Abstract

Interesting agricultural cultivation technology that is easy to apply by the community, namely hydroponic agribusiness. Plant cultivation techniques without using soil, but using water enriched with nutrients needed by plants. These hydroponic plants are becoming increasingly popular because they are efficient, environmentally friendly, and can be done in limited land. This activity was carried out with the background of raising awareness, knowledge, insight, and skills in cultivating vegetables using the hydroponic method. The form of this activity is socialization carried out and attended by students, administrators and staff of Ma'had Zaadul Ma'ad on Jl. Padat Karya Lorong Melati RT 01, Talang Jambe Village, Sukarame District, Palembang. namely lectures, discussions, and direct practice on hydroponic cultivation. This activity received a good response from PKM participants, where participants enthusiastically followed the course of the workshop activities, namely making hydroponic plant seeds, hydroponic devices, making AB mix nutrients, planting, harvesting, to preparing financial reports. Hydroponic plants have a higher selling value compared to other plants. Of course, this is a potential profitable and promising business opportunity, so that male and female students, administrators and staff can utilize the yard to cultivate hydroponic plants. The prospects for this plant are very bright in the long term because consumer demand never stops. This program has a significant positive impact, but it is recommended that there be further development to expand the reach and sustainability of activities.

Abstract

This study evaluated the effectiveness of palm oil empty fruit bunch (EFB)-based growth media inoculated with Trichoderma spp. in enhancing vegetative growth of oil palm seedlings and suppressing Ganoderma boninense. A randomized block design was applied with five treatments: four doses of Trichoderma spp. (2 g, 4 g, 6 g, 8 g) and one untreated control, each repeated eight times. Observed parameters included plant height, stem diameter, leaf number, symptoms of Ganoderma attack, and disease intensity. Results showed that during the first and second months, no symptoms of Ganoderma were detected, consistent with the pathogen’s long latent period. In the third month, initial indications appeared, such as chlorosis of older leaves and necrosis of leaf tips, although no mycelium or necrosis was observed on roots. Vegetative growth analysis revealed variation among treatments. The 4 g and 6 g Trichoderma treatments produced the tallest seedlings, while the 8 g treatment yielded the highest leaf number. Stem diameter remained relatively uniform across treatments and showed no significant differences. ANOVA confirmed that differences among treatments were not statistically significant at the 5% level, though a trend of improved vegetative growth was evident in Trichoderma-treated seedlings. These findings suggest that combining PKEB with Trichoderma spp. has potential as an organic medium and environmentally friendly biocontrol agent against G. boninense. However, effectiveness could not be statistically validated within the three-month observation period. Longer-term studies with more replicates and physiological or molecular assessments are recommended to confirm efficacy and support field application. Abstract

This study investigates the profound socioeconomic implications of precipitation variability on agricultural stability, specifically focusing on how ENSO-induced rainfall anomalies trigger economic spillover effects within the Indonesian agrarian sector. Addressing the critical intersection of climatology and macroeconomics, the research aims to quantify the correlation between meteorological shocks and the Farmer's Terms of Trade (FTT). Utilizing official secondary datasets from the Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) and Statistics Indonesia (BPS) for the period 2021–2024, the study employs a quantitative approach integrating Pearson correlation analysis and the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results demonstrate a significant positive correlation (r = .658 ; p = .003) between rainfall stability and farmer welfare, revealing a severe "price-squeeze" effect during the 2023 El Niño where escalating production costs outpaced commodity gate prices. Furthermore, the findings highlight that technical irrigation infrastructure acts as a vital moderator, significantly dampening economic volatility in resilient provinces like South Sulawesi compared to rain-fed regions. We conclude that climate-driven economic erosion necessitates a transition toward proactive policy frameworks, such as Weather Index-Based Insurance (WIBI), to safeguard rural purchasing power. This research advances scientific knowledge by empirically decoupling the physical impacts of climate change from its structural economic consequences in tropical agriculture.
