Abstract

This study aims to determine the toxicity of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.) and patchouli leaf extract (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) on the mortality of the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana). The extract was prepared using the maceration method, using distilled water as a solvent. Soursop and patchouli leaf extracts with a concentration of 5% were sprayed as much as 2 ml on each American cockroach. The results of the study were cockroach mortality data for 1-120 hours with observations every 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours. As for the results obtained, the administration of soursop leaf extract cockroach mortality at the 24th hour was 66.67% and at the 48th hour 100% cockroach mortality. Whereas in the administration of patchouli leaf extract cockroach mortality at the 96th hour was 66.67% and at the 120th hour 100% cockroach mortality.

Abstract

This Community Service Activity aims to improve laboratory management competency and optimize the implementation of practicums and provide an understanding of the latest technical guidance and participants are able to manage laboratories according to standards. Participants in this activity are high school/vocational high school teachers. The method of implementation of this Community Service activity is carried out in the Biology Department laboratory. The implementation time in November 2025 is carried out for 2 days. Participants who took part in this laboratory management training are high school/vocational high school teachers. The method of implementation of this service is carried out in several stages, namely the preparation stage, and the face-to-face implementation stage. The implementation stage consists of lectures explaining material on laboratory governance and management, making preparations for preservation and direct practice in the laboratory. Direct practice in the laboratory by providing direct practical training on arranging equipment and chemicals such as making solutions, as well as occupational health and safety in the laboratory. The results of this community service activity show that participants have acquired knowledge and skills to improve teachers' abilities in managing laboratory facilities with a good managerial and technical approach. School laboratories are important places for the practice of science and technology so their management must be carried out carefully and in accordance with safety protocols.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat yang dilaksanakan di Desa Maccini Baji KecamatanBajeng Kabupaten Gowa bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalammemanfaatkan limbah walet menjadi biofertilizer atau pupuk organik cair. Permasalahan utamamitra sasaran adalah berkaitan dengan adanya limbah kotoran walet yang pemanfaatannyabelum diketahui, khususnya pengolahannya menjadi biofertilizer yang efektif dan ekonomis.Keterbatasan teknologi pengolahan juga menjadi masalah karena proses pengolahan limbahwalet memerlukan teknologi dan peralatan tertentu untuk menghasilkan produk yangberkualitas, namun mitra belum memiliki akses terhadap teknologi tersebut. Metodepelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini meliputi ceramah, diskusi, danpelatihan. Tahapan kegiatan ini meliputi koordinasi, persiapan alat bahan, penyampaian prosespembuatan biofertilizer bagi mitra sasaran dan tehnik pengaplikasian hasil pembuatanbiofertilizer pada tanaman. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat menambahan wawasandan pengetahuan masyarakat dalam pembuatan biofertilizer serta tambahan pengalaman danpeningkatan keterampilan dalam pembuatan pupuk organik cair. Kegiatan pengabdian kepadamasyarakat ini sudah dilaksanakan dengan baik dan hasil evaluasi kepuasan mitramenunjukkan skor rata-rata 3,56 dari skala 4. Adapun sebaran frekwensi 66,67% pesertamenyatakan sangat puas dan 33,33% peserta menyatakan puas dengan pelatihan pembuatanbiofertilizer berbahan limbah kotoran walet. Dan tingkat pengetahuan peserta sebelum dansetelah pelaksanaan kegiataan mengalami peningkatan sebesar 60%.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effects of digital fatigue, cognitive load, and moral reasoning on biology knowledge and biology attitudes, as well as the effect of biology knowledge on biology attitudes among senior high school students in Makassar City during the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). A cross-sectional design was employed involving 500 students from 10 senior high schools in Makassar City. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results revealed that digital fatigue, cognitive load, and moral reasoning had positive and significant effects on both biology knowledge and biology attitudes (p < 0.05). Biology knowledge also had a positive and significant effect on biology attitudes (β = 0.386, p < 0.05). The R² values indicated that the model explained 69.3% of the variance in biology knowledge and 73.9% of the variance in biology attitudes. These findings suggest that cognitive factors, moral reasoning, and digital learning experiences play important roles in enhancing biology knowledge and shaping students’ attitudes toward biology in the AI era.
