Abstract

This study investigates the factors influencing artificial intelligence (AI) adoption readiness among Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic Elementary School) teachers in Polewali Mandar, Indonesia. Employing a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design, the research examined the relationships between teachers' perceptions of AI benefits (PB), teachers’ attitudes toward AI (TA), and their readiness to adopt AI technologies (AR). Data were collected from 45 teachers selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria including minimum teaching experience and basic digital technology knowledge. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire with a 4-point Likert scale measuring the three main variables. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings revealed strong support for all three hypotheses: teachers' perceptions of AI benefits significantly influenced their attitudes toward AI (path coefficient = 0.914), teachers' perceptions directly affected their AI adoption readiness (path coefficient = 0.603), and teachers' attitudes positively influenced their adoption readiness (path coefficient = 0.389). The model demonstrated exceptional explanatory power with R-square values of 0.942 for AI adoption readiness and 0.836 for teachers' attitudes toward AI. The SRMR value of 0.075 indicated adequate model fit. These results suggest that while positive attitudes contribute to adoption readiness, the perception of tangible benefits appears to be the more influential factor in teachers' decisions to embrace AI technology. This research provides an empirical foundation for educational stakeholders to design effective AI implementation strategies in Islamic elementary schools by prioritizing demonstrations of tangible technology benefits as the key factor in enhancing teacher adoption readiness.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology requires pre-service teachers to possess both the skills and motivation to utilize technology. They should not be passive users but rather active developers of instructional media that incorporate technological elements. This study aims to analyze the influence of technological skills and technological motivation on students’ creativity in designing joyful learning-based worksheets. The research was conducted in July 2025, involving 118 students from the Elementary Teacher Education (PGSD) program at Universitas Sulawesi Barat. Data were collected using a four-point Likert scale questionnaire comprising 17 items, of which 8 were validated. Data analysis employed Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) using SmartPLS software. Descriptive analysis revealed that the majority of respondents were 20 years old (53%) and predominantly female (82.2%). The measurement model (outer model) confirmed the validity and reliability of the instrument, while the structural model (inner model) yielded an R² value of 0.752 for the student creativity construct, indicating a strong effect. Bootstrapping analysis showed that both technological skills (p = 0.000) and technological motivation (p = 0.000) had a positive and significant influence on student creativity. These findings affirm that the higher the students’ technological skills and motivation, the greater their creativity in developing innovative instructional media. This study expands the theoretical understanding of the integration between technology and pedagogical creativity, and offers practical implications for curriculum development that responds to the demands of the digital era.

Abstract

Abstract: Teacher education in rural contexts faces challenges related to limited teaching practice opportunities, technological access, and pedagogical support, which may affect pre-service teachers’ instructional readiness. This study examines the roles of teaching anxiety, teaching efficacy, immersive learning experience, and interest in virtual reality in shaping basic teaching skills through virtual reality–based microteaching among elementary pre-service teachers in rural contexts. A quantitative explanatory design was employed involving 205 pre-service teachers from the Primary School Teacher Education program at Universitas Sulawesi Barat. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The findings indicate that immersive learning experience has a strong positive effect on basic teaching skills (β=0.501, p<0.001), followed by teaching efficacy (β=0.372, p<0.001). In contrast, teaching anxiety shows a negative but non-significant effect (β = −0.043, p > 0.05). Additionally, interest in virtual reality positively influences immersive learning experience (β=0.330, p<0.001) and indirectly contributes to basic teaching skills through immersion (β =0.165, p<0.01). The model explains 61.3% of the variance in basic teaching skills (R²=0.613). These results highlight the potential of virtual reality–based microteaching as an effective approach for developing pedagogical skills among elementary pre-service teachers in rural educational settings. Abstrak: Pendidikan guru di daerah rural menghadapi berbagai tantangan, seperti keterbatasan kesempatan praktik mengajar, akses teknologi, dan dukungan pedagogis, yang dapat memengaruhi kesiapan mengajar calon guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran kecemasan mengajar, efikasi mengajar, pengalaman belajar imersif, dan minat terhadap virtual reality dalam membentuk keterampilan dasar mengajar melalui microteaching berbasis virtual reality pada calon guru sekolah dasar di daerah rural Sulawesi Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuantitatif eksplanatori dengan melibatkan 205 mahasiswa PGSD Universitas Sulawesi Barat. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket terstruktur dan dianalisis dengan Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman belajar imersif berpengaruh positif kuat terhadap keterampilan dasar mengajar (β=0,501; p<0,001), diikuti oleh efikasi mengajar (β=0,372; p<0,001). Sebaliknya, kecemasan mengajar menunjukkan pengaruh negatif namun tidak signifikan (β =−0,043; p>0,05). Selain itu, minat terhadap virtual reality berpengaruh positif terhadap pengalaman belajar imersif (β=0,330; p<0,001) dan berpengaruh tidak langsung terhadap keterampilan dasar mengajar melalui pengalaman belajar imersif (β=0,165; p<0,01). Model penelitian mampu menjelaskan 61,3% variasi keterampilan dasar mengajar (R²=0,613). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa microteaching berbasis virtual reality berpotensi menjadi pendekatan efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan pedagogis calon guru sekolah dasar di konteks pendidikan rural.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) assisted by Artificial Intelligence on student learning outcomes in elementary schools. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method through the One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The sample in this study amounted to 23 students at SDN No. 24 Inpres Saleppa. The data collection technique is carried out through the provision of learning outcome tests which are carried out before (pretest) and after (posttest) treatment. The research data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results of the descriptive analysis showed an increase in the average score of student learning outcomes from 48.70 during the pretest to 70.43 during the posttest. Based on the results of the normality test, the research data was not normally distributed, so hypothesis testing was carried out using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.001 (<0.05), which indicated a significant difference between learning outcomes before and after treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the TPACK-based PBL model assisted by Artificial Intelligence has an effect on improving student learning outcomes. This learning model encourages active involvement of students in the learning process through problem-solving activities and the use of technology that supports the achievement of more interactive and meaningful learning. Therefore, this model can be used as an alternative learning strategy that is effective in improving student learning outcomes in elementary school.
