Abstract

Intense debate on training models used in professional psychology education, including discussion on the specific training models most appropriate for educating future psychologists is far from finished. The authors reviewed articles discussing training models including results of empirical studies in professional psychology programs, which were published in several psychology journals databases (1949 to 2014). The authors have identified (a) the scientist-practitioner; (b) the practitioner model and its derivatives; (c) the clinical-scientist; and (d) the competency-based models. This article also outlines the historical development of each model and a consideration of the main principles espoused by each training model. It seems that discussion on the concept of training models and empirical studies on how these models are used in professional psychology programs outside the context of Western countries, is rare. Thus, this review could serve as a theoretical foundation for the implementation of a study aimed at filling the gap in the discussion of professional psychology program curricula, including the training models used, especially in other contexts than the Western.

Abstract

Very little information has been available on training models in professional psychology programs in Indonesia, despite the IndonesianNational Accreditation Body recommending that scientist-practitioner models be applied in the education of psychologists. By contrast, research abounds on such training models in Western countries. This discrepancy raises the importance of developing a measurement tool appropriate for assessing training models in Indonesian professional psychology programs. This article describes the process of testing the validity and reliability of such a training model measuring tool in the Indonesian context. The authors used the expert evaluation method and the Aiken formula to calculate a coefficient of content validity and item’s internal consistency reliability. This process formed a training model scale comprising 77 items with satisfactory validity and reliability indexes for measuringIndonesian professional psychology program training models.

Abstract

This research aims to validate the memorable experiences of domestic tourists during their travels in Bali. The significance of this topic lies in the absence of studies on the post-pandemic memorable experiences of domestic tourists in Bali. The natural beauty and cultural arts, interactions with the local community and fellow tourists, as well as culinary and gastronomic experiences, are factors contributing to these memorable experiences, serving as primary reasons for domestic tourists to return to Bali. The research used a quantitative approach, involving a survey of 68 members of the academic community from Indonesian universities. The research suggests that the perceived excellence of tourism services in Bali positively influences tourists' likelihood of returning to the destination. Positive experiences in places like Pandawa, Ubud, Uluwatu, and Nusa Penida influence tourists' tendency to return to Bali. The research adds to the existing body of literature on memorable experiences of domestic tourists in Bali and highlights the need for sustainable gastronomic maps, halal, and vegan food options for tourists.

Abstract

Abstract

Pencak silat is one of Indonesia's cultural identities, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Apart from being a martial arts defence, Pencak silat also contains the values of local wisdom textually and contextually. Pencak silat in Indonesia comes from 2 regions: Minangkabau (West Sumatra) and Cimande (West Java).  This research discusses the study of martial arts as a medium of self-defence and traditional educational media in Minangkabau, West Sumatra. A Minangkabau youth must learn martial arts and learn to read the Quran in a mosque (surau) as a provision for a man who has grown up if he wanders to other areas. The Minangkabau community in ancient times had two important educational institutions, namely surau and sasaran silat. Location of Surau (masjid) and sasaran silat usually side by side. In surau, young people learn to read the Al-Quran and religious knowledge, while in sasaran silat, they learn martial arts and various arts. Islamic teachings during the Minangkabau community have succeeded for generations in supporting the philosophy of life: 'adat bersandi syara'- syara' bersandi kitabullah'. This philosophy has been ingrained since birth, strengthening the mental health of youth and coloured in the daily life of the Minangkabau people. In other words, the embodiment of Islamic culture folklore minang can be seen in the life of the Minangkabau people. This made Minangkabau martial arts develop and spread in various parts of Indonesia.
