Abstract

Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium) is the most popular plant in Indonesia, because chrysanthemum flowers have their own advantages in terms of the beauty of their flower colors. The problem with chrysanthemum shoot cuttings is that the roots are not dense enough so that the chrysanthemum plant cannot grow upright. This research aims to determine the effect of Trichoderma sp. on vegetative growth of chrysanthemum plants. This research was carried out for 5 weeks, starting from July to August 2023 at the Green House of the Seed, Nursery and Agrotourism Center, Tomohon City. The method that will be used in this research is a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 5 treatments: P0 = No Trichoderma sp. (Control), P1 = Thricoderma sp. 25 gr/l, P2 = Thricoderma sp. 50 gr/l, P3 = Thricoderma sp. 75 gr/l, P4 = Thricoderma sp. 100 gr/l. All treatments were repeated 5 times so that there were 25 units. The data obtained based on observations in this research will be analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The variables observed were: number of leaves, plant height, number of roots, root length. The results of the study showed that the use of Trichoderma was not significantly different from the variables number of leaves, plant height and root length. Giving trichoderma only had a significant effect on the number of roots (giving 50g trichoderma/liter of water). Keywords: trichoderma sp., chrysanthemum cuttings, growth, results

Abstract

Sweetleaf stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) is one of the potential sugar-producing plants besides sugar cane which is widely used as a natural non-calorie sweetener. Propagation of stevia by shoot cuttings produces more uniform seedlings. Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) contains a group of beneficial bacteria that live in the plant root ecosystem that can stimulate plant growth. This study aims to determine the effect of PGPR on the growth of stevia cuttings and the best concentration of PGPR on the growth of stevia cuttings. This study was conducted in February-May 2024 in Kolongan Atas II Village, Sonder District, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (RAL), with 5 treatment levels, namely P0 = Control (Without PGPR), P1 = PGPR 10 ml/liter of water, P2 = PGPR 20 ml/liter of water, P3 = PGPR 30 ml/liter of water and P4 = PGPR 40 ml/liter of water. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. The results showed that the aplication of PGPR affected the growth of stevia cuttings. The best PGPR concentration for the growth of stevia cuttings was at a PGPR treatment concentration of 20 ml/liter of water.  Keywords: plant growth promoting rhizobacteria, stevia

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of combining Fruit-Based Local Microorganisms fertilizer with inorganic fertilizer on pakcoy yield, and to identify the most effective combination for enhancing production. The research was conducted from May to June 2025 in Kaskasen II Village, North Tomohon, North Sulawesi, using a Completely Randomized Design with one-factor combinations and six treatments (A: 150 ml/L water, B: 100 kg/ha NPK + 100 kg/ha Urea, C: 50 kg/ha NPK + 50 kg/ha Urea + 150 ml MOL, D: 50 kg/ha NPK + 50 kg/ha Urea + 300 ml MOL, E: 100 kg/ha NPK + 100 kg/ha Urea + 150 ml MOL, F: 100 kg/ha NPK + 100 kg/ha Urea + 300 ml MOL), each with four replications. The observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, and fresh weight. The results showed that the combination of inorganic fertilizer and MOL had a significant effect on fresh weight (846.62 g), but no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, or leaf width. Therefore, the combination of inorganic fertilizer and MOL is effective in improving pakcoy yield. Keywords: pakcoy, inorganic fertilizer, local microorganisms

Abstract

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a major horticultural crop and a key carbohydrate source after rice, maize, and wheat. Its high economic value and suitability for highland cultivation make it an important commodity for food security. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of NPK fertilization frequency on the growth and yield of the Superjohn potato variety. The experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Sam Ratulangi University, Manado, from March to June 2025, using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatment frequencies: twice, three times, four times, and five times. Each treatment received a total of 15 grams of NPK per plant, applied via watering (kocor) in divided doses. Observed variables included plant height, leaf number, branch number, tuber weight, tuber count, and tuber size classes (SS, S, M, and L). Results showed that fertilization frequency had no statistically significant effect on any of the growth or yield parameters. However, the five-time application treatment (P4) consistently yielded the highest average values numerically across most variables. High rainfall during the study period was suspected to cause nutrient leaching, particularly nitrogen, and waterlogged soil conditions that inhibited root respiration and nutrient uptake. Keywords: Potato, fertilization frequency, yield

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.) are a popular vegetable among Indonesians. Consumers range from the lower to the upper classes. Demand for mustard greens continues to grow in line with growing demand and public awareness of the nutritional value of vegetables. This study aims to determine the effect of providing corn waste compost on the growth and yield of green mustard plants and to determine the best dose of corn waste compost on the growth and yield of green mustard plants. The study was conducted from July to December 2024 in the Green house of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sam Ratulangi University. The research method used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 5 treatment levels and 4 replications, namely: P0: Control / without compost. P1 10 tons / ha) corn waste compost, P2 (20 tons / ha) corn waste compost, P3 (30 tons / ha) corn waste compost, P4 (40 tons / ha) corn waste compost. The results of the study showed that the provision of corn waste compost had a very significant effect on the growth and yield of green mustard plants (Brassica juncea L.). The best results of the provision of corn waste compost fertilizer on green mustard plants (Brassica juncea L.) were obtained in the P4 treatment (40 tons/ha), namely a plant height of 10.15 cm, the number of plant leaves was 17 strands, and produced a wet plant weight of 37.75 gr. Keywords: green mustard, compost, corn waste, production, dosage

Abstract

Upland water spinach (Ipomoea reptans Poir.) is a leafy vegetable with high nutritional value and rapid growth, but its productivity is strongly influenced by light intensity. Water spinach is a plant species characterized by a rapid growth rate, allowing it to be harvested approximately 25 to 30 days after sowing. Light is a crucial factor influencing the rate of photosynthesis in chlorophyll-containing plants and affecting the physiological condition of plant tissues. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of shading levels on seed germination and yield of upland water spinach. The research was conducted from August to September 2025 in Kalasey Satu Village, Minahasa Regency, using a Randomized Block Design with four shading treatments: 0%, 30%, 60%, and 90%. Observed parameters included seed viability and vigor, as well as plant growth and yield components. The results showed that all treatments produced germination percentages above 90%, with the highest viability and vigor obtained under 30% shading. Increased shading promoted plant height but reduced the number of leaves, stem diameter, and fresh weight. The no-shading treatment resulted in the highest yield. Therefore, upland water spinach cultivation is recommended under open-field conditions or light shading up to 30% to achieve optimal growth and maximum yield. Abstract

Caisim (Brassica rapa L.) is a horticultural commodity that plays an important role in supporting the Indonesian economy. To increase plant growth and yield, the use of fertilizer is essential. However, excessive dependence on chemical fertilizers can damage soil structure and fertility. One environmentally friendly alternative is the use of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from agricultural waste materials, such as banana stumps, which are known to contain important nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). This study aims to determine the effect of applying POC from banana stumps on caisim plant yield and to determine the best concentration that can provide optimal results. The study was conducted for three months, from January to March 2025, at the Paslaten 2 plantation, East Tomohon District, Tomohon City, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six treatments and five replications. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with a 5% LSD test if there was a significant effect. Observed variables included plant height, number of leaves, and plant fresh weight. The results of the study showed that liquid organic fertilizer from banana stems had a significant effect on the number of leaves and fresh weight, but not on plant height.                                                  Keywords : Caisim; Brassica rapa L.; Banana stump; Liquid organic fertilizer; Plant growth and yield.
