Abstract

Pattern recognition in early childhood contributes to children's mathematical development at the next level of education. To maximize children's ability to recognize patterns, task plans and supporting activities are needed in early childhood learning activities. The purpose of this literature review is to explain the design of tasks and activities that educators can apply to develop children's abilities related to patterns in pre-mathematics. The research method used is literature study or literature review. This method collects library data obtained from books and articles in journals related to the concept of patterns in early childhood. The research results show that task designs that can develop educators include copying and making patterns, expanding patterns, translating patterns, identifying the smallest units in patterns, recognizing similar patterns and adding missing patterns. The supporting activities that can be implemented include ronce activities, playing letter cards and playing with blocks.

Abstract

Edukasi pengenalan dan pemilahan sampah dilatarbelakangi oleh kebiasaan anak didik di TK Sekarawangi Wanasaba Lauk yang tidak membuang sampah pada tempat sampah sehingga lingkungan sekolah menjadi tidak bersih. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan kepedulian siswa terhadap kondisi pencemaran lingkungan akibat sampah. Pemberian materi edukasi meliputi konsep tentang sampah yang mencakup jenis-jenis sampah dan cara membuang sampah pada tempat sampah yang terpilah. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 31 Mei 2025 dengan melibatkan 21 anak didik. Kegiatan edukasi ini meliputi 3 tahap yaitu tahap pengenalan konsep sampah, tahap praktik pemilahan sampah serta tahap evaluasi dan refleksi. Metode yang digunakan adalah diskusi interaktif dan praktik langsung. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa edukasi pengenalan dan pemilahan sampah dapat memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman kepada siswa terkait jenis sampah dan cara membuang sampah pada tempat sampah terpilah. Pemahaman konsep dasar sampah pada kegiatan ini mencapai 91%. Kegiatan edukasi juga memunculkan kebiasaan siswa yang mulai membuang sampah pada tempatnya secara konsisten.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Collaborative Learning model on students’ mathematical communication skills and mathematical problem-solving skills in the topic of polyhedra (three-dimensional shapes with flat surfaces). This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent control group pretest–posttest design. The population of the study consisted of all eighth-grade students of MTs Manba’ul Ulum Dasan Ketujur, West Lombok. The sample comprised two classes selected through cluster random sampling, namely one experimental class and one control class, each consisting of 30 students. The research instrument was an essay test used to measure students’ mathematical communication skills and mathematical problem-solving skills. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including the normality test, homogeneity test, independent samples t-test, and MANOVA test with the assistance of SPSS software. The results of the study indicate that students’ mathematical communication skills and mathematical problem-solving skills in the experimental class improved more significantly than those in the control class. The results of the independent samples t-test revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. Furthermore, the MANOVA test results showed that the Collaborative Learning model simultaneously had a significant effect on improving students’ mathematical communication skills and mathematical problem-solving skills in the topic of polyhedra. The novelty of this study lies in examining the effectiveness of the Collaborative Learning model in improving two mathematical abilities simultaneously, namely mathematical communication skills and mathematical problem-solving skills on the topic of polyhedra (three-dimensional shapes with flat surfaces) using a multivariate analysis approach (MANOVA).

Abstract

Integrasi antara matematika dengan budaya lokal memberikan perspektif baru dalam pengajaran yang lebih kontekstual dan dekat dengan pengalaman kehidupan sehari-hari siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas VII di SMPN 1 Bolo melalui pembelajaran berbasis etnomatematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek siswa kelas VII. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif pada materi kesebangunan dan wawancara semi-terstruktur, lalu dianalisis berdasarkan empat indikator berpikir kreatif menurut Munandar: kelancaran (fluency), keluwesan (flexibility), keaslian (originality), dan elaborasi (elaboration). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis etnomatematika memunculkan variasi kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Subjek dengan kesiapan kognitif lebih baik menunjukkan kelancaran dan keluwesan berpikir yang kuat serta potensi keaslian solusi. Namun, hampir seluruh subjek masih lemah dalam aspek elaborasi, khususnya dalam mengembangkan penjelasan secara rinci.
