This study used qualitative research methods with a sample of pharmaceutical officers who provided drug information services to outpatients, as many as 100 patients. Data collection was carried out by interview, direct observation, and using a check list sheet of drug information components. The results showed that the percentage of components conveyed when delivering drug information, including the name of the drug, drug dosage, type of preparation, rules of use, how to use, time of use, amount of drug, and efficacy or indications, had a percentage of 100%. While the drug information component that is rarely conveyed is how to store the drug with a percentage of 8%, the drug information component that is not conveyed is the side effects of the drug. The results of this study indicate that drug information services to outpatients carried out by pharmaceutical officers in the pharmaceutical installation of the Imelda Pekerja Indonesia Medan Public Hospital have been well implemented, with a percentage of 80.80%. Abstract

The pre-analytical phase is a critical stage in clinical laboratory testing because inappropriate specimen handling may affect the accuracy of laboratory results, including serum triglyceride measurements. This study aimed to determine the differences in serum triglyceride levels between blood samples that were immediately centrifuged and those allowed to clot before centrifugation. This analytical study employed a cross-sectional paired-comparison design involving 31 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Venous blood samples from each respondent were subjected to two different pre-centrifugation treatments: immediate centrifugation and clotting for approximately 20 minutes before centrifugation. Serum triglyceride levels were determined using the enzymatic colorimetric glycerol phosphate oxidase–phenol aminophenazone (GPO-PAP) method with a photometer at a wavelength of 546 nm. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the mean serum triglyceride level in blood samples that were immediately centrifuged was 142 mg/dL, whereas the mean level in blood samples allowed to clot before centrifugation was 156 mg/dL. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the two treatments (p < 0.001), indicating that pre-centrifugation sample handling significantly influenced serum triglyceride measurements. It can be concluded that blood samples allowed to clot before centrifugation produced significantly higher serum triglyceride levels than samples that were immediately centrifuged. Therefore, adherence to standardized pre-analytical procedures is essential to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of serum triglyceride measurements in clinical laboratory practice.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM Type 2 is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia due to insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion. The management of T2DM requires rational pharmacological therapy to achieve optimal glycemic control and prevent complications. This study aimed to evaluate the rationality of antidiabetic drug use in T2DM patients at RSU Imelda Pekerja Indonesia, including aspects of appropriate indication, appropriate drug, appropriate dose, appropriate patient, and appropriate route of administration, as well as to identify the patterns of antidiabetic drug use. This research employed a descriptive observational design with a retrospective approach. Data were collected from the medical records of T2DM outpatients during the period of May–July 2025 with a total sample of 46 patients, selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively by referring to the Indonesian PERKENI 2024 guideline. The pattern of antidiabetic drug use showed that metformin was the most frequently prescribed agent, either as monotherapy or in combination with sulfonylureas (glimepiride/gliclazide MR). The evaluation of rationality demonstrated: appropriate indication (100%), appropriate drug (93.5%), appropriate dose (91.3%), appropriate patient (95.6%), and appropriate route of administration (100%). Overall, the use of antidiabetic drugs at RSU Imelda Pekerja Indonesia was rational. The use of antidiabetic drugs in T2DM patients at RSU Imelda Pekerja Indonesia has been rational according to the five parameters of rationality. These findings support the study hypothesis that antidiabetic drug use is in accordance with therapeutic standards.
