Abstract

Sign language is a form of communication between deaf people. In Indonesia, the formal sign language is Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia or SIBI for short which is a formal sign language based on American Sign Language. However, automatic sign language recognition still faces various challenges including the complexity of hand gestures, individual variations in sign performance, and the need for real-time interpretation. These challenges make the accuracy and efficiency of sign recognition very important. To address these issues, the Vision Transformer (ViT) method can be implemented, given its advantage in capturing important features of images and its ability in processing complex computer vision tasks. ViT or Vision Transformer is an artificial neural network architecture designed for image processing or computer vision tasks. From the training results with the Vision Transformer model, the training accuracy is 100% and the validation accuracy is 92.30%.

Abstract

Malnutrition remains a significant public health issue globally, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia. This case report describes the successful management of malnutrition in a 1-year-old child using a family-centered approach within the framework of family medicine principles. A 1-year-old male child presented to the Cikupa Health Center with a history of poor weight gain and recurrent infections. A comprehensive assessment using the Mandala health assessment revealed multiple contributing factors, including suboptimal breastfeeding practices, inadequate complementary feeding, poor environmental sanitation, and limited parental knowledge of nutrition and hygiene. A tailored management plan was implemented, encompassing nutritional interventions, deworming medication, education on hygiene and sanitation, and family support. The child showed positive outcomes, including improved weight gain, reduced frequency of infections, and enhanced growth and development trajectory. In conclusion, this case highlights the effectiveness of a family-centered approach in managing malnutrition. By addressing the interconnected biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors, healthcare providers can achieve sustainable improvements in child health and well-being.

Abstract

Data from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2021 revealed that around 537 million people aged 20-79 years are living with diabetes mellitus. This number is projected to increase to 783 million sufferers by 2045. Indonesia is ranked fifth in the world for the most diabetes cases. At Puskesmas Cikupa, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus has increased from 0.31% in January-July 2023 to 0.59% in January-July 2024. Screening results indicate an increase in random blood sugar levels  ≥ 200 mg/dL, rising from 18.7% to 39.3% in the 3rd and 4th weeks of July 2024. A survey conducted in early August 2024 found that nearly half of the visitors to Puskesmas had lack of knowledge about diabetes mellitus. The Sukamulya Subdistrict, part of puskesmas working area, is facing a significant diabetes mellitus problem that requires immediate attention. To address this issue, the team conducted a health service activity, which included random blood sugar screening and health education. The pretest and posttest scores were analyzed using the paired t test. It was found that 10% participants had random blood sugar levels ≥ 200 mg/dL. The analysis results indicated a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores from the educational activities (p value = 0.0001), with a 28% increase in knowledge. The health service activities successfully increased the knowledge of residents in Sukamulya Subdistrict regarding diabetes mellitus. Furthermore, the blood sugar screening results have helped the puskesmas in carrying out early detection to prevent the increase in diabetes mellitus ABSTRAK Data International Diabetes Federation (IDF) tahun 2021, sekitar 537 juta orang usia 20-79 tahun hidup dengan penyakit diabetes melitus. Abstract

The website of SMK Negeri 4 Samarinda serves an important function in communication and information dissemination, but has several shortcomings, such as unattractive interface design, outdated information, and limited interaction features. This research aims to redesign the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) using the User Centered Design (UCD) approach. The research method includes four stages: understanding the user context, determining user needs, designing solutions, and evaluating against needs. Data was collected through focus group discussion (FGD) and usability testing using System Usability Scale (SUS) and Maze Design. The results showed that the new design prototype improved the SUS score from 61.87 (“Marginal Low” category) to 77.43 (“Acceptable” category). This improvement was also seen in the aspects of aesthetics, layout, and ease of navigation. The conclusion of this study confirms that the UCD method is effective in improving the quality of website UI/UX, there by increasing user satisfaction.
