Abstract

With the premise that the production and distribution of products and services is vital to aid people in growing their life, this article examines Karl Marx's historical materialism and its methodology. Economic considerations serve as the foundation of human existence, while the concrete problems of human awareness in the fields of science, philosophy, ideology, and religion serve as the superstructure, according to him. According to Marx, society's superstructure is defined by its economic foundation. Marx argued that the struggle between social classes was the driving force behind all major historical shifts. Marx posits a social hierarchy in which the capitalist bourgeoisie and the working class proletariat are the two main social groups. Thus, rather than people, social class is a product of historical development that dictates how events unfold. A class revolution is inevitable given the presence of these two social strata. Religion is the opium of the masses, according to Marx; the more one devotes oneself to religion, the more lost he will become. Religion does not create man, but rather, Marx argues that humans create religion

Abstract

The article examines Islamic characteristics of environmental governance with a focus on the granting of mining and mineral business licences (IUPs) to religious organisations. This case study was conducted to understand how Islamic principles can be applied in sustainable and responsible environmental governance practices. The article used a qualitative approach with a case study method involving document analysis and participatory observation. The results showed that Islamic principles, such as tawhid (the oneness of God), Khilafah (human leadership on earth), and Kaslahah (public interest), play an important role in decision-making regarding the granting of IUPs. In addition, this study found that the application of Islamic values in environmental governance can improve compliance with environmental regulations and strengthen commitment to nature conservation. These findings make an important contribution to the development of policies that integrate religious values in environmental governance in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of dualism in the management and implementation of Islamic education in Indonesia, focusing on the parallel systems of madrasahs and pesantren. Employing a qualitative approach, this research aims to understand the dynamics, challenges, and implications of these two educational systems. Through in-depth interviews with educators, administrators, and policymakers, as well as a review of literature and policy documents, the study finds that madrasahs adhere to the national educational standards set by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, whereas pesantren operate with greater autonomy, emphasizing traditional Islamic education. This dualism results in variations in student outcomes and educational experiences, highlighting the need for integrated policies that recognize and bridge the strengths of both systems. The study concludes with recommendations to enhance the synergy between madrasahs and pesantren to improve the quality of Islamic education in Indonesia.
