Abstract

Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) or Acidic Acidic Drainage (AAT) is a type of water runoff that happens when certain sulfide minerals in rocks come in contact with water and oxygen, triggering an oxidation process that results in water with acidic properties. To understand more about this phenomenon, a literature review was conducted using relevant keywords on online information sources. The indicators used to measure the level of acidity in mine water include pH, metal concentration, Total Suspended Solid (TSS) or turbidity level, electrical conductivity, sulfate, and sulfuric acid content. High electrical conductivity in mine water usually indicates the presence of metals such as Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn). High levels of Manganese (Mn) in water can cause human health problems. Moreover, an increase in the concentration of Iron Metal (Fe) can cause an increase in turbidity or TSS because iron metal can dissolve in air and form solid particles that can cause turbidity. Passive or active treatment techniques can neutralize AMD to reduce acidity and environmental pollution.

Abstract

Land use planning is the use of land for certain purposes. One issue that may arise during land planning is whether the land is appropriate or suitable for a particular purpose. For local governments, it is very important to know the income potential that exists through land use planning. One of the benefits of writing this article is to get an overview of environmental conditions and the efforts of the Pesisir Selatan Regency government in environmental management. With the increase in population, quality of life, and community welfare, land is needed to meet various needs and facilities. However, the amount of land is relatively fixed, which causes problems in land use in rural and urban areas. This study investigates the conditions of Land Use, Land Conversion, and Potential in Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research produces several conclusions, namely 1) Land in Pesisir Selatan Regency is very suitable for plantation cultivation because of its condition; and 2) Pesisir Selatan Regency has a lot of potential for mining, coastal and marine cultivation, mangroves, and coral reefs.

Abstract

The potential and unique natural resources in the Pariaman Mangrove Forest have a very significant role in the economic, social, cultural, and environmental development of coastal communities. Environmental management of the Pariaman Mangrove Forest is one of the efforts to support the development of coastal areas optimally, wisely, and responsibly, of course by involving community participation and various related parties and while still paying attention to the environmental carrying capacity of the Pariaman Mangrove Forest. This research aims to provide an overview of community activity in managing the Mangrove Forest environment in Pariaman City. Enthusiasm, desires, and hopes as well as the social concern of the local community are forms of community participation in efforts to manage the Mangrove Forest environment. Community participation is a supporting factor in efforts to develop the coastal area of Pariaman City. The description of community participation in the environmental management of Mangrove Forests is shown by the high level of community desire to protect and preserve them as well as their hope for efforts to protect or improve Mangrove Forests. The form of community participation is voluntary or self-directed participation.

Abstract

Increasing atmospheric CO₂ concentrations contribute to climate change, with industrial and economic activities accelerating greenhouse gas emissions. However, human-induced emissions also stem from deforestation, where forests act as carbon sinks through photosynthesis but release carbon when cut down. Forests play a crucial role in mitigating climate change by storing carbon, and their restoration can enhance their carbon-absorbing capacity. This research, based on a literature review, examines the role of forests in providing ecosystem services for environmental resilience, utilizing sources from Google Scholar, Elsevier, and Science Direct. Forests and agroforestry systems contribute to food and nutritional security, providing various products like food, medicine, and materials for construction and fuel. However, forest fires and logging disrupt these contributions. Forests support livelihoods by offering diverse products and ecosystem services. Managing forest gaps, which influence biodiversity and nutrient cycles, is crucial for forest ecology.

Abstract

The concept of Smart City is a concept that has gone through the refinements of the ideas that have previously developed by patching existing shortcomings and considering aspects that may not yet exist in the concepts based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that have appeared before. The role of technology in the Smart City has two sides that must be noted, in addition to providing many great opportunities, it can also cause vulnerability if the technology is misused or applied in a dangerous or deviant manner and without adequate provisions. This type of research is research that uses the systematic review method (Systematic Review). The stages of literature collection refer to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. The results of this research show that digital technology can be applied to build a smarter city that responds to the needs of the community. Innovation and digital technology can change, replace, or complement existing standards in certain companies, ecosystems, and sectors. Digital transformation is the most important part of the Smart City concept because it can improve efficiency, quality of life, and various aspects of urban life. In addition, technology and digital play an important role in changing the urban landscape in digital transformation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase students' understanding of CAD program courses through the application of the case method learning model. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted to find solutions that can be done so that the potential of each teaching participant can be explored optimally. The subjects of this study were the fourth semester students of the Building Engineering Education Study Program, University of Nias, who at the time of this research were contracting 22 CAD courses. The method of measuring the level of success is carried out in three cycles. The method of data collection was carried out by observation, performance tests, quantitative and qualitative data collection, and data analysis techniques of learning implementation. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it was found that the most dominant activity of lecturers in providing lecture material using autocad media could increase student understanding by 0.47 points from cycle 1 to cycle 2 while the increase from cycle 2 to cycle 3 was 0.04 points. Activities in providing explanations to student questions using autocad media can increase student understanding by 0.25 points from cycle 1 to cycle 2 and increase student understanding by 0.27 points. The mastery of students' cognitive learning outcomes increased from cycles 1 to 3, with the percentage of mastery in cycle 1 being 31.82% and cycle 2 being 54.54%, and in cycle 3 being 90.9%. So it is concluded that the application of the case method learning model assisted by autocad media can improve students' understanding of the CAD program material.

Abstract

The completeness and feasibility of infrastructure in the world of education is something that must be considered and fulfilled. This has an impact on learning outcomes and students' abilities. This study aims to determine the feasibility of facilities and infrastructure in the light vehicle engineering electrical practice workshop at Padang 1 State Vocational Education School. This research uses descriptive analysis method. Research data obtained from interviews, documentation, and direct observation at school. The data on facilities and infrastructure that has been obtained is then compared with the standards of facilities and infrastructure listed in the Regulation of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Indonesia number 40 of 2008 and the National Education Standards Agency number 1049-P2 of 2010/2011. The results showed that the level of feasibility of the facilities and infrastructure for the electrical practice light vehicle engineering Padang 1 State Vocational Education School was 56.42% and 53.32% which were included in the feasible category. Existing electrical practice learning facilities and infrastructure can still be used and schools are expected to improve their quality.
