Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of liquid organic fertilizer obtained from vegetable waste on Chlorella sp. The study was conducted for 20 days at the Microalgae and Fish Nutrition Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Pekanbaru. The study design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, consisting of P1 = spinach, P2 = cabbage, P3 = katuk vegetables (Sauropus androgynous) and P = mustard greens. Liquid organic fertilizer at a dose of 2 cc/l was used in each treatment. The results showed that the best abundance of Chlorella sp cells in the treatment using mustard greens was 11,183,333 cells/ml, and the peak was on day 14, while the lowest cell abundance using vegetable waste was 6,166,667 cells/ml. The highest amount of biomass was in P4 (mustard green waste) 0.41 g/L and the lowest was in P3 (mustard green waste) 0.16 g/L.

Abstract

Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) has a high amount of nutrients that can be used as a nutrient source for the growth of Chlorella sp. This research aimed to determine the effect of Liquid Organic Fertilizer on the growth and abundance of Chlorella sp. cells and to obtain the optimal dosage of Liquid Organic Fertilizer for the growth of Chlorella sp. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Microalgae and Fish Nutrition, Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments, specifically giving POC doses of 2.5cc, 5cc, 7.5cc, and 10cc/l of water with three repetitions. The measured changer is growth and abundance, biomass, and parameters of the culture media such as temperature, pH, nitrate, and phosphate. The research results obtained the highest abundance of Chlorella sp. cells. amounted to 7,966,667 cells/ml at the POC dose of 5 cc/l of water, and the peak was on the 16th day, the lowest dose of 2.5 cc/l was 6,483,333 cells/ml, cell-specific growth rate Chlorella sp. during the study ranged from 0.074-0.087/hr. The highest amount of biomass was 0.3629 gr/l, parameters of the culture media such as temperature ranged from 26-30oC, pH of 6-8, nitrate 1.976-4.802 mg/l and phosphate 0.360-2.680 mg/l.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different salinities on the growth and survival of baung fish (Hemibagrus nemurus) fry. The method used is an experimental method with a complete random design (RAL) consisting of 5 treatments with 3 repeats, namely P1 = salinity of 3 ppt, P2 = 4 ppt, P3 = 5 ppt, P4 = 6 ppt, and P5 = 7 ppt. The results showed the best treatment in P4 treatment of baung fry rearing with a salinity of 6 ppt, resulting in absolute weight growth of 0.73±0.04 gr, absolute length of 1.88±0.19 cm, daily growth rate of 3.50±0.19%, feed conversion of 1.69±0.08, and survival of 98±3.46%. The range of water quality during maintenance was supportive for baung fry, with temperatures ranging from 25–28 0C, pH 6.2–6.78, dissolved oxygen content 6.0–7.7 mg/L, and ammonia ranged from 0.59–1.88 mg/L.

Abstract

Chlorella sp. is a type of phytoplankton that shows promise as a feed source for Moina sp. due to its appropriate size, comprehensive nutritional profile, and ease of cultivation. The goal of this research is to evaluate the impact of various densities of Chlorella sp. on the population growth of Moina sp. This study employed an experimental approach using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replicates. The treatments consisted of P1 = Chlorella at a density of 75 × 10^4 cells/mL, P2 = 100 × 10^4 cells/mL, P3 = 125 × 10^4 cells/mL, and P4 = 150 × 10^4 cells/mL. The parameters monitored included population growth, growth rate, and water quality factors such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), and ammonia (NH3) levels. The findings indicated that the highest population of Moina sp. occurred with the application of Chlorella sp. at a density of 150 × 10^4 cells/mL, reaching 8,258 individuals per liter on the 14th day. In contrast, the lowest population was associated with the density of 75 × 10^4 cells/mL, which resulted in 1,958 individuals per liter on the 12th day. The results suggest that varying the densities of Chlorella sp. had a highly significant effect (p < 0.05) on the population growth of Moina sp
