Abstract

The research aimed to know is any differences in students’ condition before and after giving a treatment and to know the effect of Index Card Match in grammar mastery. This research is experimental research. The population was all eighth-grade students in academic year 2018/2019. It consists of 3 classes, VIII A, VIII B, and VIII C. Using purposive sampling technique, VIII A (experimental class) and VIII B (control class) were chosen as the sample with a total number of students were 25 students in every class. The treatment was conducted in an experimental class in 4 times. The instrument consists of 20 multiple-choice item and 10 completion item questions about grammar test. The data that was collected from preliminary test and post-test were processed using SPSS 18. The result of this research showed that the results of the preliminary test and post-test. It shows that students’ score increase. Students’ score at the preliminary test was classified poor. While at post-test, students mostly classified at very good classification. This result leads to the conclusion that students who were taught by using Index Card Match Strategy achieved higher scores than those who were not.

Abstract

Vocabulary is the basic language aspect that should be mastered before mastering English skills, but most of seventh grade students in MTs SA Darul Istiqomah Kepohbaru still had lack of vocabularies. Therefore the researcher used flashcard as an effort in improving students’ vocabulary mastery. The reason drive the researcher to conduct a research that is the effect of teaching vocabulary by using flashcard for seventh grade students in MTs SA Darul Istiqomah Kepohbaru. The research method used in this study was a quasi-experimental research. The samples were class 7.3 as experimental class and class 7.4 as control class. The collected data in this research were analyzed by using t-test. The result of data analysis showed, the t-value was 33,928 with degree of freedom 23 in the significant level 5% and the t-table was 1,7138. It meant that t-value was higher than t-table. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Hₒ) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. There was significant difference between students’ vocabulary achievement by using flashcards and without flashcards. Thus, it could be concluded that the teaching vocabulary using flashcards was effective on improving students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Teaching English is very challenging nowadays. Senior high school students urgently are needed to be communicative in using English well. They need to be able to develop their English skills well. Dealing with mastering English skills, vocabulary is one of the crucial language components in learning English. In fact, most of the students faced difficulty in acquiring and mastering English vocabulary to support and develop their English skills. English teachers need to apply the appropriate strategy and activity to improve students’ vocabulary. This research aimed to know the process of improving students’ vocabulary mastery by using translation activity for Senior High school students at SMAN 3 Bojonegoro. This research used classroom action research. The subject of this research was students of Social Program at 11 B. In collecting the data, the writers used test items and observation sheets. The test was given pre-test, test 1 and test 2. Then the writers analyzed the mean score of each test to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery after the action was done. The result shows that there is an improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery. It could be seen from the score of the pretest is 42, posttest 1 is 47,8 and posttest 2 is 61. After conducting action research, it shows that students made good improvements in learning vocabulary. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that using translation activity can improve students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the students need at chemical industry major at SMKN 2 Bojonegoro. This is classified as mixed method research design. It used two kinds of instruments namely questionnaire and interview guidelines. The questionnaire aims to gain and collect information from students especially their need related to English teaching and learning. While, interview guideline is used to gather information from English teacher at SMKN 2 Bojonegoro. The result shows that there are some skills and language components that students need at chemical industry major such as; listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar. Based on the data obtained from questionnaire, most of students say that listening and speaking are two important skills and needed at chemical industry major. While at school, the ESP approach is not applied yet, as a result, it influences on choosing materials. It can be concluded that in designing materials, the teachers and curriculum maker should do needs analysis and analyze what actually students need and work need.

Abstract

Limbah kain perca dapat diolah menjadi berbagai produk yang memiliki nilai ekonomis yang sangat tinggi. Tujuan dari penciptaan produk baru berupa GOBAG JONGOR atau singkatan dari  Goni Bag Jonegoroan ini adalah untuk memanfaatkan limbah kain perca batik Bojonegoro yang banyak dijumpai di konveksi-konveksi terdekat dari penulis yang tidak terpakai dan bahkan banyak yang berakhir di tempat sampah. Kegiatan ini, sekaligus membantu memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat umum, khususnya kepada generasi muda, untuk lebih mencintai tas buatan dari dalam daerah dan ikut melestarikan batik dari daerah kita sendiri. Produksi ini, dilakukan selama kurang lebih empat bulan dari awal perencanaan sampai tahap evaluasi usaha. Sedangkan, untuk kegiatan produksi dan pemasaran dilaksanakan di Desa Gajah, Kecamatan Baureno Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Produk berupa tas dari kain goni dan limbah perca batik Bojonegoro ini, memiliki keunggulan produk awet dan tahan lama. Di samping itu juga, produk yang kami produksi ini dengan bahan baku mudah terurai, sehingga limbahnya tidak menjadikan pencemaran lingkungan. Metode pemasaran, kita menggunakan sistem jual beli online dengan memanfaatkan teknologi yang ada, guna mendukung pemerintah dalam mengurangi gerak social kita selama pandemi. Tujuan yang terakhir adalah untuk melestarikan produk lokal dan memperkenalkan batik khas Bojonegoro di dalam atau di luar negeri. Hasil dari kegiatan produksi ini adalah menghasilkan produk tas dari bahan dasar limbah karung goni dan kain perca batik Bojonegoro yang tidak hanya mengutamakan kuantitas dan kualitas produk, namun juga turut serta dalam memberikan peluang usaha bagi masyarakat.

