Abstract

English for Nursing (ENP) focuses on developing the need for English, which can support medical personnel's work and fulfill professional assessment needs. Learning English from many media, one of them through video, can give nursing students experience about their work in the real world by studying what the video presents. This recent study aims to explain the realization of ideational meaning and its relations to visual aspect as the semiotic systems in English for Nurses Videos. This study was a qualitative study that used discourse analysis. The data were taken from conversation text and captured images on the three videos on Virginia Allum’s YouTube channel. This study implemented multimodal analysis to observe the ideational meaning as the linguistic and visual aspects of the videos. The ideational meaning was analyzed using SFL to later look for its relationship with the visual aspect. This study found that ideational meaning and visual aspects are related to their video presentation. The type of process is dominated by 77 relational processes, 37 actors, and 11 manner as the circumstance. Visual aspects indicate the characteristics following the themes surrounding the hospital, health, and the identity of the nursing profession itself. Ideas and visuals support each other because they simultaneously provide experience to the viewer through the video being watched without the viewer doing the action themselves. This study suggested that lecturers and students can consider this study’s result to improve the use of videos as multimodal text to support teaching learning activities in English for Nursing.

Abstract

In the digital era, digital marketing has become the main strategy for MSMEs to increase competitiveness. This study analyzes the influence of digital marketing, product innovation, and market orientation on MSME marketing performance. The method used is a literature review of various previous studies to identify the relationship between variables. The results of the study indicate that digital marketing expands market reach and increases promotion effectiveness, but its effectiveness depends on product innovation and marketing strategy. Product innovation increases competitiveness, while market orientation helps understand customer needs. This study highlights the need for integration of these three factors to optimize MSME marketing performance and provide insights for business actors and academics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the division of gender roles within small-scale fishing households and to identify the empowerment of fishers’ wives that has already taken place in Juwana District. The research focuses on two villages in Juwana District, Pati Regency: Bendar and Bumirejo. The approach used in this study is mixed methods, combining a quantitative approach with descriptive statistics and a qualitative approach using triangulation. Data are collected through in-depth interviews with 60 fisher families using the snowball sampling method. The results show that women in fishing households play a crucial role not only in domestic (reproductive) affairs but also in economic (productive) activities such as fish processing, entrepreneurship, and cooperative management. Furthermore, women are active in social and community activities (managing community). Women’s empowerment is reflected in three main dimensions: resources (access to training, capital, and social support), agency (the ability to make decisions within the family and community), and achievements (increased financial independence and family welfare). The success of empowerment is supported by women’s confidence and skills, family support-especially from husbands-and facilitation from the government and other stakeholders.

Abstract

Background: Health education plays a crucial role in improving patients’ knowledge and adherence, with digital media such as digital booklets increasingly adopted for their accessibility, flexibility, and effectiveness in enhancing patient self-management. However, the effectiveness of educational media is highly dependent on its readability level. Materials with poor readability may lead to misunderstanding and reduced engagement. This study aimed to identify the readability level of a digital booklet for productive-age adults with hypertension as an initial step to ensure the effectiveness of digital health education media. Method: This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a research and development (R&D) approach to develop a digital educational booklet using the Heyzine platform, enhanced with AI-generated voice-over. Readability testing was conducted among 21 productive-age adults with hypertension in Semarang City using the Cloze Test, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), and a subjective questionnaire. Expert validation was performed by two reviewers specializing in community nursing and Indonesian language using The Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool–Printable version (PEMAT-P), which evaluates the domains of understandability and actionability. Result: The readability test results showed excellent scores, with a Cloze Test score of 94.29%, MCQ score of 92%, and a subjective questionnaire mean score of 4.22 out of 5. The expert validation using PEMAT-P indicated an understandability score of 79.41% and an actionability score of 78.57%, suggesting that the digital booklet is suitable for use as an educational tool for hypertension management. Conclusion: The readability and expert validation results demonstrated that the digital booklet possessed high levels of understandability and applicability (Cloze Test 94.29%; MCQ 92%; subjective questionnaire 4.22; PEMAT-P 78.99%), making it a feasible medium for health education among productive-age adults with hypertension. Future research is recommended to involve larger samples, more expert reviewers, and additional readability assessment instruments.
