Abstract

This study aims to produce whiteboard animation video-based student teaching materials on optical equipment material motivated by students who tend to be lazy to read printed books. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and response of students to whiteboard animation video-based teaching materials on optical devices. The method in this research is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data collection instruments used teaching material validation sheets to determine the feasibility of teaching materials and student response sheets to find out students' responses to whiteboard animation video-based teaching materials on optical devices. Based on the results of data analysis by expert validation, the average result of all aspects of the assessment is 0.864 with a very feasible category. The results of implementation on students by giving a response of 93% with a very good category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of cognitive knowledge based on the dimensions of knowledge of students on substance pressure material in class VIII of Mater Inviolata Catholic High School. The sampling used is Random Sampling. The sample in this study were VIII grade students of Mater Inviolata Catholic High School totaling 30 people. The data collection instrument used in this study was a cognitive knowledge test question. The results of data analysis can be concluded that the level of cognitive knowledge of students on factual knowledge is categorized as good with an average score of 84. The level of cognitive knowledge of students on conceptual knowledge is categorized as less good with an average score of 69. While the level of cognitive knowledge on procedural knowledge is categorized as less good with an average score of 74, the level of cognitive knowledge of students on metacognitive knowledge is categorized as less good with an average score of 67 and the overall level of cognitive knowledge of students based on the dimensions of knowledge is categorized as less good with an average score of 73.

Abstract

This study aims to 1) find out how to improve students' concept understanding after using PhET simulation as a virtual practicum on vibration, wave and sound material in class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kupang, 2) find out how students' learning activities after using PhET simulation as a virtual practicum on vibration, wave and sound material in class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kupang. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Kupang. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with One-Group Pretest-postest Design method. The research sample was students of class VIII C which amounted to 27 students. Data collection techniques using tests totaling 5 items and observation techniques. The results showed that students' concept understanding increased with a Gain score of 0.54 on sufficient criteria and students' learning activities obtained a percentage of 73% with high criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills and character of students in class VII junior high school after using models of project-based learning on solar system material. This study used a one-group pretest-posttest design, the instruments used were concept understanding test questions and character observation sheets. The result showed that the average understanding of critical thinking in the pre-test was 52% with a moderate category and the post-test was 88% with a high category. The N-Gain value of students' critical thinking is 0,67 with a moderate variety. In contrast, the average character of students is 54% with a moderate category. The result showed that the use of Project Based Learning Models of the solar systems contributed to the improvement of critical thinking and character interest of good students in class VII Junior High School.

Abstract

The low quality of education in schools, especially in science subjects, is attributed to the insufficient competence of science teachers in addressing learning challenges. Teachers are perceived as unresponsive and employ monotonous teaching methods, making the learning process dull. The issue of educational quality is also influenced by the lack of consistent motivation and discipline among students. As leaders in the classroom, teachers play a key role in influencing students' interests and learning outcomes. Creative teachers using varied methods can enhance students' learning interests. This writing highlights the importance of a contextual approach in physics education, making the material more relevant and engaging for students, boosting motivation, and strengthening problem-solving skills. The research utilizes a quantitative method with questionnaires and documentation to assess the impact of the contextual learning approach on motivation and physics learning achievement. The results show a positive and significant effect of the contextual learning approach on motivation and physics learning achievement. Consequently, teachers need to implement a teaching approach relevant to student's daily lives and encourage intrinsic motivation to improve their physics learning achievement. This research provides crucial insights for the development of teaching methods and an understanding of the factors influencing the quality of education in Timor-Leste.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of physics students, especially on sound waves material. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by PhET simulation in improving students' physics learning outcomes. The research method used was a pseudo experiment with a sample of 28 students of class XI IPA 2 at SMA Negeri 2 Kupang. The data obtained were analyzed by quantitative descriptive method. The results showed that after the application of PBL learning model with PhET simulation there was a significant increase in student learning outcomes. From the results of cognitive tests before treatment (pre-test), there were no students who reached the average percentage level of scores ≥ 75%, with an average score of 19. After the treatment (post-test), 25 out of 28 students were declared complete with an average percentage level of 95 or ≥ 75%. At the stage of observation and observation of affective abilities, 25 students reached an average percentage level ≥ 75%, and 3 students were still below 75%. In the follow-up observation on the psychomotor spec, 26 students reached an average percentage level ≥ 75%, and 2 students were still below 75%. The application of PBL model assisted by PhET simulation is effective in improving students' physics learning outcomes on sound wave material.
