Abstract

In the current post-truth era, the traditional authority and credibility of Ulama, who have historically been regarded as the paramount source of religious knowledge, are increasingly compromised. This research investigates the diminishing role and efficacy of Indonesian Ulama in addressing religious and social challenges due to the pervasive influence of the Internet and social media, which provide rapid and seemingly authoritative solutions that overshadow traditional scholarly roles. The study employs a mixed-method approach, integrating observations, interviews, and comprehensive library research, incorporating both physical and digital sources. The findings elucidate three critical issues: first, the limited digital literacy among traditional Indonesian Ulama, which impedes their effective engagement with digital platforms; second, a notable gap in the public's comprehension of how to utilize digital media for religious discourse, despite an increasing interest in religious matters; and third, the superficial understanding and heightened biases among the public, stemming from the ease of accessing religious solutions via social media. This study makes a significant contribution to the discourse by underscoring the urgent necessity for Ulama to enhance their digital literacy, thereby reclaiming their authoritative role in the socio-religious landscape and ensuring that their insights remain relevant and accessible in the digital age.

Abstract

This research aims to conduct a philological study of the Malay manuscript entitled Kitab Khutbah Bulan Muharram by Guru Haji Ismail Mundu (1870 - 1957 AD). This research is motivated by the importance of preserving the Malay manuscript heritage as an intellectual and spiritual source of the archipelago, especially in West Kalimantan. The methods used include physical inventory of manuscripts, cataloging studies, digital photography, and text variant analysis to produce a clean and critical edition of the text. The results of the discussion of physical condition are still good even though there are stains and translucent ink, as well as neatly sewn and stored in a pest-proof box. The text description reveals that the sermon structure consists of praise to Allah, salawat to the Prophet, advice on fasting the ten Muharram, and the story of the martyrdom of Husain bin Ali, presented in Arabic-Malay letters. Researchers also highlighted a number of reading variants and writing of Arabic terms that need to be standardized. These findings are important to provide a philological edition that can be used as a reference for further studies in the field of Malay culture and religion.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of multicultural education in a Public Elementary School in Ngabang District which has cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity. The results of the study indicate that the school has succeeded in integrating multicultural values through the Celebration of Religious Holidays and Cultural Activities . These activities not only foster a sense of pride in the cultural identity of each student, but also build an attitude of mutual respect, tolerance, and inclusivity. Students' positive attitudes towards diversity are reflected in harmonious social interactions and enthusiasm for participating in cultural and religious activities. The multicultural education approach applied, supported by the theories of experts such as Ki Hajar Dewantara, James A. Banks, and Tilaar, emphasizes the importance of inclusive education and real-life experience-based education to shape the character of tolerant and open students. These findings indicate that multicultural education can be an effective tool in creating a peaceful learning environment and building a harmonious and socially just Indonesian society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of religious moderation values in the subject of Islamic Religious Education and Character for seventh-grade students at SMP. Using a library research approach and in-depth analysis, this study concludes that there are three effective integration patterns for use in religious moderation-based PAI teaching.First, the integration of religious moderation values through Basic Competencies (KD) and Core Competencies (KI) that include moderation values. This involves the preparation of syllabi and lesson plans that incorporate religious moderation values into every aspect of teaching, from objectives to evaluations.Second, integration through experiential learning. In this approach, students are actively involved in activities that encourage the application of moderation values in everyday life, such as social projects, group discussions, and simulations of conflict situations requiring resolution based on moderation principles.Third, integration through the hidden curriculum collectively implemented by all school elements. The hidden curriculum includes school culture, teacher attitudes and behaviors, and extracurricular activities, all aimed at reinforcing religious moderation values within the school environment. With the implementation of these three integration patterns, it is hoped that students can internalize religious moderation values and apply them in their daily lives, thus creating a harmonious and tolerant environment both in school and in the community
