Abstract

The background of this research is the need to increase the effectiveness of the dropping technique with a catch in pencak silat athletes because mastery of this skill is very important to improve performance in the fighter category. This study aims to improve the drooping technique with catches at PPS Merpati Putih Bekasi. The subjects of this study are beginner pencak silat athlete Merpati Putih in Bekasi, fighter category. The youth category consists of male athletes and female athletes. The method used in this study is the section method with Action Research. The indicators measured in this study are preparatory movement, execution movement, follow-up movement, and final movement. Based on the study's results, conclusions can be obtained. Action Research and the section method in training can improve the dropping technique with catches at pencak silat Merpati Putih Bekasi. With one cycle of action research. The success rate of athletes in the pre-test amounted to 4 or 18.18%, then after being trained with the part-by-part method in the first cycle, the success of athletes reached 20 people or 90.91%. From the research data, a tcount of 21.3 was obtained with a significant level of 0.05, and ttable was 1.72, then tcount (21.3) > ttable (1.72) means that there was a significant increase between the pre-test and the post-test.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the skills of anticipating falling pulls using “guntingan” on pencak silat athletes of the Jakarta Student Sports Education and Training Centre (PPLM). This research was carried out from March to May 2024 at the Gymnasium of Jakarta State University. The study was attended by all Jakarta PPLM pencak silat athletes in the competition category totalling 15 athletes, consisting of 10 male athletes and 5 female athletes. The method used in this study is Action Research with a one group pre-test post-test design. The instrument used is a test of the skill of anticipating falling pulls using “guntingan” that have been validated by experts and martial arts experts. Based on the pre-test data of the skill of anticipating falling pulls using “guntingan”, an average result of process correctness was 88.4% and an average success rate of 31.3%. Then after being given exercise material in research to improve the ability of pull fall anticipation skills using “guntingan” for 8 meetings, a post-test was carried out with an average result of 96.5% process correctness and an average success rate of 87.3%. There is an improvement in both the correctness of the process and the success rate. This research is completed in one cycle and does not need to continue to the next cycle. Because the problem has been answered, through research can improve the skill of anticipating falling pulls using “guntingan” on pencak silat athletes (study action research at PPLM DKI Jakarta).

Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to improve the skills of anticipation of pull drops in pencak silat athletes in the competition category. The research was carried out from March to May 2025 at the Jakarta State University Sports Hall. The study was attended by DKI Jakarta student pencak silat athletes in the competition category. The lack of good knockdown anticipation techniques can result in injuries for athletes. Objectives: The dropping technique combined with a pull is regarded as highly effective for scoring points and securing victory in matches. Similarly, the fall anticipation technique using a pull is seen as a strategic approach to enhance an athlete’s ability to respond to falls. Based on this, implementing a training model focused on fall anticipation with pull is deemed suitable for improving athletes' preparedness. Mastery of these anticipation techniques not only contributes to performance but also plays a crucial role in reducing the risk of injury. Therefore, innovative solutions and updates are needed to address the challenges outlined, ensuring the training process operates at its highest potential. Method: The research methodology employed Research & Development approach using the ADDIE model, conducted at GOR UNJ, DKI Jakarta, during March-May 2025. The research subjects consisted of 30 pencak silat athletes PPLM DKI Jakarta in fight category. The instrument used is a test of pull fall anticipation skills that has been validated by pencak silat experts and experts. Based on the initial test data of the ability to anticipate dropping. Data analysis using SPSS to process the effectiveness results of the pre-test and post-test. Result: The research results demonstrated significant improvement from the pre-test average success rate of 3.1333 was obtained. Then after being given the material on the fall anticipation training model, the final test was carried out with an average success rate of 8.7333. There is an increase in the success rate.  Conclusion: The developed training model proved to be feasible and effective for enhancing skills anticipation of pull drops in pencak silat, providing valuable insight for martial arts training methodologies and competitive performance improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the managerial performance of the Pencak Silat Team at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) based on a longitudinal data analysis covering the past five years (2020–2025). Despite consistently securing the general championship title at national student tournaments, a declining trend in gold medal acquisition necessitated an evaluative assessment. A descriptive mixed-methods approach (qualitative and quantitative) was employed, assessing managerial components such as organization size, coach-to-athlete ratios, and operational efficiency. Data triangulation included documentation of team performance, management structures, and open-ended organizational assessments. The efficiency ratio was calculated by comparing the total medals won against total human resources utilized (management staff, coaches, and athletes). Quantitative analysis indicated that while the highest total human resource engagement occurred in 2022 (95 personnel), the absolute efficiency peaked in 2025. In 2025, the team produced 14 medals with only 57 total personnel, yielding the highest efficiency index of 0.246, compared to the lowest efficiency index of 0.126 in 2024. Qualitative thematic reduction revealed that managerial effectiveness is primarily driven by structural work quality and division-specific competence rather than pure personnel volume. In conclusion, a leaner, highly coordinated management structure yields superior performance optimization, preventing role redundancy and enhancing athlete support systems. These findings serve as a strategic reference for collegiate sports management to maintain long-term championship sustainability.
