Abstract

This study introduces MyOnTime, an innovative application designed to revolutionize student attendance management at Sekolah Indonesia Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) in response to the evolving educational landscape in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary objective of this research was to develop an efficient and user-friendly solution that enhances attendance recording, promotes administrative efficiency, and aligns with current health and environmental guidelines. To achieve this goal, we employed the Extreme Programming (XP) and harnessed the AppSheet platform, a low-code application development tool. MyOnTime offers a streamlined approach to attendance recording through barcode scanning, minimizing manual data entry and reducing reliance on paper-based methods. We conducted a comprehensive user survey to evaluate the application's functionality, responsiveness, and reliability. The results indicate overwhelmingly positive user feedback, highlighting MyOnTime's effectiveness and its ability to meet the specific needs of students, teachers, and administrative staff. MyOnTime empowers educational institutions by providing real-time attendance data, comprehensive reporting capabilities, and a user-friendly interface. It supports sustainable practices by reducing paper waste and contributes to a more organized and disciplined learning environment. MyOnTime represents a promising tool for enhancing the educational experience in the post-pandemic era, promoting efficiency, convenience, and environmental friendliness in attendance management.

Abstract

The utilization of information technology in the field of education, particularly Google Earth, has become a significant breakthrough. This article examines the potential of Google Earth as a map learning tool at SDN Sidomulyo 02. The research focuses on students and teachers from grades 4-6, employing a qualitative approach with a case study. The research results indicate an improvement in student engagement, a better understanding of map concepts, and increased learning motivation. Google Earth provides a dynamic, visual, and interactive experience, allowing students to explore the world virtually. This advantage is evident in the identification of map symbols, understanding legends, and interpreting geographical information. A comparison with conventional methods emphasizes the superiority of Google Earth in the context of map learning, supporting a contextual learning approach. Despite the positive outcomes, challenges in implementation involve a learning curve for teachers. Therefore, advanced training and technical support are key to the effectiveness of Google Earth usage. This article contributes to a deeper understanding of the positive impact of Google Earth on students' geospatial literacy. Its implications include recommendations for teachers and policymakers to integrate learning technologies, especially Google Earth, into elementary education curricula. As a significant contribution, this research paves the way for the broader use of similar technologies in elementary education and serves as a foundation for further research in the development of learning methods that integrate technology.

Abstract

The research focuses on the development and implementation of the EcoViber application to address plastic waste management in school environments, specifically at SDN Perdopo 02. The study aims to tackle the issue of plastic waste accumulation through technological solutions, enhancing environmental awareness and operational efficiency. The application employs the waterfall method for development and features data collection, visualization, and educational tools to promote transparency and accountability. Comprehensive observations and interviews with seven teachers revealed significant improvements in waste management, with approximately 54.95 kg of plastic waste collected from January to April 2024. The findings highlight the practical implications of EcoViber in fostering a culture of environmental stewardship among school stakeholders. Despite its success, the study acknowledges potential biases in data reporting and the limited generalizability of results due to the focus on a single school. Future research should explore diverse settings and refine methodologies to enhance the scalability and long-term impact of EcoViber. Overall, the study demonstrates EcoViber's value as an innovative and effective solution for sustainable plastic waste management in educational settings.

Abstract

Students' literacy skills in Indonesia remain a critical concern in education. The lack of reading interest, particularly among elementary school students, necessitates the integration of technology as an innovative solution in learning. This study aims to explore the impact of Chromebook and Let's Read application on students' reading interest through picture stories. A qualitative approach using a case study method was employed, involving 30 students from two elementary schools as research subjects. The results indicated a positive trend in students' engagement and enthusiasm, along with significant improvements in concentration and focus during learning activities. Teacher reports confirmed that the use of Chromebook and Let's Read significantly enhanced students' motivation to read and explore picture stories. However, the study also identified challenges such as technical issues and curriculum adjustments. Despite these obstacles, the integration of technology in education demonstrated promising outcomes in increasing students' reading interest and literacy skills. This research concludes that the use of Chromebook and Let's Read application can create a more engaging and effective learning environment, fostering active student participation in reading activities. The findings emphasize the importance of leveraging technology in elementary education to cultivate sustainable reading habits and improve literacy outcomes.
