, namely teachers, education personnel, and students, showed an increase in knowledge and skills in processing organic waste into Eco-Enzyme. The Eco-Enzyme product produced is used as a cleaning fluid for the environment around the school and home, as well as a liquid fertiliser for yard plants. Overall, this community service activity has a positive impact on increasing environmental awareness among school residents and contributes to forming new mindsets and behaviours that are more responsible for managing organic waste
