Abstract

Insect pest attack on rice (Oryza sativa L.) and maize (Zea mays L.) could be potential in decrease production. This study aims to determine the insect pest species of rice and maize and attack intensity in Lahat District. This study was conducted using survey methods. The systematic random sampling methodology was adopted for sample population identification. Surveys were conducted in 3 subdistricts (Jarai, Pajar Bulan and Sukamerindu). Found three rice insect pests species. The third species was rice stem borer (Scirpophaga incertulas), leaf folder (Cnaphalocrosis medinalis) and rice bug (Leptocorisa sp). Found one maize insect pest species was fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda). S. incertulas has attacked in 7 locations with low-intensity, Leptocorisa sp has attacked in 2 locations with low-intensity, C. medinalis has attacked in 1 location with low-intensity and S. frugiperda has attacked in 4 locations with low-intensity. Rice stem borer and fall armyworm can attack crop from the vegetative to generative phase.

Abstract

Jeruk siam (Citrus nobilis var. Microcarpa) merupakan salah satu jenis jeruk yang potensial dan banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia. Salah satu penyakit jeruk siam yang dapat menurunkan produktivitas serta kualitas adalah CVPD karena penyebarannya yang cepat. Peneltian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi respon selang waktu pemberian pupuk cair terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman jeruk siam (Citrus nobilisvar. Macrocarpa) yang terserang CVPD. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang diulang sebanyak 8 kali, dengan perlakuan yang terdiri dari 1 kali semprot pada awal penelitian (S0), 10 hari sekali (S1) dan 30 hari sekali (S2). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan interval waktu penyemprotan 10 hari sekali (S1) terindentifikasi mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan jeruk siam sebagaimana direpresentasikan melalui panjang daun, lebar daun, lingkar cabang dan klorofil daun. Kesimpulannya interval waktu tersebut direkomendasikan dalam pemberian pupuk cair untuk memicu pertumbuhan jeruk siam yang terserang CVPD. Siamese orange (Citrus nobilis var. Microcarpa) is one of the potential citrus varieties and is widely cultivated in Indonesia. One of the Siamese orange diseases that infects citrus plants and threatens global citrus production and quality is CVPD due to its rapid spread. This research aimed to evaluate the response time interval for application liquid fertilizer to the growth of Siamese oranges (Citrus nobilisvar. Macrocarpa) infected with CVPD. The experiment was arranged based on Randomized Block Design (RBD) was repeated 8 times, with treatments consist of one time spray at the beginning of the research (S0), once-every 10 days (S1) and once-every 30 days (S2). The results showed that spraying interval of once-every 10 days (S1) was identified being able to increase the growth of Siamese oranges as represented by leaf length, leaf width, branch circumference and leaf chlorophyll. To conclude, this time interval is recommended for application liquid fertilizer to stimulate the growth of Siamese oranges infected by CVPD

(pp. 570-580).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is one of the most important plantation products in the Indonesian economy. The aimed of this study was to identify the effective herbicide for oil palm farms. Research has been carried out From November 2022 to February 2023, in PT Intimegah Bestari Pertiwi in Kemang, Sanga Desa District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, Indonesia. The method used in this research was randomized block design (RBD) and there were 10 treatments which were repeated three replications. The results showed that herbicide treatment had a significant effect on weed dry weight at 4 MSA, but not at 8 MSA or 12 MSA, according to analysis of variance. Weed vegetation was analyzed before application and the results showed that there were 4 grass weed species, 7 broadleaf weed species and 1 puzzle weed species. The Sum Dominance Ranking (SDR) of the weeds varied. Weeds with SDR more than 5% are revealed by the study, namely in the group of herbaceous leaf weeds there was 1 species namely Ottochloa nodosa 38.4%, in the group of broadleaf weeds there were 3 species namely Clidemia hirta 12.3%, Legazpia polygonoides Beth 10.6%, Borreria alata 6.41%, Melastoma candidum L. 6.14%. thus, there is 1 species of weeds in the puzzle type namely Scleria sumatrensis 9.59%. and based on direct visual observations in the field, the use of herbicides in each treatment showed 0 or no symptoms of poisoning (toxic) to oil palm plants.

(pp. 135-144).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Red romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. longifolia) is a lettuce variety containing antioxidant, vitamin, and fiber contents that are beneficial in meeting dietary fiber requirements. This vegetable has the potential to be cultivated in suboptimal areas, including urban land. This study was aimed at identifying the impact of several shade intensities and organic mulch with watering intensities on romaine lettuce growth at early vegetative stages. The research followed a split plot design consisting of 2 treatments, namely shade intensity as the main plot (45% shade, 55% shade, and 80% shade) and organic mulch with watering intensities as subplots (without mulch with no intensive watering, organic mulch with no intensive watering, and organic mulch with intensive watering) and repeated 3 times. The results showed that shaded red romaine lettuce (45% shade, 55% shade, and 80% shade) increased growth at early vegetative growth. However, it was not statistically significant. Meanwhile, the application of organic mulch through intensive watering tends to increase shoot and root growth. Differences in shoot and root growth as a result of the treatments applied can also be shown through their visual appearance. Shade and mulch treatments by intensive watering were confirmed to be able to control the microclimate represented through media moisture. The 80% shading and the organic mulch with intensive watering were able to increase media moisture. In conclusion, 80% shading and organic mulch with watering improved red romaine lettuce growth at the early vegetative stage, although recovery to a lower shade is necessary to avoid inhibited root and shoot growth.

Abstract

Bibit kelapa sawit yang dibudidayakan memiliki peran besar untuk pertumbuhan dan hasil produksi selanjutnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dampak penggunaan dosis dan selang waktu pemberian pupuk hayati terbaik pada pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan dua faktor: konsentrasi atau takaran (T) dan selang waktu (S). Faktor T memiliki empat tingkat (T1: 25%, T2: 50%, T3: 75%, T4: 100%), sedangkan faktor S memiliki tiga selang waktu (W1: 5 hari, W2: 10 hari, W3: 15 hari). Variabel yang diamati berupa data pertumbuhan tanaman selama fase vegetatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaplikasian pupuk cair biofitalik dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit berumur tiga bulan. Konsentrasi 100% dan selang waktu 5 hari berpengaruh positif terhadap tinggi tanaman dan total luas daun. Konsentrasi 100% dan selang waktu 15 hari berpengaruh baik pada jumlah daun. Konsentrasi 100% dan selang waktu 10 hari berpengaruh positif pada diameter batang. Konsentrasi 100% dan selang waktu 5 hari juga berdampak baik pada total luas daun.

Abstract

Chikurmanis or katuk (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr.) is a traditional leafy vegetable that is consumed widely in Indonesia. The leaf is rich in vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and dietary fiber. The study aimed to investigate the leaf growth pattern and morphological characteristics of the chikurmanis cultivated in the tropical lowland ecosystem. The research was conducted on local farmland in Marga Sakti Sebelat, Bengkulu, Indonesia on December 2023 by survey method. The results showed that the leaf of chikurmanis grew in the daytime and continued to grow at nighttime as indicated in midrib length, leaf width, and foliole number. It is likely that nighttime growth become predominant in chikurmanis. The plant was a type of shrub with complete organs of stem, branch, root, flower, and leaf. The leaf was arranged as a compound leaf with many folioles in opposite positions. Midrib length (M) x leaf width (W) with a zero intercept of linear regression was the most reliable predictor of leaf area with the formula Y = 0.4964MxW (R2 = 0.9677).
