Abstract

The community service program "SERITA: Happy Library School" was carried out at SDN 1 Mesanggok, Lombok, aiming to address challenges in students' literacy. Although awareness of literacy in West Nusa Tenggara continues to grow, obstacles still persist, such as low reading interest, limited reading materials, and unattractive facilities. Through the Student Creativity Program (PKM) of the University of Mataram, the SERITA program introduced a colorful reading corner designed to stimulate students’ interest in reading. The program engaged students, teachers, parents, and the community in creating a sustainable culture of literacy. The results showed an increase in students’ interest in reading, particularly in fiction books, with additional benefits including social interaction and the development of creativity. Ongoing collaboration between schools and the community is recommended for the long-term success of this literacy initiative.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of Mitra Elementary School teachers in Mataram City regarding the concept and application of the Multiple Intelligences approach in the learning process. Multiple intelligences developed by Howard Gardner emphasizes that each individual has various types of unique intelligences and can be optimally developed through appropriate learning strategies. However, the use of this approach is still limited in elementary school environments, especially in the planning and implementation of learning that is centered on student potential. Through this socialization activity, teachers are given an understanding of the eight types of multiple intelligences, their characteristics, and learning strategies that are appropriate for each intelligence. The method of implementing the activity is in the form of lectures, interactive discussions, and simple case studies. The evaluation results show that this activity has succeeded in increasing participants' insight into the diversity of student potential and the importance of differentiation of learning strategies. It is hoped that this activity will be the first step for teachers to be more adaptive and innovative in developing inclusive learning that is oriented towards the uniqueness of each student.

Abstract

This study is a preliminary study that aims to identify the initial conditions of creativity of prospective elementary school teachers in the Elementary School Science Learning course, as well as to analyze the need for implementing the Ethno-STEM Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The subjects of the study were 30 PGSD students and 2 lecturers teaching the Elementary School Science Learning course at one of the universities in Mataram City. The results of the study indicate that student creativity remains in the moderate category, and learning has not yet fully integrated local cultural values or project-based approaches. Students and lecturers welcome the idea of project-based learning, such as Ethno-STEM, as a solution to increase creativity. This study recommends the development of learning tools based on the Ethno-STEM PjBL model.