Abstract

Pandemic covid 19 spreads rapidly. Due to its quick breaks, a lot of countries decided to change some daily routine activies. One of affected aspects is education. Face to face learning has to be turned out into online learning in any level of schools. This present reseach aims to investigate and survey the students’ perception on online learning and what online fatlform mostly used by the students. This research is classified as qualitative research. This research took 74 participants. The data was obtained by distributing questionnaire which consist of some aspects namely method in delivering material, accessibility, beneft and challenges in onine learning and the most common used flatform during online learning. The result reveals that students prefer to get explanation in online learning. Internet connection and accessibility are complicated problems foun during online learning. Most of students also have lack of proper devices. They mostly use their smartphone with less memory devices. As a result, they have problems during online learning. In short, online learning is challenging for students. Microsoft teams is the most common online flatform used by the students in online learning

Abstract

Studying in university is still using asynchronous during online speaking courses due to technology development and practical consideration. This research aims to analyze the students' perception and the effect of using videos in speaking courses using asynchronous mode. This research used the quantitative research method. The instruments are used questionnaires and tests. The finding shows that the university's students have a positive perception of asynchronous learning mode, and the use of videos, as learning material, have a large effect size on the students’ ability to speak during asynchronous mode. It means the use of video can be recommended to teach speaking in the classroom.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an electronic English module that can be used by computer/ IT learners do deeply learn computer programming. It employes Research and Development (RnD) method by applying 4D steps namely define, design, develop and disseminate. Questionnaire is used as instrument and curriculum analysis is done to get the whole description and topic analysis. The result reveals that 83% of alumna agreed that computer learner needed the module that contain the definition of word that used in computer. While the curriculum analysis reveals that some main topics consists of 3 main subjects namely Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. There are two experts gave judgement and validation regarding to the product. The first expert is from English Language practitioner that validate and judges the content and language aspects. The result reveals that module got 4,7 with maximal score is 5. The second expert is from computer/ IT practitioner. He concerns on validating material, appearance, and media and technical terms on the module. The result shows that 4.4 with the maximal score is 5. It can be implied that both experts judge module is appropriate to be used as supplementary material for computer course.

Abstract

Ekonomi merupakan salah satu kunci kemajuan dari suatu daerah. Masyarakat desa Plumbon, mayoritas bekerja dan bergantung pada hasil pertanian. Terdapat lahat pertanian yang luas baik milik pribadi maupun bukan milik perorangan tetapi dikelola oleh perorangan. Dengan bergantung kepada hasil panen, maka dimungkinkan terjadinya gagal panen yang disebabkan karena serangga atau faktor alam. Sehingga dibutuhkan kegiatan lain sebagai pendukung dari pekerjaan antara lain dengan mengembangkan UMKM. Pohon pisang banyak ditemukan di desa Plumbon, sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan untuk diolah menjadi makanan. Kemudian bersama masyarakat mengadakan pelatihan pembuatan krupuk bongsang (bonggol pisang) dan dilanjutkan dengan seminar marketing. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat dibidang ekonomi, seperti menumbuhkan kembali UMKM dan menunjang penjualannya. Hasil akhir dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengolah bonggol pisang menjadi keripik bongsang dan kemudian memasarkan secara langsung atau melalui media internet.

Abstract

Pre-service English teachers face various challenges that can significantly impact their competencies and roles, particularly in dealing with students and fellow teachers. The COVID-19 pandemic has added an extra layer of complexity by necessitating the transition from traditional face-to-face learning to online education. This shift is evident in the case of the microteaching course, which originally took place in a physical classroom but was abruptly moved to an online format. This study aims to examine the experiences of pre-service English teachers in virtual teaching practice and how they navigate the challenges associated with professional development during the microteaching course. A total of 31 pre-service English teachers participated in this research, engaging in virtual teaching practice. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and reflective journals. The findings indicate that pre-service English teachers acknowledge the ineffectiveness of virtual microteaching, citing difficulties in managing and accessing teaching processes as well as the challenges of creating suitable teaching materials. As a result, future pedagogical practices should focus on enhancing the preparation and design of teaching and learning materials to better support the professional development of pre-service English teachers. This will ultimately contribute to their growth as educators during their teaching internships.
