Abstract

Currently, many teaching resources have not fully understood how to write and submit to a journal. This can be attributed to various factors, such as a lack of training or experience in journal writing, a greater focus on teaching or research activities, or limited opportunities to engage in journal writing communities. Therefore, this workshop aims to enhance the capacity of teaching resources in writing and publishing research and community service in national journals. The implementation method consists of preparation, activity execution, mentoring, and evaluation stages. The results of the activity evaluation show that 80% of participants have improved their abilities to comprehend the structure of scientific journals, writing ethics, effective writing techniques, and 100% of participants are capable of drafting journals according to environmental style guidelines. Measured capacity development of teaching resources enables them to write journals in accordance with the guidelines of each publisher, avoiding rejection. Furthermore, the ability to understand the Open Journal System (OJS) application during submission is essential for teaching resources to publish in nationally accredited journals.

Abstract

Berdasarkan data Fish Base ukuran ikan pertama kali matang gonad atau Length at first maturity (Lm) tuna sirip kuning berada pada ukuran 103,3 cm. Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus albacares) is one of the economically important fish species in the world and an Indonesian fishery export commodity. Utilization of fishery resources is generally shared property (common property) meaning that efforts to exploit can be carried out jointly at the same time by fishery business actors (open access). Increasing utilization efforts are being made and the large number of tuna catches below the size at first maturity has disrupted the recruitment process for young fish in nature. To support the right decision making in efforts to manage sustainable fisheries, the availability of measurable data and information are absolutely necessary to determine the current status of tuna fishery resources. The aims of this study were to determine (1) the distribution of fish length and (2) the relationship between the length and weight of yellowfin tuna in the southern waters of East Java (Sendang Biru). Data collection was carried out at the Fish Auction Place (TPI) Pondokdadap Port Sendangbiru Malang, from August to October 2022. The yellowfin tuna samples that were landed were then measured for length and weight, then analyzed using linear regression, so that a relationship between the length and weight of the fish could be seen. The number of yellowfin tuna or yellowfin tuna whose fork length and weight were successfully measured from August to October 2022 was 347 individual fish. Based on the data that had been processed, the dominant fork length of yellowfin tuna was between 136 – 145 cm with a maximum length of 195 cm and a minimum of 86 cm, and an average fork length of around 109 cm. Based on Fish Base data, the length at first maturity (Lm) of yellowfin tuna was 103.3 cm. This showed that the catch of yellow fin tuna by Sendangbiru fishermen had a percentage of 55% that was suitable for catching, while those that were not yet worth catching had a percentage of 45%. Fish length and weight data can be used to see the morphometric condition of a fish species. From the results of the analysis of the relationship between length and weight of yellowfin tuna at the study site, it was known that growth was negative allometric where length growth was more dominant than fish weight growth.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that affect the catch of mackerel in the potential zone of fishing grounds in the Makassar Strait, namely; oceanography sea surface temperature, salinity, current velocity, depth and sea surface chlorophyll content on the catch of mackerel in the potential zone of fishing grounds in the Makassar Strait. The research method used is the survey method, which directly follows the fishing operation. The number of observations was 38 times. Data were analyzed with histogram graphs and also analyzed with multiple linear regression. The results of this study showed that mackerel were generally caught in waters with temperatures between280Cand290C; salinities of 30 ppt and 31 ppt; water depths of about 50 m and 60 m; current speeds of about 0.09 m/s and 0.12 m/s; and chlorophyll-a content of about 1.80 mg/m3 and 2.20 mg/m3. This study has explained that chlorophyll-a content is the dominant factor in relation to mackerel catch.

Abstract

Coral reefs are ecosystems that are sensitive to change. High pressure can cause damage to coral reefs. Monitoring the condition of coral reefs needs to be done to know the current condition. One way that can be used to monitor coral reefs is by utilizing remote sensing. The research was conducted to know the changes in the coral reef area and the factors that influence the changes in the coral reef area in Pari Island, Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta in the period 2013 to 2022. The research was conducted using Landsat 8 image data from 2013 to 2022. Image data processing was done with an object-based classification method. Coral cover measurements were conducted using the Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method. The results showed a change in coral reef area of 7.02 ha with the condition of live coral cover ranging from 27-43% which is included in the fair category. The results of field measurements show that the condition of water parameters falls into the unsuitable category. The increase in area that occurred was thought to be due to management activities carried out by the Pari Island community and activities carried out by LIPI in 2016, namely conducting coral reef restoration. The decrease in area is partly due to coastal reclamation activities, destructive tourist activities, and parameter conditions.

Abstract

The Makassar Strait is the major fishing ground for Short Mackerel (Rastrelliger spp) fisheries in South Sulawesi, Indonesia using both commercial fishing vessels and boats with traditional fishing gear. Though Short Mackerel is one of dominant commercial food fishes in South Sulawesi, the annual Cath per Unit Effort (CPUE) has been decreasing from year to year. In 2000, the total of annual CPUE was 22,117 tons and in 2007, it was 17,596 tons. The purpose of this research was to forecast the fishing ground of Short Mackerel employing Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite images in Makassar Strait territory with the study interest of 3 S and to 5 S and 118 E to 120 E. This research was conductade from September 15 to October 20, 2007. Fishing data were collected from the fishermen including fishing locations, catch, sea surface temperature, and chlorophyll concentrations. To determine the relationship between cacth and oceanographic parameters, linear regression was employed. We also examined sea surface temperature (SST) and Chlorophyll-a concentration field data vs. MODIS satellite data. The result showed that SST andChlorophyll distributions have close relationship with the distribution of fishing location of Short Mackerel. The fishing location tends to spread on the waters with the SST ranged from 26 degree of celcius to 29 degree of celcius and Chlorophyll concentration from 1.19 mg per m to 1.25 mg per m.
