Abstract

Many studies confirm the importance of the role of women in the effectiveness of government programs, especially the programs aimed at improving family welfare. This study aims to examine the effect of the government program of direct cash transfers (BLT) on the human capital of children in households headed by women in Indonesia. Data for the study was obtained from IFLS (wave 5) and analyzed with multiple linear regression. The analysis results show that there is a negative effect of BLT on the education of children. Previous studies state this is due to the changing behavior of the recipient households or the spillover effects on the non-recipient households. This research proposes a different reason, such as social discrimination against households headed by women. The solid patriarchal culture in Indonesia often ignores female-headed households, so the number of households receiving social protection programs is relatively very limited. How to Cite:Setyari, N. Abstract

Bali Province has had sufficient economic growth in recent years. Decentralization that is emphasized in each region demands for each region to be independent in managing its economy. Relatively good economic growth is expected to have an effect on the Human Development Index in the area. This study aims to analyze the long-term relationship between economic growth and the Bali Province HDI. The data used are panel data on economic growth and district / city level HDI in Bali Province for the period 2004-2017. The analysis used first, Klassen Typology, secondly cointegration ,. With the stage of using the Unit Roots Test to test the stationarity of the variable. The results of the Klassen Typology show that Badung Regency, Denpasar City, and Gianyar Regency fall into the fast-growing and fast-growing regional category, Buleleng Regency falls into the fast-developing area category, Jembrana Regency and Tabanan Regency fall into the category of potential but depressed regions. Bangli Regency, Karangasem Regency, and Klungkung Regency fall into the relatively backward regional category. The results of the cointegration method show a long-term balance (cointegration) relationship between economic growth and HDI in Bali Province.

Abstract

This study is aimed to look at the effect of credit sourced from the banking sector on the MSE’s income in each Regency/City of the Bali Province. This is important because the inclusive development index in Bali Province tends to increase, but the standard deviation for each Regency/City shows an increase until 2017. This condition indicates that development is still relatively unequal between Regencies/ City. By using the data from the Economic Survey 2016 from BPS and processed using the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method, the results confirm that credit recipients have significantly higher incomes than those who do not receive. Theoretically, additional capital accumulation will encourage faster economic growth in relatively poor areas compared to richer areas, causing convergence in the two regions. The results of the analysis show that MSE actors in districts with lower growth get higher additional income, thus enabling equitable development in Bali.

Abstract

This study aims, firstly, to find out the category of district/city areas in the SARBAGITA area with Klassen typology. Second, knowing the level of economic inequality in urban districts in the SARBAGITA area with the Williamson index. Third, knowing the relationship between growth and economic inequality in the SARBAGITA region by testing the Kuznets hypothesis. The analysis was carried out using secondary data with the results, first, that in the SARBAGITA area there are still districts as relatively underdeveloped areas which indicate that the spread effect of the regional center development is not yet optimal. Second, the absolute level of economic inequality shows fluctuations, but if viewed based on trends, it shows a positive trend. This means that the longer the period, the higher the level of inequality. The final result is the proof of Kuznets hypothesis in the SARBAGITA area. At the beginning of the study period, economic growth was followed by an increase in inequality but at a certain point, the inequality decreased. Thus, we need a regional planning that can create a balance of economic growth so that inequality between regions can be minimized or even avoided.

Abstract

This study examines how social capital affects the well-being of individuals in Indonesia. Happiness determinants use several aspects of social capital at the same time: trust, information channels, civic participation, especially political participation. In addition, this estimation also takes into account other socio-demographic factors. The researchers found that trust, information channels, and political participation have a significant impact on the well-being of Indonesian. Individual trust and sociable gatherings to leave a child to a close-neighbor within a few hours have a positive effect on the individual’s well-being. By using IFLS data, a logistic model is used to test whether some indicators of social capital affect individual’s well-being. A positive correlation between social capital and happiness may suggest that public policies toward increasing social capital both at the individual and aggregate level may have complementary effects on raising individual’s well-being. It is important to support the government`s efforts in improving the community’s happiness which in turn can encourage development policies` effectiveness.

Abstract

The Village Credit Institution (LPD) is a traditional-based financial institution that has proven to be an important element in the economy of rural communities in Bali. During the last two decades, LPDs in various traditional villages have shown good development, but in some traditional villages there are still many LPDs that have not developed as expected, one of which is characterized by an unhealthy status or high NPL. One of them is the Tegallinggah Traditional Village LPD which is located in Bedulu Village, Blahbatuh District, Gianyar Regency. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide training and assistance in credit analysis for the Tegallinggah Traditional Village LPD. The method used is through lectures, discussions, training, and mentoring. The result of this activity is the increasing understanding of the Tegallinggah Traditional Village LPD managers regarding credit analysis. In addition, the Tegallinggah LPD manager has also been able to carry out credit analysis more carefully and in accordance with applicable standards. This community service activity has been carried out to provide education and training on credit analysis so that it is expected to reduce the NPL of the Tegallinggah Traditional Village LPD. After the implementation of activities related to efforts to reduce NPL, it is necessary to carry out activities to improve LPD performance. These activities include the dissemination of various services that can be provided by LPD, including education on the use of benefits, so that the benefits can be felt on the local community's economy.

Abstract

The problem of unemployment (including rural unemployment) is one of the macroeconomic problems that hinders regional development because it will cause other social problems. The more limited employment opportunities, especially in rural areas, the higher the unemployment rate and urbanization among rural communities. The Provincial Government of Bali has provided services to UPTD BLK-IP. Previous research mentioned the need for disseminating employment information as an effort to accelerate the handling of rural unemployment. The purpose of this community service is to bring employment programs closer, both training programs and workforce distribution carried out by the UPTD BLK-IP of Bali Province. This service activity was carried out in Selat Village, Klungkung Regency, Bali Province, which was still experiencing rural workforce problems. The method of implementing the activity is through verbal socialization and socialization through leaflet media. Pre-test and post-test were also carried out as well as monitoring and evaluation after socialization. Verbal socialization was carried out by providing information on the main functions and services of the UPTD BLK-IP of Bali Province, training targets and policies (triple skilling), and vocational training. After delivering the material, a discussion was held, as well as pre-test and post-test as a form of evaluating the achievement of verbal socialization goals. The results of the post-test showed an increase in the information understanding of the participants in the socialization as well as their interest and willingness to disseminate the information obtained. Further socialization was carried out by means of leaflets that presented employment information in a concise, concise, attractive and accessible manner. Leaflets are distributed and also placed in public places or facilities that are easily accessible by the public. This activity has been able to provide information to the Selat Village community regarding employment programs, especially the UPTD BLK-IP of Bali Province training program.
