Abstract

The problem that most often arises in development is unemployment. Development will be hampered if unemployment increases because it triggers the emergence of new problems in the economic and social fields. According to Sukirno (2006), unemployment is a situation where a person included in the labor force wants to get a job but has not got it yet. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP), Total Population, Human Development Index (IPM), and the Covid-19 Pandemic on the unemployment rate in the Province of Bali. The data used is secondary data, namely unemployment data, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP), Population Projection, Human Development Index (IPM), and the Covid-19 Pandemic as a dummy variable. This research was conducted in 8 regencies and 1 city in Bali Province from 2017-2021. This study was tested using panel data regression analysis techniques with the selected estimation model, namely the common effect model using Eviews software. The results of the research conducted show that the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) has a negative and significant effect on unemployment, total population has no significant effect on unemployment, the Human Development Index (IPM) and the Covid-19 Pandemic have a positive and significant effect on unemployment in the Province of Bali. keyword: Unemployment, GRDP, Total Population, HDI, and the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Abstract

The elderly population in developing countries in their youth generally had jobs in the informal sector, so that at the time their parents were still working diligently to be able to meet their daily needs. This research aims to carry out analyzes related to the influence of education level, health complaints, use of free time, family income and number of dependents simultaneously and partially, and is used to determine the variables that have a dominant influence. The population in this study was elderly people aged 60 years and over with data of 20,019 people by applying the Slovin Formula, resulting in 123 respondents. In carrying out the process of determining the number of samples, the non probability sampling method was used with Accidental Sampling and Snowball Sampling. In the data collection process, observation methods, structured interviews and in-depth interviews were used. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the research successfully show that (1) level of education, health complaints, use of free time, family income, and also the number of dependents produce a significant influence in a simultaneous direction on the work participation of elderly people, (2) level of education, health complaints, family income with a partial direction producing a negative and significant influence, (3) the number of dependents with a partial direction producing a positive and significant influence, (4) using free time produces a significant influence. Thus, the large number of dependents is the most dominant variable that has an influence on the work participation of the elderly in Mengwi District, Badung Regency.

Abstract

The culinary industry in Denpasar City, as part of the creative economy, holds significant potential to boost income in line with the growth of tourism and MSMEs. However, challenges such as intense competition and shifting consumer preferences require businesses to adopt adaptive strategies. This study examines the influence of five factors pricing, business innovation, human resource development, partnerships, and promotion on the income of the culinary sector, while also analysing the moderating role of promotion in the relationship between business innovation and income. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods with a Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) design. Data were gathered from 122 culinary MSMEs through questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The findings indicate that, collectively, the five variables have a significant impact on income; however, only business innovation and promotion show a significant individual effect. Moreover, promotion strengthens the positive relationship between innovation and income. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to focus on innovating products rooted in local culinary heritage and to utilise digital promotion to expand their market. Government support is expected in the form of training, funding, and culinary tourism promotion. Future research is recommended to explore the influence of digital technology and evolving consumer behaviour within the culinary industry.
