Abstract

People with disabilities see wheelchairs as a solution, wheelchairs are a facility for people who can't walk or people who can't walk far. The existence of physical limitations makes a person with disabilities need more attention, a person with disabilities is someone whose rights need to be fulfilled as well as all of us. However, sometimes it is still difficult to get equal access to education, opportunities, and public facilities. The disabled, especially the physically disabled, are very likely to carry out outdoor activities independently, but must be accommodated so that they require various kinds of assistance from wheelchairs, in this case existing products or pedestrians. Mobility becomes an obstacle for them when they want to do activities outside. The design method uses Design Thinking because there is empathy which is the main foundation of this research and the research approach undertaken is descriptive qualitative, namely research conducted by processing data from interviews and observations in the form of data and analysis. Of all these problems, this research focuses on designing a product that can maximize the function of wheelchairs in activities and events even when they have to leave the house for the disabled. Keywords: disabilities, wheelchair, mobility, design, lever. AbstrakPenyandang difabel tunadaksa melihat kursi roda sebagai solusi, kursi roda merupakan suatu fasilitas bagi orang yang tidak bisa berjalan atau orang yang tidak bisa bisa berjalan jauh. Abstract

Urbanization is considered to be an ingrained social phenomenon in various large Indonesian cities, characterized by rapid urban population growth and drastic changes in social, economic and environmental structures. Urbanization in Indonesia shows a rapid increasing trend over the last few decades. Medan City, as one of the main urban centers in North Sumatra, has not escaped the impact of significant urbanization. Along with rapid economic and demographic growth, the city has experienced a major transformation in various aspects of city life. This research aims to identify the history of urbanization in Medan City from a social perspective. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method through literature study sourced from journals, scientific articles, books and other relevant sources. The results of this research show that urbanization in Medan City has been going on for a long time. Strategically located on the east coast of Sumatra and between the confluence of the Deli River and the Babura River, Medan has vital trade access to the Malacca Strait. Especially in the period 2012 to 2022, the increase in population in Medan City occurred in almost all sub-districts. Of the 21 sub-districts, 17 sub-districts experienced an increase in population of more than 10%. Only one sub-district experienced a decline in population, namely Medan Baru Sub-district by 7.89%. The high level of urbanization in the city of Medan is generally caused by several factors, such as strategic location, the presence of natural resources (SDA), and supporting natural conditions. Meanwhile, the impact on society's social life includes rapid population growth, changes in societal structure, and social and cultural dynamics. Keywords: History, Urbanization, Social, Medan City

Abstract

In interacting socially, without realizing it, humans give an image to each other or to objects, due to the presence of objective (Visual) in this case the eye sees the object in the form of an appearance (Body), and the process is called an image because it gives perception, then gives different meanings according to their knowledge, the purpose of this research is to find out the design strategy for Indomie packaging, Indomie packaging also represents the meaning of the image of a product, this method uses a semiotic analysis method, namely an approach that tries to find the hidden meaning behind a sign, be it an image or text, so that in this writing, we get the results of Design as an image, in this case a product has its own concept or view/specialties that you want to show to other people, by making a design in the form of an advertisement, product or writing, then the design builds or represents the features that you want to display (image) so that people tend to like or enter the space of perfection built by the design, in fact they prioritize the image over its own function. The results of research on Indomie packaging are a series of illusions that are injected into a commodity, in order to control consumers, this eye illusion makes the packaging look like an anesthetic injection, so that consumers feel influenced by buying a noodle product, because the packaging displayed depicts an illusion that makes buyers feel When you buy this product, you will get what it looks like on the packaging, even though in reality it isn't.

Abstract

Toyota Gazoo Racing is one of Toyota’s racing divisions that has made a significant contribution to the development of automotive technology. This initiative originated from the vision of Toyota’s founder, Kiichiro Toyoda, who believed that car racing is not merely a form of entertainment but an essential means to test vehicle performance under extreme conditions while simultaneously discovering new innovations to deliver the best products for consumers. Based on this perspective, the present study aims to analyze the application of cinematographic elements in Toyota Gazoo Racing advertisements and their impact on brand visual communication strategies. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observations of cinematographic elements in Toyota Gazoo Racing advertisements, which were then mapped and validated with relevant literature on cinematography in advertising. The findings indicate that cinematography plays a crucial role in constructing visual narratives that strengthen Toyota’s brand image in terms of performance, endurance, and innovation. These results are expected to serve as a reference for designing cinematographic strategies in future automotive advertising campaigns.

Abstract

Bamboo has long been used in various aspects of design and architecture due to its flexibility, strength, and eco-friendly nature. As a readily available natural material with high aesthetic value, bamboo has great potential for various applications, including as an acoustic material. One type of bamboo that possesses ideal characteristics for this purpose is betung bamboo, which has a large-diameter stem and fibers capable of effectively absorbing sound. This study aims to explore the utilization of betung bamboo as an acoustic material in creative workspaces, particularly for professionals in visual communication design and multimedia. The method used is a mixed-method approach, incorporating qualitative analysis of the aesthetics and texture of bamboo along with quantitative testing of the effectiveness of bamboo panels in reducing noise. The results indicate that betung bamboo panels can absorb up to 97% of sound at specific frequencies, making them an ideal solution for multimedia production studios and graphic design spaces. Additionally, the visual elements of these panels enhance the interior aesthetics of workspaces, support visual identity, and improve user comfort. With these advantages, betung bamboo not only provides functional benefits as an acoustic material but also serves as a design element that seamlessly integrates with the modern workspace concept, combining aesthetics with efficiency.

Abstract

The shift in children's play patterns due to the advancement of digital technology has caused traditional games such as kaulinan barudak to become increasingly marginalized. One of the games that is beginning to fade is bebedilan karet, a rubber-based shooting game that holds both cultural and educational value. This study aims to redesign bebedilan karet so that it can function as an educational medium as well as a means of preserving Sundanese culture. The design approach used is design thinking with the double diamond model, which consists of the stages of emphatize, define, ideate, prototyping, and testing. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and literature studies, then synthesized into a focused design direction. The development process was carried out using the SCAMPER method, supported by the creation of 3D models and physical prototypes based on a modular system. Field testing showed that the product is visually appealing, educational, and capable of enhancing cultural interaction in educational tourism environments. A focus group discussion (FGD) with tourism managers also supported the product's implementation as a permanent educational installation. Thus, this design not only revitalizes traditional games but also offers a design approach that is relevant, adaptive, and meaningful for today’s generation.
