Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the relationship of workload, work stress, and social support for employee turnover intentions of PT. Bentoel Prima Malang. This study uses a population of all Primary Manufacturing Department (PMD) permanent employees of 83 employees. All members of the population are used as research samples (total sampling). Analysis tool to test the relationship between variables using the help of smartPLS 3.0. The results showed that workload did not significantly influence turnover intention. Job stress plays a mediating role between workload and work stress. Social support does not moderate work stress on turnover intention. The theoretical implications of this research provide opportunities for further research on workloads, not a major factor in employee decisions leaving the organization. Practical implications in this study provide new insights to companies and employees about the negative impact of increasing workload.

Abstract

Traffic safety is a critical concern on urban roads, including Jalan Mayjend Sungkono in Malang City, which experiences high accident rates. This study aims to analyze the influence of geometric road design and user behavior on traffic accidents from 2008 to 2020. Factors such as varying road widths, steep slopes, inadequate signage, and limited pedestrian facilities were identified as major contributors to traffic hazards. Additionally, risky driving behaviors and the dominance of motorcycles and private cars highlight safety challenges. The research employed a quantitative descriptive-analytical method. Primary data was collected through field surveys measuring geometric elements such as curve radius, superelevation, and grade. Secondary data on accident rates were sourced from police records. A polynomial regression analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between geometric factors and accident frequency. The coefficient of determination (R²) values for elements such as clear zones (57%), grade (50.04%), and superelevation (36%) indicated their significant impact on accident rates. Traffic patterns revealed peak hours during 6:00–9:00 AM and 4:00–7:00 PM, with weekend surges due to recreational activities. Results show that geometric improvements, particularly in clear zones and road grade, could substantially reduce accidents. Behavioral factors, such as speeding and abrupt stops by public transport, also exacerbate risks. Pedestrian safety remains a concern due to the lack of adequate crossings and sidewalks, especially near schools and markets. This study underscores the importance of integrated interventions involving road design enhancements and stricter traffic regulation enforcement to improve safety on Jalan Mayjend Sungkono.

Abstract

The intrinsic and extrinsic motivational variables that affect students' English language acquisition in the English Literature program at Universitas Kristen Cipta Wacana are examined in this study. The study employs a qualitative case study technique to analyze individual, academic, and social variables that influence students' participation in English education. Semi-structured interviews and focus group conversations with 10 carefully chosen subjects were used to gather data. Thematic analysis showed that students' intrinsic motivation is frequently derived from their love of literature, personal pleasure in learning English, and aspiration for self-improvement. In the meanwhile, external incentives are influenced by academic demands, parental expectations, and professional ambitions. The research sheds light on the two roles of motivation in language acquisition and makes pedagogical recommendations for encouraging long-term learner involvement.
