Abstract

This research is motivated by the independent attitude of Maitreyawira Kindergarten School Ketapang children who are influenced by the implementation of character education in schools. Therefore, this study aims to find out the method of implementing character education and how its implementation can shape the independent behavior of children in Maitreyawira Kindergarten School Ketapang. The method used is qualitative research through survey and observation methods. The research subject was the observation of several children, then interviews were conducted with the parents of the children and the teachers who taught the children. Data collection instruments were in the form of interview results, documentation in the form of photographs of children's and teacher's activities, and field notes (anecdotes). From the results of observations, four categories were obtained to assess children's independence, namely Belum Berkembang (BM), Mulai Berkembang (MB), Berkembang Sesuai Harapan (BSH), and Berkembang Sangat Baik (BSB). The results of the research on the implementation of the independent behavior of the Maitreyawira Kindergarten School Ketapang children were assessed from 7 indicators, with the BM and MB categories at 0%, the BSH category at 64%, and the BSB category at 36%. The results of this study are expected to be useful as input in implementing character education in schools. The conclusion of this study shows that the implementation of character education has succeeded in shaping children's independent behavior in their daily lives.

Abstract

The knowledge about the Five Principles of Buddhism is the life foundation of every Buddhist generally and students specifically. Therefore, this research aims to improve the application of the first principle of the Five Principles of Buddhism among the seventh grade students at SMP Maitreyawira Palembang. In this research, the descriptive qualitative method is used. This method intensively learns the background of the current situation, and the environmental interaction according to the social units comprising: individuals, groups, institutions or society. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the role of a teacher as a motivator can motivate and help the students build a strong will and hope so that their life style can abide by the first principle. Besides, the role of a teacher as an inspirer using learning media can inspire the students to apply the first principle of the Five Principles of Buddhism. It is hoped that his research has a contribution for both teachers and students in practicing the Five Principles of Buddhism, especially the first principle, and for enriching the study of Buddha Dharma in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this action research is to determine the implementation of learning and the application of the discussion method to improve learning outcomes of Buddhist education in class VII students of SMP Maitreyawira Dumai. The results of the research with the procedures for planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. It has been implemented well, which is indicated by the increase in learning outcomes and character understanding, the average score of students shows an increase in understanding from 70 in the pre-cycle increasing to 73 in the first cycle, increasing to 90 in the second cycle until all students complete (≥74 KKM ) in receiving character-based Buddhist lessons, in percentage there was an increase in understanding of 20% in the first cycle and 30% in the second cycle to 100%. This shows that the application of the discussion method was successfully understood by the students, the Buddhist teacher was more involved in the activeness of students in learning with the discussion method with a seating arrangement pattern which was considered effective and enjoyable.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to help Maitreyawira Elementary School's early childhood  education program develop an attitude of independence. The sample was chosen purposefully,  and participants included the parents of the pupils, the teachers at TK Maitreyawira, and the leadership of the education unit. The research methodology employed was qualitative research in case study style. gathering information through triangulation, documentation, interviews, and observation. data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification through the use of interactive models (MILES and HUBERMAN, 2014, 247). Triangulation and member checks are used to validate concepts in order to ensure the data's correctness.  According to the research, (1) Maitreyawira Elementary School's application of independent attitude learning begins with the following: independence, honesty, democracy, sociality, religion, and the 5S culture: responsibility and environmental respect. (2) Early childhood positive habits have increased as a result of the adoption of autonomous character education for the development of Maitreyawira Elementary School's Ketapang children. Harmonio harmony implementation at Maitreyawira Elementary School's is still comparatively strong,  but not at its best, according to implementation metrics and the findings of interviews with the principal and three of the school's instructors. The percentage of these indications that require development is 58% for prioritising others frequently and consistently, 46% for feeling joyful and excited at home and at school every day, and 67% forworking with others. Others receive a 75% rating as good.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Buddhist teachers and the implementation of strengthening character education at SMPS Kasih Maitreya Selatpanjang by using descriptive qualitative methods, data collection techniques with interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation. Character education is education that develops cultural values ​​and character in students so that it becomes the basis for them to think, behave, act in developing themselves as individuals, members of society, and citizens. The values ​​of strengthening character education that become dominant in this study include honest, disciplined, orderly, clean, creative, obedient, polite and caring, while the less dominant characters include respect, neatness. The results of the study show that first; The role of Buddhist teachers in strengthening character education at SMPS Kasih Maitreya Selatpanjang has been well implemented, as evidenced by the results of the percentage of questionnaires, observations, and interviews with principals and teachers of 84%. Second, the implementation of strengthening character education for students of SMPS Kasih Maitreya Selatpanjang has reached 53%, which the principal and teachers say has not been optimal in strengthening character in schools, so there needs to be improvements such as the habituation of school culture aspects of 5S (smiles, greetings, greetings, politeness, and kindness). polite), 3D (self-discipline, time discipline, and regulatory discipline), 3 Love (love heart, loving smile, and loving behavior), so that the character becomes a habit at school and outside of school.
