Abstract

Technology is developing fast nowadays. All fields of life have implemented sophisticated technology, including agriculture, food processing, the automotive industry, and even entertainment. Technological competition actually has positive and negative impacts such as unemployment, cold war between countries, and terrorism. To follow news of the development of a country is actually very easy. The news can be seen on the web, social media and TV. One of the easiest is TV. To be able to follow the development of other countries through TV, can be seen through foreign TV channels. Some of the famous ones are NHK, Channel News Asia, France24, DW, Aljazeera, and Russia Today. This study aims to determine the process of teaching English using satellite TV and whether the use of satellite TV media can improve the students’ English mastery. This study uses a Class Research (CAR) approach. The implementation model in this study uses four steps: identifying problems and planning actions; implementing actions and observing or monitoring actions; reflection of the results of observations; and revise plans for the next step. This research uses 2 cycles in the learning process. The subjects of this study were third semester students of the English Education Study Program at NU University, Sunan Giri Bojonegoro in the academic year of 2019/2020. This research was carried out in the room U8 of NU University, Sunan Giri Bojonegoro. The results of this study are: In the pre-test, the number of students who passed a total of 6 students (17.14%) with an average score of 63.71. In the first cycle, the number of students who passed was 19 students (54.28%) with an average score of 73. In the second cycle, the number of students who passed was 33 students (94.28%) with an average score of 78.43. Based on the average score of the pre-test, cycle I, and cycle II it can be concluded that the use of satellite TV can improve the students’ English mastery at NU Sunan Giri University.Technology is developing fast nowadays. Abstract

Starting with the Hutchinson and Walter (1994:18) that said if ESP is an approach to language learning based on the students’ need. Moreover, knowing the reason for the students learn English is the fundamental reason. As the writer’s experience to teach English in Pharmacy Unugiri Bojonegoro that there was no developed syllabus based on the students’ need but only based on the lecturer’ experience  and knowledge.  This research was at knowing the students’ need and developing it to English in pharmacy syllabus.  The procedures are to break down , to depict the purpose for the syllabus, to choose the syllabus type, to compose the syllabus content, to validate the created syllabus with the expert , to assess and redesign the syllabus.  The subject of this study were fifty students of the second semester of the pharmacy program at Unugiri Bojonegoro that consist of 44 female and 6 male students and an English lecturer. Besides that some questioners were given to the students. The result of this study shows that if the students need the topics that related their future career and real life in their environment. The last result for this research is English in Pharmacy syllabus for bachelor students of Pharmacy program at Unugiri Bojonegoro.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to: 1) The students' ability to write text in hortatory exposures in the first semester of Nadhlatul Ulama Sunan Giri Bojonegoro English program; 2) the difficulties that students experience with the writing of hortatory exposure texts in the first half of Nadhlatul Ulama Sunan Giri Bojonegoro University's English program. This is a mixed form of analysis, which incorporates qualitative and quantitative research. The research participants are 22 representatives from Nadhlatul Ulama Sunan Giri Bojonegoro University's first semester program in English. The data were collected through testing and observation. toryTest has been done to assess students' ability to write the hortatory exposure text and the difficulties encountered by students' ability to write the hortatory exposure text in the first semester of the program of the Nadhlatul Ulama Sunan Giri Bojonegoro University and to recognize all student behaviors or behaviours in writing hortatory exposure. Students had difficulties in the content around 48.70%, in the organization 40.13%, in vocabulary of 38.57%, in grammar around 34.29% and mechanics around 22.85%. This means that students must learn more about the text on hortatory exposure.

Abstract

TOEFL was seen as a prerequisite for non-native English students to study abroad, to get a suitable employment, and to get a university diploma. Students also found it challenging to complete the TOEFL reading exam. This was an experimental research based on applying a non-sequential strategy. This study aimed at investigating whether the use of non-sequential strategy was effective to complete the reading comprehension session in TOEFL ITP or not. 100 English university students engaged entirely in the study as participants. They were studying at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Sunan Giri (UNUGIRI) located in Bojonegoro, Eastern Java, Indonesia. The researcherss provided the students a pre-test and post-test in order to collect the data. The students were permitted to perform the exam on their own during the pre-test. In this pre-test the researcherss provided no special instructions. In the post-test, the participants got a preferential treatment. The students were advised to follow a non-sequential strategy for the exam. The data were produced through the students’ compilation of TOEFL scores. The data were anlyzed by comparing the students’ scores in pre-test and post-test. The results showed that a non-sequential strategy to complete the reading comprehension session of the TOEFL test is very effective to be implemented. This result is addressed further in this article.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the teaching and learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic, the most online learning media used, and advantages and disadvantages of using ICT. This was quantitative qualitative research. The participants of this study were 110 English lecturers at universities in Indonesia. The techniques for collecting the data in this study were questionnaire, interview, and document analysis. In analyzing the data, the researchers used SPSS and Flow Model. There were three stages in the Flow Model, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Based on the analysis of the data, it can be concluded that the English lecturers used several online learning media during English teaching and learning process. There were some advantages and disadvantages of using ICT during the teaching and learning process. It is recommended for English lecturers to use various online learning media so that the students will be enjoyable and get engaged in the learning process. English lecturers should also consider advantages and disadvantages during the use of ICT. For other researchers who want to conduct similar research, the result of this study can be an additional reference.

