Abstract

ABSTRAKKota Pekalongan terletak di pantai utara Jawa Tengah dimana wilayah pesisir utara ini terdapat potensi yang dapat dikembangkan menjadi aset yang berharga bagi bangsa yaitu para pembuat kapal tradisional. Dalam pelaksanaannya, baik tipe ataupun bentuk kapal yang dibangun, berdasarkan pengalaman kapal-kapal yang pernah dibuat sebelumnya, tanpa melalui perhitungan dan penggambaran terlebih dahulu, sehingga dalam beberapa kasus terhadap pesanan kapal yang berbeda bentuknya, maka pengrajin ini akan mengalami kesulitan. Minimnya pengetahuan tentang gambar teknik juga menyebabkan para pengrajin kapal tradisional tidak dapat menggambar lambung kapal mereka. Hal ini menyebabkan perlunya sosialisasi mengenai teknologi perkapalan kepada pengrajin kapal di Kota Pekalongan terutama dibidang rancang bangun (design) dan konstruksi kapal agar terdapat standar baku mengenai konstruksi kapal kayu yang sesuai dengan standar yang ada seperti Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI). Pelatihan dilakukan dengan metode presentasi, demonstrasi, serta praktik langsung. Untuk mengukur pencapaian maka dilakukan pretest dan posttest yang dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta pelatihan desain kapal. Sebelum dilakukan pelatihan, rata-rata pengetahuan peserta sebesar 26% dalam memahami desain kapal dan 33% dalam memahami analisa tahanan kapal, kemudian mengalami peningkatan menjadi rata-rata sebesar 76% untuk pemahaman desain kapal dan 77% untuk analisa tahanan kapal setelah diberi pelatihan. Kata kunci: desain; pengrajin; kapal kayu; karakteristik kapal ABSTRACTThe city of Pekalongan is located on the north coast of Central Java where there is potential for this northern coastal region to be developed into a valuable asset for the nation, namely traditional shipbuilders. In practice, both the type and shape of the ship built, based on the experience of ships that have been made before, without going through calculations and drawings beforehand, so that in some cases orders for ships with different shapes, these craftsmen will experience difficulties. The lack of knowledge about technical drawings also causes traditional shipbuilders to be unable to draw their hulls. This causes the need for socialization regarding shipping technology to ship craftsmen in Pekalongan City, especially in the field of ship design and construction so that there are standard standards regarding wooden ship construction in accordance with existing standards such as the Indonesian Classification Bureau (BKI). The training is carried out using presentation methods, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. To measure achievement, a questionnaire was filled out before and after the training. The results of the questionnaire showed an increase in the knowledge of ship design training participants. Before the training, the average knowledge of the participants was 26% in understanding ship design and 33% in understanding ship resistance analysis, then increased to an average of 76% for understanding ship design and 77% for ship resistance analysis after being given training. Keywords: design; craftsmen; wooden ships; ship characteristics

Abstract

Ginger extract powder is a popular product in the beverage and health industry, requiring careful processing to produce high-quality results. This study aims to determine the efficiency of the stirring blade design on the ginger extract powder stirring machine. The intensive stirring process can lead to faster wear of the blades, making the selection of suitable materials crucial. The research was conducted through direct observation at UKM Bekti Pertiwi. The data collection process was structured to capture both quantitative data: 1) Energy consumption: energy used by the machine was measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh) using a standardized electricity meter, and 2) Cycle time: the time for a full cycle was recorded, from material input to the completion of the stirring process. A controlled sample of 2 kg of ginger essence was used in each test to standardize conditions and ensure consistent results. The sample size was chosen based on typical batch sizes processed by SMEs, aiming to represent common production volumes. The ginger essence sample was prepared with a standardized consistency and viscosity to reduce variability and ensure repeatability across tests. The stirring blade samples were manufactured from stainless steel with a Teflon coating, selected due to its corrosion resistance and durability in acidic environments. Blade dimensions were set to 504 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thickness, based on initial design research suggesting these dimensions as optimal for the desired mixing efficiency and wear resistance. Each test was conducted under the same operational settings, including motor speed and cycle duration, to maintain uniformity in testing conditions. Results indicate that a combination of stainless steel and Teflon in the stirring blades provides optimal performance, with energy consumption reaching 0.1072 kWh for 2 kg of ginger extract. The electricity cost for one production cycle is IDR 144.93. These findings can be used for future production planning, as well as to improve operational efficiency and the quality of ginger extract products.

