Abstract

Tasiwalie Village is one of the coastal villages located in Suppa districtc which is named Lowita Beach. This beach has been very crowded since 2015, both local and foreign visitors. However, all activities on the beach stopped due to Covid-19 in 2019. PKM activity was carried out to diversify milkfish ice cream as an increase in income for housewives (IRT) in Tasiwalie village, Suppa district. The purpose of this activity is to provide training to IRTs in opening up insight into home industry entrepreneurship through processed milkfish products into milkfish ice cream. Implementation of activities October 29, 2022. The method of implementation includes socialization which aims to provide an overview of the benefits of fish consumption and various ways of processing fishery products. The PKM team itself provided tools and materials for activities by empowering milkfish from ponds in Tasiwalie village itself. Furthermore, we provide training in the form of hands-on practice on how to make milkfish ice cream. As a result of this PKM activity, the IRT and local residents know the benefits of consuming fish and various processed fishery products. During the practice process, it went well and the IRTs easily understood the ingredients and steps in the process of making milkfish ice cream. The practice results are packed with a quantity of 80 cups of ice cream. An IRT can start a business from the IRT itself or submit a proposal for village assistance. This activity can hone the spirit of creativity in entrepreneurship to increase household income. It can be the first step in cultivating a new spirit after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Plastic bottle waste is the result of waste in the form of bottles made of plastic or glass resulting from a production process both industrial and domestic. The existence of this waste is considered to have no economic value and selling value, but to reduce the abundance of plastic waste, especially plastic bottles, there must be innovation that has the purpose of utilization. The concept of using plastic bottle waste as a medium for maintaining ornamental fish is called Aquascape. This activity was carried out in November 2022. One of the methods carried out was by introducing students to recycling plastic bottles and types of ornamental fish. It is hoped that this dedication will reduce the capacity of plastic waste which can reduce the quality of health and the beauty of the environment. The results of collecting used bottles will later be created into an aquascape.

Abstract

Community service activities through the Teaching Campus (KM) program. The application of ornamental fish farming accompanied by the socialization of fond of eating fish aims to increase community knowledge within the scope of placement schools regarding the benefits of eating fish. This activity has provided students with the experience of learning and working and mingling directly with the community. The placement of the program is SDN 122 BARRU which is located in Batupute Village, SoppengRiaja District, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The results of community service activities through the KM program in the field of aquacultureare increasing public awareness of the importance of eating fish to increase nutrition and prevent stunting.

Abstract

One of the fundamental problems in tilapia aquaculture is the decline in water quality in the hatchery. The seed stage is more vulnerable to environmental changes that can reduce the gowth process of seeds and will further cause death. This study aims to determine the effect of fortification of papaya leaf flour (Carica papaya L.) to stimulate tilapia gowth. This study used an experimental method to treat different doses of papaya leaf flour mixed into the feed, namely 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%, with the test animals used as tilapia seeds measuring 1.4 gams with a length of 3.2 cm. The proximate test results showed that the moisture, ash, crude fat, crude protein, crude fiber, and BETN content were suitable for tilapia fish needs. After 30 days of rearing with the test feed, there was an effect on the specific gowth rate parameters on day 15 and day 30 and the average absolute gowth. The best specific gowth rate (SG) at a dose of 2% was obtained at 6.606% on day 15 and 4.400% on day 30. The best average absolute gowth was obtained at 2% dose feeding with tilapia weight of 6.606 gams and length of 4.400 cm.

Abstract

The addition of multi-amino acids to the culture media for Portunus pelagicus crab larvae accelerates the metamorphosis rate from the zoea to megalopa stages. The research aims to examine the effect of adding multiple amino acids to the rearing media and determine the best dosage on the rate of acceleration of metamorphosis (stage transfer) of P. pelagicus crab larvae from zoea to megalopa stages. Test samples are taken daily to see the development of larvae or larval stage index. The test animals used in this research were zoea-1 stage crab larvae stocked at 100 individuals/L density. The container used in this research was a black plastic basin with a water volume of 30 liters. Treatment doses of amino acids were 0, 150, 200, and 250 ppm with 3 repetitions each. The research results show that administering multi-amino acids in the rearing media can accelerate the transfer rate of crab larvae stages. The fastest rate of acceleration of metamorphosis from zoea to megalopa was produced at a treatment dose of 250 ppm for 10 days, and the longest was produced at a dose of 0 ppm for 13 days. Stage transfer between sub-zoea takes 2-3 days for metamorphosis, and zoea to megalopa takes 10-13 days.

Abstract

Ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus) merupakan perikanan air tawar yang telah massif dibudidayakan. Peningkatan produksi komoditi ini telah banyak dilakukan melaui budidaya secara intensif, namun dihadapkan pada berbagai permasalahan yaitu serangan patogen yang dapat menyebabkan kematian organisme budidaya. Solusi dari permasalahan ini dapat ditanggulangi dengan pemberian imunostimulan yang bersumber dari bahan herbal ekstrak Aloe vera. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh ekstrak lidah buaya yang dicampurkan ke dalam pakan komersial pada sintasan dan persentase hematokrit ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus). Pemeliharaan ikan selama penelitian berlangsung selama 15 hari yang dilakukan pada akuarium bervolume 40 liter. Penelitian didesain menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu perbedaan dosis ekstrak Aloe vera dengan 3 ulangan, dosis yang digunakan adalah 0, 5, 10 dan 15 g/kg pakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penambahan ekstrak Aloe vera ke dalam pakan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) pada sintasan dan persentase hematokrit ikan nila. Namun secara deskriptif ekstrak Aloe vera pada dosis 10 g/kg pakan menunjukkan sintasan dan persentase hematokrit tertinggi ikan nila.

Abstract

One of the phases that determines the success of fish farming is the egg hatching phase. The production of good quality Tawes larvae can occur if the hatchability of  eggs is high and quality of eggs produced is good. The hatchability of eggs is relatively low at only 22% and can only produce approximately 10,000 fry, this is an important problem in the spawning process of Tawes fish in Indonesia. As an effort to increase the hatching rate of Tawes fish eggs, this is by treating the ratio of male to female broodstock differently in each hatching container. This research aims to determine the effect of comparison of the number of male and female broodstock on Tawes fish seed production and to find out how many seeds are produced by the ratio of male and female Tawes fish broodstock. The research was carried out for one month using the experimental design method. The parameters observed were the degree of egg hatching and air quality measurements, then data obtained were analyzed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using SPSS 24 for Windows software. The results of the research showed that the ratio of male to female broodstock had an effect on production of Tawes fish (Barbonymus gonionotus) larvae, where the highest larvae production was obtained at a male broodstock ratio of 2: 1 female.
