Abstract

The purpose of this study is to delve into the changing role of elementary school teachers as counselors, examining attitudes, practices, and barriers to providing emotional and mental health support. This study, conducted at Medalsari Elementary School in the Karawang Regency, West Java, also emphasizes the need for teachers’ involvement in cultivating and sustaining students’ social-emotional health, particularly in rural areas where mental health professionals are scarce. The qualitative methodology of the study employs surveys and open-ended questions, which enable the exploration of teachers' understanding of counselling, the practices they utilise, and the barriers they face. Teachers know they have two jobs and one is critical, being a counselor as well as an educator, but it’s hard to do both because there isn’t enough time, training, or resources. Despite these challenges, teachers implement techniques  such as speaking directly to students, practicing mindfulness, and approaching parents. The study highlights the need for enhanced professional development and organisational support to adequately integrate counselling into teachers' roles. Keywords: elementary school teachers, counseling, social-emotional support, rural education, teacher training

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Public–Private Partnerships (PPPs) and digital transformation on the performance of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia’s creative economy sector. Using a quantitative approach with Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), data were collected from 120 MSMEs actors participating in collaborative programs between local governments and digital start-ups. The findings reveal that PPPs and digital transformation significantly strengthen the digital capabilities of MSMEs, which subsequently enhance their business performance. Moreover, digital capability functions as a mediating variable that links PPP initiatives and digital transformation efforts to improved MSME outcomes. The results emphasize the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration among government institutions, private enterprises, and digital innovators in fostering a resilient and competitive creative economy ecosystem. Accordingly, local governments are advised to develop non-infrastructure PPP models that prioritize digital innovation, capacity building, and literacy enhancement for MSME actors.

Abstract

The exchange rate is the amount of domestic currency that must be paid to acquire one unit of foreign currency. This refers to recent changes in exchange rates. Changes in exchange rates are influenced by many factors, such as inflation and interest rates, which are related to changes in a country's currency exchange rate. This study analyzes the effect of inflation and interest rates on the exchange rates of ASEAN regional countries. Data was collected from the period before and after the peak of the pandemic, from 2019 to 2024, to observe the short- to medium-term impacts. The results show that inflation is negatively related to exchange rates, with increased domestic inflation causing currency depreciation. Meanwhile, interest rates exhibit varying effects depending on each country's monetary policy. This study concludes that, in the context of economic mapping in ASEAN regional countries over the past five years, policies focused on managing and controlling inflation are more effective in maintaining exchange rate stability than interest rate adjustments.

Abstract

The Trusmi small-scale batik industry is one of Indonesia’s prominent cultural heritage clusters, yet it faces challenges related to limited customer reach, intense competition from mass-produced batik, and inadequate financial management. This study aims to redesign its business model to strengthen competitiveness while preserving cultural authenticity. The Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework was employed to identify existing weaknesses and formulate strategic improvements. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 batik artisans, direct observations of production and marketing activities, and benchmarking against successful batik enterprises. The analysis comprised three stages: problem identification, solution formulation, and BMC redesign. The findings identified critical weaknesses in customer segmentation, sales channels, customer relationships, resource management, and cost structure. To address these issues, the study proposes expanding customer segments through digital marketing, developing innovative and environmentally friendly designs, strengthening partnerships with government institutions and tourism stakeholders, implementing cooperative-based procurement systems, and improving financial management practices. The redesigned BMC integrates diversified revenue streams, hybrid production techniques, and customer loyalty programs to enhance business sustainability and market responsiveness. The proposed business model is expected to improve market penetration, operational efficiency, financial performance, and customer loyalty while maintaining the cultural and artistic heritage of Trusmi batik. This study contributes to the literature on creative industries and small and medium-sized enterprise development by presenting a practical, culturally grounded framework for business model innovation. The framework may also serve as a reference for other traditional craft industries seeking to balance cultural preservation, digital transformation, and sustainable economic growth in increasingly competitive markets
