Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dan fungsi tindak tutur direktif dalam kumpulan cerpen Mereka Mengeja Larangan Mengemis Kompas tahun 2019. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini yakni tuturan yang diucapkan oleh tokoh dalam kumpulan cerpen. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik baca dan catat atau taking note method. Setelah pencatatan dilakukan, peneliti melakukan klasifikasi atau pengelompokkan. Data dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Peneliti menemukan enam bentuk tindak tutur direktif, yakni; (i) requestives (berfungsi untuk meminta, menekan, mendoa, dan mengajak); (ii) questions (berfungsi untuk bertanya dan menginterogasi); (iii) requirements (berfungsi untuk mengarahkan); (iv) prohibitves (berfungsi untuk melarang dan membatasi; (v) permissives (berfungsi untuk menyetujui,membolehkan, menganugerahi, dan memperkenankan); dan (vi) advisories (berfungsi untuk menasehati, memperingatkan, dan menyarankan).

Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the forms, causing factors, and the impacts of social conflicts in novel Bayang Suram Pelangi by Arafat Nur. Social conflict is one of the conflicts that occur due to social contact between humans. This research is descriptive qualitative study. In this study, the data was obtained by reading carefully and then note taking. The data are analyzed through the following steps; data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusion. The results of this study indicate that there are three forms of social conflict, they are (1) personal conflict, (2) conflict between social classes, and (3) political conflict. Based on the analysis, the researchers identified two factors that cause social conflicts; they are individual differences and the different interests. Further, the impacts caused by the social conflicts within the novel are; (1) the increasing of in-group solidarity, (2) personality changes, (3) the destruction of property and the loss of life.

Abstract

Literary works serve as a conduit for writers and readers to express their perspectives on variuous issues in human life through the medium of language. Language as a medium for literary works uses imagery as one of the elements of the creation of literary works. This study aimed at describing the use of imagery contained in Arafat Nur’s Novel, Diam-diam Saling Cinta, specifically in the aspects of form and function. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique used in this research is the reading and note-taking technique. The steps in data analysis are as follows; (1) data classification, (2) data reduction, (3) data interpretation based on thery, and (4) drawing conclusions. The result of this study found five types of imagery, namely; (1) visual imagery, (2) auditory imagery, (3) motion imagery, (4) tactile imagey,and (5) olfactory imagery. And there are four function of imagery in this novel, namely as a means of describing the characters, describing the setting, building the storyline, and depicting the theme in the novel.