Abstract

As one of the basic skill of English, speaking had an important role in language learning process. Speaking was an expression of human being through conversation. Based on observation at SMK Pemuda Taruna Bojonegoro, the researcher found that the students had difficulties in developing ideas that they want to speak. They got difficulties in recalling imagination about something that they wanted to say. To overcome this problem, the researcher tried to apply the technique in teaching speaking English, namely picture series. The research method used in this research was quasi- experimental research. The data collected through pre-test and post-test. The sample of the research was the eleventh grade students of SMK Pemuda Taruna Ngraseh. The resulf of the data indicated that, there was difference between the value of students pre- test and post-test. The mean score of post-test (84,39) was the higher than the score obtained in the pre-test (39,45). From t-count , the researcher found that, the value of t- count (-42,698) was higher than t-table (-47,191) at the level of significance 0,000 degree of freedom (df) = 17 . Based on the findings, the researcher concluced that, the use of picture series had good improvement for students’ speaking skill at SMK Pemuda Taruna Ngraseh.

Abstract

Mini satellite TV is one of the alternatives that people may do to acquire excellent broadcasts in order to stay up with the rapid growth of technology as it is now. This is very helpful for the community in getting information that is very useful for them whereas have been receiving training in installing mini satellite, they got additional income from installing mini satellite, and got a lot of information that they really needed, especially young people in helping to improve their language skills like English by viewing English-language programs.Parabola mini merupak salah satu cara yang bisa dilakukan masyarakat dalam mendapatkan siaran-siaran yang berkualitas guna mengikuti perkembangan teknologi yang sangat pesat seperti sekarang ini.  Hal ini sangat membantu masyarakat dalam mendapatkan informasi-informasi yang sangat bermanfaat bagi mereka dimana setelah mereka mendapatkan pelatihan dalam pemasangan parabola mini, mereka mendapatkan penghasilan tambahan dari pemasangan parabola mini, serta mendapatkan banyak informasi yang sangat mereka butuhkan khususnya anak muda dalam membantu meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka dengan melihat acara-acara yang berbahsa Inggris.

Abstract

Kebugaran jasmani merupakan salah satu indikator capaian pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran pendidikan jasmani yang juga berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kualitas hidup siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi kebugaran jasmani siswa sekolah dasar di kecamatan Sugihwaras kabupaten Bojonegoro. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survey. Sebanyak 112 (56 laki-laki dan 56 perempuan) menjadi subjek penelitian ini. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan Plank dan PACER Test. Analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebugaran otot dan kardiovaskular siswa laki-laki lebih baik dibanding dengan siswa perempuan. Namun, kebugaran kardiovaskular baik siswa laki-laki dan siswa perempuan sebagian besar berada dalam tingkat pemula dan berkembang. Oleh karena itu, sekolah, stakeholder, dan guru pendidikan jasmani perlu lebih memfasilitas siswa agar dapat berkativitas jasmani di waktu luang atau ketika istirahat, melakukan pengukuran kebugaran jasmani secara berkala dan meciptakan pembelajaran meaningful dipadukan dengan permainan berorientasi kebugaran yang inovatif

Abstract

Bahasa Inggri merupakan salah satu Bahasa internasional yang sangat penting untuk dikuasai. Bahkan Bahasa Inggris menjadi salah satu mata pelajaran wajib yang dipelajari pada tingkatan sekolah menengah pertama hingga tingkat universitas. Salah satu komponen penting dalam Bahasa Inggris ialah penguasaan kosakata. Kosakata (vocabulary) merupakan salah satu komponen Bahasa yang sangat penting pada tahap awal. Desa Glagahwangi Kecamatan Sugihwaras memiliki anak - anak yang memiliki potensi yang baik karena banyak dari mereka antusias dalam mempelajari Bahasa Inggris. Selain itu mereka masih belum memiliki cara yang cukup efektif dalam belajar kosakata. Sehingga perlu diadakan pendampingan dan pelatihan pembelajaran kosakata Bahasa Inggris dengan Interactive Language Games yang interaktif, menyenangkan dan mampu meningkatkan motivasi dan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris secara baik pada anak – anak di desa Glagahwangi di Desa Glagahwangi Kecamatan Sugihwaras. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini ialah untuk memberikan pelatihan Interactive activity games untuk belajar kosakata Bahasa Inggris kepada anak – anak desa Glagahwangi. Tahapan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini ialah penyamapaian dan pemaparan materi, pelatihan dan praktek kegiatan interactive activity games. Kegiatan pengabdian ini berjalan dengan baik. Anak – Naka dapat menerapkan pembelajaran kosakata di sekolah dan dirumah.
