Abstract

Abstract

The criticality of the Binanga Lumbua watershed is that it contributes to the decline in the income per capita of Jeneponto Regency. This is also one of the reasons why Jeneponto Regency is the only area in South Sulawesi Province that is included in the category of underdeveloped areas. Looking at the physical condition of this area which has a varied topography and fertile soil, this area should have potential economic value for the development of forestry, plantation crops, and food crop agriculture. The results of previous research were the identification of drought using a hydrological approach both qualitatively and quantitatively. Then, provide directions for spatial use based on drought prevention efforts. So that in this follow-up research, the goal to be achieved is to design a 'one river one plan concept' in the comprehensive arrangement of the Binanga Lumbua watershed to realize sustainable development. The analysis used is in the form of qualitative descriptive and spatial analysis. The result of this research is a mapping of the watershed planning concept in the form of a site plan

Abstract

Flood is a disaster that often occurs in big cities in Indonesia, caused by the high density of buildings and the unpreparedness of infrastructure to adapt. Urban Areas of Bulukumba Regency (UABR) is one of the centers of urban areas that has experienced flooding in recent years. The urban area ofBulukumba Regency is a downstream area of the Bialo Watershed whose upstream area is also in the Bantaeng Regency area. Rapid urban development has resulted in a change in land cover to become built-up land so that catchment areas are narrower in the middle and downstream zones, as well as changes in vegetation in the upstream zone which has received land conversion from forest areas to plantation areas. In addition to the potential for flooding due to river flow, the urban area of Bulukumba also has the potential for flooding due to sea tides or tidal floods. The high level of hazard flood potential has not been followed up with sustainable flood management based on disaster risk reduction in the UABR. Based on this, it is necessary to study the level of risk of flooding in the Urban Area of Bulukumba Regency and an appropriate strategy to reduce the risk of flooding in the Urban Area ofBulukumba. The aim of this research is; (1) identify the level of risk of flooding in the UABR; and (2) formulate an appropriate strategy as an effort to reduce the risk of flood disaster in the UABR. The research approach used is the mixed method, with the analytical method used for data processing in the form of risk analysis, spatial analysis namely overlay analysis using GIS software and qualitative descriptive in formulating strategies. The results of this study are a map of the level of flood disaster risk and recommendations for flood risk reduction strategies in the UABR.

Abstract

Climate change and global warming have caused widespread environmental degradation. These impacts are directly experienced in Indonesia, particularly in the urban area of Bulukumba Regency, specifically in Ujung Bulu District. The increase in land use changes toward built-up areas has influenced the intensity of the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. This study aims to analyze the effect of land use change on the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon in Bulukumba Regency during the periods of 2014, 2019, and 2024. A quantitative method was employed through satellite image interpretation to identify land use changes and analyze surface temperature using Landsat 8 Band 10 imagery data. The results indicate an increase in surface temperature in the urban area of Bulukumba Regency throughout the 2014–2024 period. The simple linear regression analysis shows a significant positive correlation between land use change and surface temperature increase, with a regression coefficient (r = 0.734) and a coefficient of determination (R² = 0.81), which falls into the high category. Furthermore, areas with high surface temperatures tend to follow the spatial pattern of densely built-up land use.