Abstract

The peer teaching learning model provides an opportunity for students to give each other knowledge to their peers. Peer teaching is a student-centred learning method. The purposes of this study are (1) to learn about the competence of students’ lathe practice after applying the learning model of peer teaching and (2) to know about the improvement of the competency of students’ lathe practice after applying the peer-teaching learning model. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental. The sample used in this research was 41 students of the Practical Class from the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program. The data analysis used is normality test, homogeneity test, t-test, and N-Gain test. The results of the research show that (1) the competence of lathe practice of the students who apply a peer teaching learning model is in moderate categorized and (2) the application of a peer learning model is effective to improve the lathe practical competence of the students.

Abstract

Abstrak Tingginya jumlah penjualan kendaraan bermotor di Indonesia yang mencapai 94.067 unit pada tahun 2023 dapat menyebabkan berbagai permasalahan seperti kemacetan dan kecelakaan. Selain menimbulkan korban jiwa kecelakaan lalu lintas juga menyebabkan kerugian materi berupa kerusakan pada kendaraan seperti goresan atau penyok pada panel bodi mobil. Kerusakan tersebut dapat diperbaiki melalui proses pengecatan ulang untuk mengembalikan ke kondisi semula. Kualitas hasil pengecatan yang baik dapat dilihat dari nilai lekat dan nilai kilapnya. Nilai kilap menandakan kualitas hasil pengecatan yang dapat meningkatkan estetika dari sebuah kendaraan. Bengkel Yunex Paint yang beralamat di Desa Gesing Temanggung dipilih menjadi mitra pengabdian karena bergerak di perbaikan bodi dan pengecatan yang setiap minggunya mampu mengerjakan 2 unit mobil dengan total waktu pengerjaan 4-6 hari untuk pengecatan ulang panel bumper maupun kap mesin. Bengkel ini masih banyak menghadapi berbagai permasalahan pada  proses produksi seperti hasil pengecatan yang kurang mengkilap karena finishing masih dilakukan secara manual sehingga jumlah mobil yang dikerjakan tidak mengalami peningkatan menyebabkan perkembangan usahanya kurang signifikan. Mengatasi permasalahan tersebut maka diusulkan penerapan mesin rotary polisher yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efisiensi waktu dan kualitas hasil pengecatan, sehingga meningkatkan daya saing dan produktivitas Bengkel Yunex Paint. Pengabdian ini melibatkan 11 orang termasuk dengan pekerja bengkel. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi ceramah, demonstrasi, praktik langsung serta pendampingan, dan pengambilan data. Data hasil ukur daya kilap yang didapatkan yaitu 24,7 sebelum finishing, 85,3 sesudah finishing manual dan 94,1 sesudah finishing menggunakan mesin rotary polisher. Dari data yang didapatkan mesin rotary polisher dapat menambah nilai kilap hasil finishing pengecatan. Kata kunci: kualitas pengecatan; nilai kilap; mesin rotary polisher. Abstract The high number of motor vehicle sales in Indonesia, which reached 94,067 units in 2023, can cause various problems such as congestion and accidents. In addition to causing casualties, traffic accidents also cause material losses in the form of damage to vehicles such as scratches or dents on car body panels. The damage can be repaired through the repainting process to restore it to its original condition. The quality of good painting results can be seen from the adhesion value and gloss value. The gloss value indicates the quality of the painting results that can improve the aesthetics of a vehicle. The Yunex Paint workshop located in Gesing Village, Temanggung, was chosen as a service partner because it is engaged in body repair and painting which every week is able to work on 2 units of cars with a total processing time of 4-6 days for repainting bumper panels and hoods. This workshop still faces many problems in the production process such as painting results that are less shiny because finishing is still done manually so that the number of cars being worked on has not increased causing insignificant business development. Overcoming these problems, the application of a rotary polisher machine is proposed which is expected to increase the efficiency of time and quality of painting results, thereby increasing the competitiveness and productivity of the Yunex Paint Workshop. This service involved 11 people including workshop workers. The implementation method includes lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice and mentoring, and data collection. The gloss measurement data obtained were 24.7 before finishing, 85.3 after manual finishing and 94.1 after finishing using a rotary polisher machine. From the data obtained, the rotary polisher machine can increase the gloss value of the painting finishing results. Keywords: painting quality; gloss value; rotary polisher machine.
