Abstract

This study examines the social construction of stigma toward students with disabilities in the Faculty of Education at Universitas Negeri Makassar through Erving Goffman's theoretical perspective. The research aims to understand how stigma is constructed and manifested in the academic environment, particularly focusing on students' attitudes and perceptions. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 40 students from various semesters (2nd to 9th) in the Faculty of Education. The questionnaire consisted of 33 items measuring different dimensions of stigma, including character stigma, courtesy stigma, and impression management strategies. Results indicate varying levels of stigma manifestation among students, with notable patterns in academic perception, social interaction, and disclosure attitudes. The findings reveal that while students generally show positive attitudes toward inclusion, subtle forms of stigma persist in social interactions and academic expectations. This study contributes to understanding disability stigma in higher education contexts and provides insights for developing more inclusive educational environments. The research implications suggest the need for comprehensive disability awareness programs and institutional policy reforms to address stigma-related barriers in academic settings.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of augmented reality media in improving the understanding of science concepts, especially the digestive system material, in deaf students of grade VIII at SLB-B YPPLB Makassar. The background of this study is the instability of students' understanding who have difficulty absorbing abstract material without the help of adequate visual media. Using a quantitative approach with the Single Subject Research (SSR) method with an A-B-A design, this study focuses on one subject with the initials Y through three stages: baseline 1 (A1), intervention (B), and baseline 2 (A2). Data were collected through observation, tests, and interviews, then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study showed a significant increase in each phase. In the baseline 1 (A1) condition, the subject's score was at 30 with a stable trend. After being given intervention using augmented reality media (B), the score increased to the range of 40 to 70. This increase continued in the baseline 2 (A2) phase with a score of 80 to 90 and a high level of stability. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the application of augmented reality media has a positive and effective effect in improving the understanding of science concepts for deaf students at SLB-B YPPLB Makassar.

Abstract

AbThis study explores the implementation of a gamification-based digital literacy curriculum for students with special needs at SDN Unggulan Mongisidi 1 Makassar. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and FGD with the principal, special assistant teachers, classroom teachers, students, and parents. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and SaldaƱa model. The findings reveal three main results: (1) implementation follows five stages: planning, socialization, phased application of gamification elements (points, badges, leaderboards, levels, challenges), individual assistance, and continuous evaluation; (2) student responses were highly positive with 100% enthusiasm, increased focus (ADHD students from 15 to 40 minutes), and improved learning independence; (3) challenges include limited devices and teacher preparation time, while support comes from school leadership, teacher collaboration, and parent participation. This study provides a contextual understanding of gamification curriculum implementation in inclusive elementary schools.
