Abstract

This research aims to explore the responses of prospective elementary school teachers to training in developing Android-based educational games as an innovative learning tool. By distributing questionnaires to 121 prospective elementary school teachers in NTB, this research identified the needs, interests, motivations and challenges faced in participating in the training. The research results show that prospective elementary school teachers show a high interest in using educational games as a learning tool, but prospective elementary school teachers face challenges related to technical skills and integration in the curriculum. These findings provide important insights for training providers in designing programs that better suit the needs of prospective teachers, as well as highlighting the importance of continued support for the development of skills in using technology in education.

Abstract

The community service program "SERITA: Happy Library School" was carried out at SDN 1 Mesanggok, Lombok, aiming to address challenges in students' literacy. Although awareness of literacy in West Nusa Tenggara continues to grow, obstacles still persist, such as low reading interest, limited reading materials, and unattractive facilities. Through the Student Creativity Program (PKM) of the University of Mataram, the SERITA program introduced a colorful reading corner designed to stimulate students’ interest in reading. The program engaged students, teachers, parents, and the community in creating a sustainable culture of literacy. The results showed an increase in students’ interest in reading, particularly in fiction books, with additional benefits including social interaction and the development of creativity. Ongoing collaboration between schools and the community is recommended for the long-term success of this literacy initiative.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of Mitra Elementary School teachers in Mataram City regarding the concept and application of the Multiple Intelligences approach in the learning process. Multiple intelligences developed by Howard Gardner emphasizes that each individual has various types of unique intelligences and can be optimally developed through appropriate learning strategies. However, the use of this approach is still limited in elementary school environments, especially in the planning and implementation of learning that is centered on student potential. Through this socialization activity, teachers are given an understanding of the eight types of multiple intelligences, their characteristics, and learning strategies that are appropriate for each intelligence. The method of implementing the activity is in the form of lectures, interactive discussions, and simple case studies. The evaluation results show that this activity has succeeded in increasing participants' insight into the diversity of student potential and the importance of differentiation of learning strategies. It is hoped that this activity will be the first step for teachers to be more adaptive and innovative in developing inclusive learning that is oriented towards the uniqueness of each student.

Abstract

This study is a preliminary study that aims to identify the initial conditions of creativity of prospective elementary school teachers in the Elementary School Science Learning course, as well as to analyze the need for implementing the Ethno-STEM Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The subjects of the study were 30 PGSD students and 2 lecturers teaching the Elementary School Science Learning course at one of the universities in Mataram City. The results of the study indicate that student creativity remains in the moderate category, and learning has not yet fully integrated local cultural values or project-based approaches. Students and lecturers welcome the idea of project-based learning, such as Ethno-STEM, as a solution to increase creativity. This study recommends the development of learning tools based on the Ethno-STEM PjBL model.

Abstract

Creativity is a crucial ability in teacher education, especially for prospective teachers, as it relates to designing innovative, engaging, and contextually relevant learning strategies, methods, and media. However, the creativity of prospective teachers in designing primary science learning remains a challenge, as teaching practices are often conventional and less connected to local cultural contexts. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Ethno-STEM Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in fostering prospective teachers’ creativity in designing science learning media and modules for primary schools. The research was conducted at a University in Mataram involving 59 students of the Elementary School Teacher Education study program, divided into two classes. Data were collected using product assessment observation sheets with a Likert-scale questionnaire (1–4), and the scores were analyzed descriptively to determine the level of creativity demonstrated in the students’ products. The results show that students successfully developed learning products in the form of media and modules integrated with Ethno-STEM. Based on 15 indicators, the average score for learning media was 81.69, while the average score for modules was 82.52. These findings indicate that the products were in the good category, reflecting a positive impact of the model on fostering prospective teachers’ creativity.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary school requires not only active participation but also higher-order thinking skills to achieve meaningful learning outcomes. Critical thinking skills are considered essential in helping students analyze problems and construct logical solutions. This study aimed to analyze the role of critical thinking skills on students’ participation and mathematics learning outcomes through mediation and moderation analysis. The study employed a quantitative explanatory design involving 141 students from grades IV, V, and VI at SDN 27 Cakranegara. Data were collected using questionnaires, tests, and documentation techniques. The data were analyzed using direct effect, indirect effect, moderation, and ANCOVA analyses. The direct effect analysis showed that participation did not significantly affect mathematics learning outcomes (0.051 > 0.05), indicating that participation alone was insufficient to improve students’ achievement. In contrast, critical thinking skills had a positive and significant effect on mathematics learning outcomes (0.002 < 0.05), showing that students with higher critical thinking abilities achieved better learning outcomes. The mediation analysis revealed that critical thinking skills significantly mediated the relationship between participation and mathematics learning outcomes (0.02 < 0.05). However, the moderation analysis indicated that critical thinking skills did not significantly moderate the relationship between participation and learning outcomes (0.696 > 0.05).

Abstract

This study aims to empirically examine the influence of TikTok social media usage and learning motivation on students’ learning outcomes. This explanatory survey research involved 131 fifth-grade students from Cluster IV Sandubaya as research participants. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation techniques, then analyzed using simple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The findings revealed that the use of TikTok social media did not have a significant influence on students’ learning outcomes, as indicated by the significance value obtained (p = 0.295 > 0.05). In contrast, learning motivation showed a significant influence on students’ learning outcomes (p = 0.001 < 0.05), indicating that students with higher learning motivation tended to achieve better academic performance. Furthermore, the interaction test results demonstrated that learning motivation was unable to moderate the influence of TikTok social media usage on students’ learning outcomes (p = 0.199 > 0.05). These findings suggest that the level of learning motivation does not strengthen or weaken the relationship between TikTok usage and learning outcomes among fifth-grade students in Cluster IV Sandubaya. Therefore, learning motivation remains an important factor in improving students’ academic achievement.

Abstract

Digital technology utilization has become an essential component of biology learning in higher education as it supports more interactive, flexible, and student-centered learning processes. This study aimed to describe the profile of digital technology utilization in learning among lecturers of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University of Makassar, based on students’ perceptions. The study employed a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach involving 110 fourth-semester students from the Biology Education, Biology, and Biotechnology study programs selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean scores and percentages. The results indicated that the utilization of digital technology was categorized as high, with an overall mean score of 4.14. The digital material delivery aspect obtained the highest score (4.35), while technology utilization in laboratory activities received the lowest score (3.68). It can be concluded that digital technology has been optimally utilized in biology learning; however, greater efforts are needed to enhance its application in practical laboratory activities.
