Abstract

Talaqqi, a classical face-to-face method of transmitting Islamic knowledge that emphasizes sanad authenticity and meaningful teacher-student relationships, constitutes the cornerstone of traditional Islamic pedagogy. This study maps the intellectual structure and research landscape of talaqqi in international literature through a hybrid Systematic Literature Review and bibliometric analysis of 24 Scopus-indexed documents published between 2013 and 2026. Employing the PRISMA 2020 protocol along with VOSviewer and Biblioshiny, the findings reveal talaqqi as an emerging research field experiencing a significant paradigmatic shift. While remaining firmly rooted in classical principles of sanad, Qur’anic education, and interpersonal pedagogy, the literature demonstrates an inductive emergence of technology, digital platforms, and automated classification models. The study highlights substantial opportunities for hybrid learning frameworks that integrate traditional talaqqi practices with artificial intelligence and digital tools while preserving epistemological integrity. These results offer important theoretical contributions and practical implications for the development of technology-enhanced Islamic pedagogy in higher education institutions.

Abstract

The formation of the integral human being requires an understanding of biological, intellectual, spiritual, and moral dimensions. However, studies integrating Islamic philosophy and modern neuroscience in explaining this formation remain limited. This study examines the concepts of consciousness proposed by Ibn Sina and Santiago Ramón y Cajal and formulates a conceptual synthesis for integral human development. Using library research with a comparative approach, the study analyzes Ibn Sina’s Aḥwāl al-Nafs and Al-Najāh, alongside Cajal’s Texture of the Nervous System of Man and the Vertebrates and Advice for a Young Investigator. Data were analyzed through concept identification, classification, comparison, interpretation, and synthesis. The findings show that Ibn Sina understands consciousness as a manifestation of the soul (al-nafs) actualized through intellect (al-‘aql) toward intellectual, spiritual, and moral maturity. In contrast, Cajal explains consciousness through neuronal organization, the nervous system, and neuroplasticity as the biological basis of cognition. These perspectives are complementary, producing a model of integral human formation that unifies biological, intellectual, spiritual, and moral dimensions. This study contributes to interdisciplinary scholarship and provides a holistic foundation for education, character development, and future human-development research.

Abstract

This article discusses the reconstruction of ontology, epistemology, and axiology as the philosophical foundation for the development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the Society 5.0 era. This era is characterized by the integration of digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data in human life, requiring Islamic education to undergo a philosophical transformation. Through a literature review and philosophical analysis approach, this article asserts that ontological reconstruction places humans as multidimensional beings serving as both servants of God and stewards of the earth. The epistemology of Islamic education in this era integrates revelation, reason, and digital data, while its axiology aims to form the perfect human being (insan kamil) with noble character, critical thinking, and adaptability to technological change. The implication is that Islamic Religious Education should be developed through an integrative-holistic model, Islamic-based technology, and character-oriented spirituality. This study proposes a transcendental-progressive paradigm of Islamic education that upholds divine values while advancing technological mastery for the benefit of humanity.
