Abstract

The selection of accurate and credible information plays a vital role in fostering political awareness amongst students. This study aims to understand the perceptions of PPKn Untirta students regarding the role of the Instagram account @narasinewsroom as a source of political education. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that the Instagram account @narasinewsroom is perceived positively as a source of informal political education. This perception is evident from the students assessment of the information as up-to-date, factual, data driven, and presented in simple, communicative language. The use of engaging visuals and straightforward narratives helps students understand complex political issues and concepts, thereby enhancing their political knowledge and understanding. The use of this account also encourages students to question, evaluate and verify the information they receive. The understanding that develops subsequently fosters a critical attitude amongst students towards public policies and issues, whilst also raising awareness of the importance of participation in democratic life. This awareness is evident through students’ interest in political issues, their involvement in discussions and the expression of their opinions.

Abstract

Elections are a democratic process used to elect government leaders and represent the community in government institutions. Money politics is a phenomenon that often occurs in general elections. Money political campaigns are carried out by individuals or groups who use money to influence people's behavior in elections. The aim of this article focuses on the phenomenon of money politics that occurs in society during the campaign period for legislative candidates in the 2024 elections at the neighborhood level and to find out the factors that cause money politics to occur. The form of money politics carried out includes providing basic necessities, money and health services to voters to win votes in legislative elections. This research was conducted using a qualitative research approach, collecting data through interviews and literature reviews. The results of this research show that not all people are influenced by political choices through money politics.
