Abstract

This research examines the maintenance of the Balinese Nusa Penida Dialect (DNP) on the growing popular YouTube channel Alit Werdi Suputra. The problems studied are the use of the DNP form and their social aspects. Data collected from selected content of Alit Werdi Suputra Youtube channel by note taking technique. Collected data were analysed by sociolinguistic theory by focusing on language maintenance. The study found that the use of DNP reflects the social life of the people of Nusa Penida and social aspects were found including culture, morality, love, education, and politics. The result of this research offers important inspiration for other content creators to raise and promote the Balinese language among YouTube audiences including the millennial generation. This research also has the benefit of seeing the significance of YouTube in maintaining local language, specifically through the introduction of local dialect into the young generation who are the active audience of social media.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai edukatif dalam Satua I Ubuh sebagai sumber pendidikan karakter anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis nilai-nilai edukatif yang terkandung dalam salah satu cerpen Bali (Satua Bali), yakni Satua I Ubuh. Kajian nilai-nilai edukatif yang terdapat dalam cerita tersebut dianalisis dengan teori pragmatik. Pendekatan pragmatik memberikan perhatian utama terhadap pembaca serta mempertimbangkan implikasi pembaca melalui berbagai kompetensinya. Masalah-masalah yang dapat dipecahkan dengan pendekatan pragmatik seperti tanggapan masyarakat terhadap sebuah karya sastra, baik sebagai pembaca eksplisit maupun implisit. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode perpustakaan karena teks yang diteliti telah didokumentasikan dalam bentuk buku, yaitu kumpulan buku cerpen Bali karya Suparta berjudul Satua Bali. Berdasarkan analisis yang telah dilakukan, terdapat tujuh nilai edukatif yang diperoleh dalam Satua I Ubuh, yaitu nilai tanggung jawab, nilai rasa ingin tahu, nilai kreativitas, nilai kerja keras, nilai kejujuran, dan nilai menghargai prestasi. Nilai-nilai tersebut bersifat universal sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai sumber pendidikan anak agar memiliki karakter yang kuat.Kata Kunci: cerita rakyat Bali, nilai edukatif, pendidikan karakter anak

Abstract

This community service project was conducted to enhance the reading and writing skills of Balinese script among students at Yayasan Dana Punia Singaraja, who have limited access to structured and interactive learning resources. The Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model was selected for its ability to integrate collaborative learning with academic competition, thereby increasing learners’ engagement and motivation. The program consisted of several stages, including initial needs assessment, pre-test administration, implementation of the TGT model supported by digital learning media, guided practice sessions, and a post-test evaluation. The results indicate a notable improvement in participants’ ability to recognize, read, and write Balinese script, as reflected in the increased scores between the pre-test and post-test, alongside positive responses to the game-based learning activities. These findings demonstrate that the TGT model is effective for Balinese script instruction, particularly within heterogeneous learning groups. This program provides a valuable reference for educators and social institutions seeking to develop more adaptive, engaging, and sustainable learning strategies for the preservation and revitalization of Balinese script.
